With all the hype surrounding Final Fantasy 14 at the moment it even swept me up and decided to make a new character and follow the game’s storyline. Everyone says that FF XIV’s story is not only a great story when it comes to MMO’s, but a great story for games in general. Those are some large shoes to fill and most abide that the great storytelling begins with the expansions, but to understand everything one still has to go through the weakest part in the form of “a Realm Reborn”. I had already made a character before and leveled it up to lvl 20 or so and wasn’t too blown away by the experience. This time I made a character and leveled it all the way through and it was a lot more fun and engaging. The story in the base game has it’s up and downs with some great highlights like the Ifrit storyline. But there are still a lot of grinding and fetch quest missions in the game to where “a Realm Reborn” did not provide an experience that was so much better than other rivaling MMO games. But I’m looking forward to being blown away when I reach the expansions.

are you going to take a look at that?
Although you are not wrong about ARR having pacing issues and not amazing story. You do need to know that they only worked on it for 2 years while fixing 1.0 so it was pretty rushed. As for when the next expansion starts, another credit will roll when the post updates are finished. Decent review however the post content should have been included in this. Lastly coils should be experienced before getting deep into HW since its story related
2.55 ARR patch was the time I got hooked and click the story for me. After than it was smooth sailing!
