Asmogan Reviews FFXIV PvP | 12 Hours of Engaging Competition

The PvP experience in FFXIV is very fun and engaging! Actually might take a liking to it more so than I ever did WoW’s!

  1. I loved my experience w/Frontline. I've done pvp w/ swtor & I didn't enjoy that at all. My friends don't really play it so I haven't played it much lately. I played it on aether, but since moving to crystal my friend hasn't been interested. Oh well, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself in Frontline and hope you continue to enjoy playing it! Take care!

  2. For me it's like this, I don't really like doing it and try my best to not do it. But when I actually do it, I actually don't think it's that bad. I guess I'm more neutral about it. That being said though, I really dislike how some jobs are played in PVP.

  3. I'm personally ambivalent about PvP in FFXIV. I could take it or leave it. I don't love it, nor do I hate it. I don't participate often, but I am glad it's there, at least.

I did it for my Dragoon glam, then I didn't do much otherwise. I might do some more at some point for more glams. You never know.

  4. I've never tried the PvP cause none of the gear there interested ne plus i was always busy with my crafting and such, but there IS one PvP Gamemode that's caught my attention called Rival Wings which is FFXIV's take on a MOBA (personally I think FFXIV's combat would suit a MOBA pretty well. Dunno how it works tbh but, if you're gonna keep on trying the PvP out might be worthy if a shot.

  5. I don't do pvp much at all but it's often fun when I do go in. I wish the devs made more of a spectacle of it, like duels in the uldah gladiator arena or something, instead of it being off to the side

  6. You weren't able to try out my favorite PvP mode, Rival Wings. If I remember correctly you just need to talk to a Goblin NPC at the Wolves Den to unlock the modes.

I love it because it's basically a MOBA with two lanes. There are two teams, your objective is to destroy the enemy's base, and NPCs spawn in waves to attack the enemy bases (like a MOBA's). There's also an additional dimension in this mode which is players can ride a type of robot if you collect enough fuel around the map. There's an anti-player robot, anti-base robot, and an all-rounder. It's my favorite because it's not as "zerg-y" as Frontlines because there are two lanes and certain objectives which come up around the map every so often. So you get smaller encounters of say, two to eight people and skirmishes can last a good bit unlike in Frontlines where people go kaboom so fast when the three blobs slam into each other.

Give it a try. I think you'll enjoy it! =D

  7. I'm not big in PvP either… actually always kept away from it. In WoW I got dizzy from all the jumping 😀 My FF14 PvP-adventure was rocky, and yes, glams were a big reason to give it a try. It was very frustrating in the beginning, even though I looked up several guides and bashed that dummy to get the rotation of my Bard right (maybe I should try tank…), it wasnt the best of experiances. Asking the team for advice didnt really get a response, and in one match the experianced players were lamenting that we all died fighting the other team – instead of saying anything ahead of that. Personally, I just stick to the bulk of my team but if they split up… there is only so much you can do. But another match was really fun: we were last in ranking and managed to win with initially 500 points backlog 😀
I still find it frustrating sometimes, but I dont hate it. I do frontlines via the daily roulett, I got all the glams I want, and now I go for the rest – and lament my limited inventory 😀 But later PvP sets (I think at least Shadowbringer, and maybe the Stormblood sets?) dont have stats and are purely for glamour.
Two things: there is a third PvP mode, Rival Wings. Two teams (I think 3×8 each) fight eachother with the help of Alexander mechs. From what I've heard it required more coordination than Frontlines but is less stressful than Feast.
And if you are the Discord type of person, there is the Revival FFXIV PVP Discord for any questions, team up, guides and whatnot. Might be worth to check out.

  8. At lvl 80 you can do the Nier Raid and I use that chest piece for my samurai. I use that chest piece, the strife gloves, strife boots and I don’t remember the shorts but think short shorts and the emperors helmet which is basically “invisible” it’s very anime and I love it

  9. You didnt see the toxic PVP community because the devs disabled it in the FEAST PVP game mode. All you see now is spam emote "good job"

People arent toxic in frontlines as most are their for the EXP rewards from the daily roulette. Everyone wins, even if you lose.

  10. The daily Frontlines Roulette is so good for Exp that its the incentive for me to do it for levelling alone, you can actually go in the queue as one job, switch jobs once in the match, and still get Exp for the job you queued with.

The only thing with Frontlines Roulette is that it switches Frontline game modes daily so some are more fun or just longer to finish but overall its a great daily even if you don't do PvP.
