Asmongold has come back to play Final Fantasy XIV and the community was exited; exited to the point of becoming annoying when he doesn’t play FFXIV as much as they’d like. Asmongold also has had a stream in which he said he will play FFXIV but instead opted on doing react content, which made people angry. In this video Xeno gives his take on the drama between Asmongold and the Final Fantasy XIV players.

  1. I think a lot of people forget that this is Asmongold's job… The character he plays might act like an unemployed gamer, doing things on a whim, but the reality is that this is what Zach does for a living–and very successfully. And the cold fact is that he has less consistent viewers and makes less consistent money when he streams FFXIV than when he does almost anything else on his stream. Now people in the creative field will often take on lower paying gigs because they believe in the project or find it personally fun to work on, but if the community is going to make it not fun for him, of course he's going to want to quit.

Like, think about your job… Would you rather work in a chill department for your current salary, or go work the next floor over where all the clients treat you like shit and ALSO you make one-half the salary. Of course you wouldn't want to do that, and neither does Asmongold.

  2. Like many others have said, it's because he hyped it up. And besides, it's very different with FFXIV compared to WoW or Lost Ark for example. People don't shit on him for those games because they're very repetitive and people know what to expect. When it comes to FFXIV he hasn't done all the story yet so people get super excited to watch him react to the story obviously! And it only makes it worse when he hypes it up, does his usual 8-ish hour stream, only to do MSQ for the last hour before logging off for the day. He's setting expectations for his viewers and he's not living up to it, and in return they get mad. Nothing to be really surprised about on his end tbh

  3. He doesn't actually like the game . It's just a stream content thing for him and people think he actually loves the game .
He himself admits he doesn't care about story in games . FF biggest thing is msq. He's not a story guy
Next thing is what raiding ? He also admits that he doesn't enjoy raiding anymore cause other people mess up . Even though he legit has no idea how to play his job or what his abilities do haha . He knew what everything did in lost ark . He knew what everything did in new world . He knows what abilities for in wow , Poe etc …
It's because those are games he likes lol .
It's really easy to tell what games he actually enjoys playing . Those are the ones he plays off stream . On his second account . It's easy to tell lol

Please accept that he doesn't actually like the game . He just sees content for his stream . Which he admits all the time lol 🤣

  4. I mean if he doesn't feel like playing that's cool idc. I don't watch the streams anyway.
    BUT
I can understand the frustration when he puts it in his stream title and then reacts for 5 hours and plays for less than 2 hours.
Just stop watching his streams and wait for the VoDs, problem solved.

  6. Asmon and his community take every opportunity to take pot shots at the FF community. I'm not saying the community doesn't have bad apples, but when you have every tool available to you to get rid of people that say things like this in your own chat, it just comes off as him creating an arbitrary excuse to quit the game again.

  7. Asmon is a weak attention dude. He does not or maybe does understand what he is doing. Don't say you are going to ay the game and then that day comes then you don't play it. Nah he created this mess and he isn't man enough to own it. He brings up all the negative stuff but does not explain why it has happened. Man up and take the hits when you don't do what you say you ate going to do.

  8. I love you baldy but there's more to the story than just Asmon's point of view. He baited his FF viewership by hyping up a big return, barely touched the game and then blamed the FF community for a small minority of bad actors from his twitch chat. Hoping at this point he just goes back to WoW or Lost Ark. Fingers crossed you're feeling better after the surgery Xeems.

  10. If a TV station has advertised a TV special for a show that's been on a hiatus for a year, people are gonna come to the advertised time to watch for like 20 minutes to an hour and leave, most people don't have time for more. I don't think anyone would have liked for the station to suddenly play advertisements for 5 hours because they have a lot of viewers and will be payed more if they show the advertisers to more people, before the program started.

  11. He should do what he wants but I think he should quit. He's obviously not into FFXIV and finds it a drag to play. People shouldnt pressure him into playing but asmongold shouldnt be leading his viewers on this way neither.

  12. One thing tho: the "only the FFXIV community complains about the amount of time I do react content" is bullshit. Most people on his community complains about it, people only was "tame" lately due the bashing on Diablo Immortal. Like, don't get me wrong: even if I don't agree on how he view certain things, I respect Asmon opinion a lot and I love his reaction content but lately is being just too much to a point I just go watch anything else on twitch and watch the VoD/YT video about it later.

  13. If a streamer is free to clickbait as much as they want, then the community is also free to criticize him for doing so.
So I don't know what all this bitching is about

  14. Imagine telling people you will play ff14 on Thursday and then not playing on Thursday. Then when people ask “hey didn’t you say you would ff14 on Thursday” you get mad tell them to shut up and get off my back I’ll play when I feel like it.

This whole situation could have been dealt with if he just removed ff14 from the title of his streams

  15. This is 99% on Asmon. He KNOWS a lot of people look forward to FF, then he promises FF for months, makes a big deal of coming back, jebaits for 8 hours, then madges when people bitch…..yeah it's the ff community. FF andies can be cringe but Asmon needs to adjust how his general stream is run if he wants to stop this.

  16. I was genuinely excited to see him move forward in the MSQ. Tuned in and then closed twitch after 4.5 hours. I didn't want to listen to him go through his reddit page. I wasted that time when I could have watched something more engaging. EDIT: HECK! I even tuned into his SECOND stream and he spent 8 hours doing everything BUT FF14, even though it was advertised in his title . I didn't even bother turning on the volume and checked back in every so often to even see if he loaded up the game for about 3 hours. Never did.

