I know for some FFXIV Roulette players the changes to Final Fantasy 14 ARR Praetorium and Castrum will feel horrible but for new players, its amazing.

I assume praetorium will be standardized to a dungeon 3 bosses Colossus, Nero and Gaius where there are 2 packs of trash between wall to wall, with an intro Cutscene and and ending Cutscene, so players that join to help only have to wait for the first CS. Ultima as the 4men trial, Lahabrea as solo duty.
I will prefer both to be 8 man trial, Ultima and Lahabrea.
We've been asking for this change for literally years for exactly these reasons.
Cutscene simulator is apt. This all started back in 2.0 when we were introduced with Darklight gear. Castrum were the only spammable dungeon that was worth the farming of Philosophy Tomes.(I believe that was the currency name back then). Because of this, what you see today is the culmination of efforts and most optimized strats. And, also about voice overs in FFXIV, a lot of people do forget FFXIV supports multiple VA languages. They left out VA on some parts of the cutscene due to issue with time. For example, when animation or some parts of music que changes, all languages must be changed along with it. I highly doubt that Yoshi P will retroactively add VA to older content due to time still being the problem for development.
And before the custscenes were unskippable, players pressured new players to skip the cutscene. I was pressured to do it and i feel like i missed out.
My other friend had an entire group wait for him to watch all the cutscenes.
Hope they'll add more voice acting.
They could do more voice acting now they have the budget for it, when ARR was being worked on and came out they really didn't have the budget.
I'm very pleased for these changes. Was rather dreadful experience at launch too as it was a great source for rewards so many rushed through it even harder with the ability to skip cutscenes. Remember lots of shouting in chat "Skip it! Watch it in the Inn room!" from many. I don't do any of the two MSQ roulette unless someone new in the FC is running it so one can guide through them through the chaos.
i think my favourite thing they said about patches taking an extra two weeks was that he wanted to make sure the dev team are not being over worked and they are getting time off
I was surprised on the amount of FFXIV content planned to be released in the current expansion, as well as plans for the next expansion. This is especially with the budget differences WOW an FF14 get. I agree that WOW can get there, but they need to start making content outside of their 3 goto pillars of content.
I'll actually be disappointed in the change to Praetorium and Castrum. Those are my staple hang out and chill activities. I'd use them when needing to relearn a job I haven't played in a while and they were about the only queued things I'd do on tank jobs for xp. Or just to get the nice amount of currency rewards while relaxing, watching netflix/youtube, and judging people's glamours in the cutscenes.
I do remember when I first did them the cinematics were skippable and it was awful. I didn't get to participate in anything and sometimes it even skipped over a cutscene because they'd gone past it before I was even done watching the prior one.
I do think the Lahabrea fight deserves something better, like a trial fight. He feels like such an anticlimatic pushover and has for a long time.
one thing I thought they could do is split up praetorium into multiple instances. Really the only dungeon mechanics are up to Nero. After Nero it's basically boss after boss with no trash or dungeon crawling in between, so you could have praetorium 1 be the dungeon up to Nero, and then the fights with Gaius and Ultima would be trials or something. They already said Lahabrea will become a single player duty. I feel like that could break up the continuity a bit because you could theoretically leave after Nero and do other things before fighting Gaius and Ultima and I do think there's something nice about doing it all at once, but split instances like that have become the norm, the end of heavensward is literally a dungeon leading straight into a separate trial and the other expansions do similar things especially at the end.
