  1. I have hard time following WoW cutscenes. It seems like they often talk too soft and too slow. And when they do emote, they look like growing dogs. It looks too unnatural. It's perhaps the aesthetic that they chosen.

  2. I hate to repeat something you’ve probably hear a million times regarding this game, but it still gets better from here. By shadowbringers and endwalker, every major player in the narrative is so complex and deeply engaging that it makes you forget how simple so many of the ARR characters were. SHB especially has the best written antagonist I’ve ever seen in a video game.

  3. You are talking about Zenos, he is emperors Varys son, the viceroy of the Garleans. He even mentioned in the cutscene you mentioned- that his father did not give him permission to invade Eorzea.

  4. Gaius saying that he never wanted that much destruction is English only though. In original, he's stunned/shocked by how powerful the magic inside Ultima Weapon is, but that's it.
I personally prefer the original as it makes more sense with his personality. He's not the kind to regret destruction wrought to achieve his goals, but he's certainly taken aback by how ridiculous that weapon they've awoken is.

  5. Garleans invented all those techs and feels they need to be protected because Garleans, unlike others, are unable to use magick. They felt they were unable to protect themselves from others because of this.

  6. Future expansions actually add a lot more nuance to the average Garlean's perspective as well.

Obviously a lot of them are just flat out scummy people, but the story shows how the resentment built up over generations of being at the bottom of the barrel (before the invention of magitek), fueled further by Garlean propaganda, has led to the superiority complex the general Garlean population has. Particularly towards magic too, as it was the tool that was used to oppress their kind for centuries, similar to how Eorzeans have a distrust of magitek

  7. these videos infuriate me because while I agree with what your saying I cant talk about my favorite examples or moments because of spoilers. seriously I think it might be possible to sum up your entire argument to final fantasy players in just two words [REDACTED][REDACTED].
Hell you might not even need that much, for a couple of your points you could probably do it without any words, just wave or snap your fingers or something to get everyone's attention and point at [REDACTED]. its such an effective example that it might be enough for final fantasy players to understand the argument your trying to make.

  8. I'm really curious to see your thoughts on Shadowbringers. For my money, Shadowbringers was a nearly flawless expansion, and no question, the best one i've ever played… It just keep hitting the mark over and over again on so many levels, from the entry into the first zone, to the wrap up in 5.3 =)

  9. Big true in FF14 in that the villains being more dimensional than the heroes, which make you more invested in them. That's not to say the heroes of FF14 didn't have their moments. In WOW, I didn't get much dimensional characters outside of a handful of them.

  10. I still feel like, while Fordola and Yotsuyu have their strong points as villains, and even Varis himself, Zenos is a complete letdown. He's 1D. Not even 2D, 1D. I just don't understand people's love for Zenos, he's the most passive, generic bad guy ever. I don't necesarily mind his one-mindedness, but what I do mind is that he does, in retrospect, VERY LITTLE. You could cut him out of the story and very little would actually change. And most of the things that would change, would honestly probably be beneficial. His philosophy is vaguely interesting, but the man himself is not.

  11. If you like the Garleans now, boy will you be in for a Treat later. Imo they feel a bit like the Empire from Star Wars in ARR but the more you get to know about them, the more interesting they get

  12. A certain antagonist in Shadowbringers is single-handedly more engaging, better written, and a hell of a lot more enjoyable than anything written for WoW. And it gets better in Endwalker. Comparing the writing between the two games is simply unfair lmao.

  13. Great vid, man. Looking forward to seeing you hit Shadowbringers and Endwalker. As a long time Final Fantasy fan, those expansions are where XIV gets as good as the classics that put this series on the map to begin with.

  14. Varus isn't just about stopping primals – that will just be one thing that their goals achieve. They want to bring about a new calamity basically because they believe it will make them more perfect so it's not all about primals. He does a good job as selling it as just that apparently.
Do they like Fordola? I wouldn't go that far. Varus, Zenos, etc are very good at war – even the psychological kind. I wonder how Ala Mhigans would react to see one of their own punishing them? I'd think it would be painful and possibly demotivating.