Part of me does believe the community ruined a bit of the fun though. I've watched so many streamers on twitch and youtube and just.. FF14 fans need to calm the FUCK down. Gods forbid these people don't get a small refference from 10 years ago from another FF game they never played. GODS FORBID you don't check the weather! OH LORD ITS THE END OF THE WORLD THEY DIDN'T GET THE REFERENCE because the game tends to dump a lot of information at once. Took me watching other people play through parts for me to get the smaller, finer details but if streamers don't get it right off the bat it's like they don't even like the game.

I get why Asmon feels like the community is overbearing because it definitely is, but he's using it as an excuse to cover up his own mistake in thinking folks will be fine watching him dick around on social media when they came for a very specific spectacle.

  17. There’s 3 things he can do:

    1. Put the name of a game on your stream title and play it like it says in your title.

    2. Don’t put the name of any game in your stream title and do whatever the fuck you want to do.

    3. Put the name of a game on you stream title but also put “X GAME AFTER 7 HOURS OF REACT CONTENT”

If you put the name of a game on your title then fans of that game will want to see you play it because YOU PUT IT THERE, don’t bitch about it when people get mad that you don’t follow through.

  18. I don't understand why Asmon is so reluctant to banning people in chat. If someone is being obnoxious and you're so affected by it — ban them. He only bans n word spammers or worse, and at the same time he always complains about how people are being stupid. Of course they're being stupid if there is basically no filter in chat.

  19. Wild how many people realize how toxic some parts of the community can be but then be as toxic posting on Xenos video blaming Asmon for the behavior of those people who are making it unbearable for him to want to play the game. Dude has always said he wants to play the game. Accept some of the people, including the ones commenting on this video, are fucking weird and mental as shit.

  20. idc whether he plays 14 or not but saying only the 14 players are to blame for complaining about the intros, flooding his reddit with one thing or asking when he's going to play their game is just incorrect. for the longest time his reddit was r/wow2.0, during the jd/ah trial the reddit wss full of trial memes, and now because the reddit is full of ff memes it's an issue and i'm not talking about the people bitching about him not playing they are deservedly getting deleted

  21. FF fans are their own worst enemy. The stereotypes are true to an extent. A large part of the community are obnoxious. A lot of the community is fake. Toxic positivity in 14 until they log onto Reddit. Then it’s just good ol Toxicity

  22. This is more about the Asmon community it self than the XIV community imo. I remember when Elden ring came out, it was pretty close to Lost ark launch and, whenever he was playing "too much" Elden Ring his chat was complaining that he wasn't playing Lost Ark and whenever he was playing "too much" Lost ark his chat was complaining that he wasn't playing Elden Ring and he didn't make a big deal of that.
It makes me think that, maybe, he just don't wanna stream MSQ anymore. It was cool in the beginning, but now that he realized there were 2 more expansions to stream after stormblood, he probably doesn't have the same desire to play anymore

  23. Streamers can do whatever they want, but they also can shut up bitching when about it when people call them out about it. Because viewers can also do whatever the fuck they want. Ya'll streamers need to get your egos in check, Geez.

  24. To me, it feels like he doesn't want to play the game that much. I get it's annoying when people tell him what to do, but that didn't stop him from playing Lost Ark.
And at this point, the vibes are way off. He should just stop streaming FF – it's not good for him or his community. But hey, I'm just some guy.

  25. Also seems like these streamers, including yourself, forget their target audience. A bunch of kids going through puberty. Expecting intelligence or reasonable logic is a fault of your own

  26. I'm one of the FF14 Andys that voted Fall Guy for laughs and giggles yesterday, I don't mind whatever he play but I get when some people sit through the reacts and don't get to see more of the MSQ. Personally I'm all for the raiding with FAMILY, Anoobis and friends it's fun content and eventually I hope to see him in an Ultimate, this will however take time. After downing DSR I'm really looking forward to Rich becoming quad legends clear for one more but I won't be parasocial about it, they do what they want.

  27. Personally, I have no problem with his longer intros. I don't tune in to the streams much anymore and mostly just watch his YouTube stuff. But still, I can kinda understand where ppl are coming from.

He teased the FFXIV return since January, starting with "maybe after Elden Ring I wanna play that" and it's been the carrot on the stick ever since. Granted, partially because people ask relentlessly, but still. So he finally makes a video "The Big Announcement" to announce a date for FFXIV, which hypes up his fans that have wanted to see him play again. Then 80% of the stream is react content and a tiny bit of gameplay. Which on one hand, his stream he can do what he wants, and his reactions to some things can be great. But it's like cyberpunk, he hyped it up for a long time, finally released it, and it's not entirely what was expected. Some people will leave, some will stay, and some will complain.

He can do what he wants and if that means no more FFXIV by all means, the kids in his chat can find a new streamer to harass. But I can understand why ppl might feel a little cheated. So if he doesn't want to play, he should just say so and stop playing, I think long run that'd make the most people happy

Edit: to add to this, regardless of whether ppl feel cheated or w/e though, harassing in chat/reddit/etc is a big no from me. If it becomes that upsetting, turn off the stream and find more streamers you enjoy who are playing. Forcing him to play won't make it fun
