  1. Honestly I find FF14 extremely boring now. It's frustrating.
The Events used to be great. But after they repeat them every year, with duplicate or lackluster rewards, I've just given up.

  2. I think some of the most memorable events I've done tend to be in GW2. They always seem to review old and design completely new events. The halloween event had a great pvp, humans vs zombie type mode/last man standing, limited event. They have events with great jumping puzzles. I really think 14 should design more large scale events with wider game modes.

  3. Hmmm…. 🤔 Perhaps the events could be longer. Include more mini games and Fates. My favourite mini game in FF14 is the Ishgardian Fêtes! The games are simple and always the same of course, but I have fun and laugh no matter what! 😆 Besides, the rewards are multiple and diversified. And, you level your crafters at the same time. 😃 The smaller events are finished within 20 to 30 minutes and after the first two weeks, nobody is doing them. 😅 The rewards are nice but not always useful. More items for the decor? That’s great if you have somewhere to place them. 😭 Food items? They don’t last long of course, but it’s free. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe, and I can’t believe I’m about to say this, the seasonal events could give you a currency that you can use for other things or even other events. A component that stays. I like the sound of that! 👍
When will they do Yokai again? I need all those minions. 😂

  4. If I can give a standard for peak FFXIV events it would have to be similar if not better than the FF15 event. Repeat events shouldn't just repeats, like sure, bring back the rewards but maybe add new rewards ontop of them as well?

The Moogle Tomestone events are also really nice but the last couple have been pretty mid so they need to tweak the rewards.

  5. I'm glad for FF14's lackluster events. I hate seasonal events. You waste so much time developing something that will ultimately be removed from the game and it's better spent working on more permanent features.

  6. I think a very important part of this structure is deeply rooted in the Japanese perspective: the Ephemeral. "Mono no aware," or ‘bittersweet awareness of the impermanence of things’ – the belief that impermanence needs to be cherished and not mourned. Ephemeral to Japan is ‘an idea that mediates between desired permanence and the obligatory change.' That's why the short-lived, fragile, pale pink cherry blossoms have become a symbol of Japan. The events come back every year, but different. Sure it creates FOMO, but it rewards those who have stuck through the game for all these years, while allowing new players to get the items through the MogShop.

This sense of the ephemeral is present all over Japan, including marketing and game design. The Japanese love their seasonal events, as they either coincide with their seasons, their beliefs cycles, or with western celebrations (I love the different kinds of kit-kats that are only available certain times of the year). Japanese Mobile Gatcha games are FULL seasonal events that grant special bonuses or characters.

I agree that the events can be more interesting, but in the end that's a subjective thing for everyone. Ty for the video!!

  7. Hello, guys. Hope all is well with you.

Seems to me people complain about FF14 events every year like clockwork. A new player wouldn't necessarily know that, however.

Thing is, for every low engagement event like say Heavensturn, there's stuff like or the annual Haunted House event, Garo, Yo-Kai, and the Monster Hunter Collab.

I remember there were people complaining about being "forced" into PVP to get the Garo gear during the first go round. I know I personally didn't have the patience to do the Monster Hunter Collab, so I didn't.

I feel this game offers a choice (even if it isn't an exact 50/50 split) between types of events and level of engagement desired. But because this game offers many different types of content no one player is going to get a steady stream of content that suits them.

    Can't please everyone.

  8. I kinda like that events are lackluster. Because for some weird (I admit it's weird!) reason, they stress me out. The idea of a reward that if you don't do the thing before the event is over — you lose it forever. It bothers me, like I feel obligated to do it. So then I put it off, and forget about it. Then get salty that I missed it.

So for once in my MMO life, knowing that I can do a FFXIV event with 10 min of skipping through cutscenes really appeals to me.

    —————-

I had played WoW for like 10 years prior and never got my purple proto-drake, because I just hated investing more than 30 minutes into a holiday event. I dunno. They just bother me a lot. If they didn't have rewards tied to them, I'd probably skip them.

Another big plus in FFXIV's park. They'll sometimes front-load the rewards, and then give you an optional expanded story/repeatable quest to get some minor stuff you missed.

    ===============

I only got the experience the Super Adventure Box in GW2, and that was interesting change. I think my biggest con against holiday quests is that I don't want to read 3 pages of dialogue to know what's going on. And with Adventure Box it was mostly just game-play stuff.

  9. Absolutely. XIV focus a lot of straight up putting items on the XIV store now. I've been frustrated about that for some times and have expressed it. However this community rather demolish demotion opinions in general. The micros event was have, as well. Are way too easy, they always carter to have the "new character" value because XIV doesn't want anyone excluded, those events should also encourage being "invested" in the game, as well. Not because I want to exclude a new player, nope. But at some point, what's the point to try invest into an MMO RPG as a full time player if FFXIV doesn't have full time investment rewards?

XIV used to be great for included side activities, but now they're just repetitions, not really offering anything new. Also some of those part events who gets repeated, were supposed to be limited, SE urged people to come play them to grab unique "rewards". This is pretty scummy seeing how the novelty of exclusivity gets removed, especially in a MMO. Means having playing for 10 years versus 1 years means absolutely, nothing.

  10. They should add the past event rewards to the gold saucer. They could even make it limited time or for those reward points (the ones you exchange to guy in Gridania for mounts and minions) Just a thought 🙂

  11. Dragon Quest X is currently doing an event for Dragon Quest Day where you literally go to Dragonlord’s Castle and work your way to him. Then he will ask you to join his side and he will give you half of the world. You can then either tell him yes or no and if you answer correctly he will turn into his true form and fight you and your party. Its so cool seeing that battle completely redone in full 3-D!

  12. I don't really care that the ff14 aren't that good for the most part, I prefer they focus on content that will be a permament part of the game rather than stuff that will be gone after a few weeks, I do wish they'd bring back the old summer event with the jumping puzzle though.
