ff14 starts very slow on all accounts (.. Story, characters & voice acting are aldo not great early on), hold thru!!!
best melee to start is monk.. when you master it, all other melee are than easy to get into.. (and Monks share gear with Samurai, you can unlock later)
… and monks can tie dps with samurais, fight dependent, both usally top dps (besides blackmages)
…
lancer are boring untill lv 50+ (& gets aoe moves / rotation late..)
Using emo as music for the Reaper seems so wrong. It should obviously be Black Metal.
As starter jobs if you're interested in Monk, then you can start as a Pugilist. Shares armor type with Samurai so easy to Switch too.
Warrior (starting as Marauder) is an easy beginner friendly class.
Lancer (becoming Dragoon) is an easy starter too with a bit of a similar playstyle as Reaper. Tho endgame I didn't like dragoon as much cause of the rigid rotation and the constant interweaving. Both Reaper and Dragoon share the same type of armor (like Monk and Samurai).
Just remember you only get like 10 starting classes to choose from when you create a character, so that should help make the decision easier.
Reaper is pretty great, scythe make brain go brrrrrrrr
But Also up until it came out I was a Black Mage main, which is also satisfying when you know a fight
That video is pretty well done. There were a few things I think may have been misrepresented a bit, though. Paladins can definitely pump out heals but it comes a bit later in the levels and their most notable party heal requires them to stop their damage rotation (which is a big no-no for dps optimizer folks). For the Monk, it should be noted they get an instant transmission move so they can be very mobile. That said, monk uniquely doesn't have a proper ranged attack outside of cooldown abilities. My perspective on Red Mage is that they aren't really 'versatile'. They are absolutely uniquely valuable for their rez mage powers, but for their actual damage rotation you have to put in some work to juggle their mana and time your cooldowns or melee combo to get the actual benefit of their multi-role aspect. It's not like Ninja where you are more free to pick and choose between ranged and melee attacks.
Its funny how he has it mixed up on what classes are easy. Dragoon is straight forward but is more complicated then most of the other melee. Reaper is by far the simplest of all melee
Lala's are adults – Full grown.
I don't understand why people keep saying monk is hard. It used to be the hardest job but then it got reworked twice in a row, nowadays is easier that ninja and in the ballpark of samurai and dragoons.
waiting for that “WoW player spends 4 hours creating characters” Video 😂
Proud Dark Knight main and I cannot recommend it enough, it’s just supremely entertaining.
Lalas being hated is a meme-made reality -.- However, if you wanna play one, just remember this: 1st, Yoshi-P mains a lalafel, and 2nd, Nanamo and Tataru are lalas and are some of the most beloved and best written characters in the game 🙂
22:05 — Thats a blatant lie: everyone can enter the clubs. Also, lalas have the habit of making you smile when you see them – unless they turn out to be creeps, in that case, blame the player.
First of all: dont let the choice of class, later job, get into your way. You can switch your job at any moment: once of reach level 10, you can switch to the other classes jobs in your starting, and at lvl15 you have access to all classes/jobs in all the starting zones (which are 8 in total). When you reach lvl 50, you get access to Samurai and Red mage, when you get to the first expansion, you get access to Astro, Machinist and Dark Knight. At lvl60, you can start dancer and gunbreaker, and at lvl70, you can add Reaper and Sage to you kit. And next year, you get two more dps jobs handed to you. Pick one of the lot, play it, level it and see for yourself if it suits you. This video is brilliantly made but it has one specific flaw: it introduces the jobs to where are now, it doesnt give you any info about how they are when you start. And its those early stages that you have to "survive". I'm not trash talking early design since it has a reason for being how it is, but if a job doesnt click with you at the start, it might not bode well for your future fun later on. Remember, you start at lvl 1, not lvl 90, best to pick something that catches your fancy now, whether its playstyle or simply the fantasy behind it 🙂
Also, small side-note: your volume is kinda low – whenever I get harrassed by commercials, they would blast my ears off o.o
I switched to NIN in anticipation for the new Pirate themed job.
Video is kind of outdated, Warrior is now the best at everything in the tank roster.
Lalas are basically goblins from WoW XD They're evil with their money. XD
Paladin: Good boi. Largely unkillable. Terrible job story. Lots of fancy weapons. Best invuln.
Warrior: UNGA BUNGA! FELL CLEAVE! Holm gang rise up. Big axes.
Dark Knight: Edge. Large swords with variable numbers of edges. Best and most edgy job quest. Worst, but easily most edgy invuln.
Gunbreaker: Endless screaming or laughter depending on the situation Cool weapon. Sweet overcoat. Broken fingers from rotation.
White Mage: Regen healer. Blood for the Blood Lily. Acts nice, secret sociopath. Suspiciously white robes.
Scholar: Escort quest. The actual healer (the fairy) just follows you around so you're mostly there to occupy space. BOOK SLAP!
Astro: It's time to d-d-d-d-duel. Used to be spreadsheet complicated, now waaaaay easier. Fancy weapon. Middle aged tarot fan.
Sage: Lasers! Shields! More lasers! Book nerds. Anime glasses adjustment as a bonus action.
Bard: I seduce the boss. Make arrows happen. Arrows get bigger and flashier as you level. Can sing in combat, and play instruments out of combat.
Machinist: I cast GUN! Armed like they're in a 90's shooter. Rocket launcher up the butt style. Pet turret that eventually turns into pet sexbot. Some real nice guns.
Dancer: Bop It the class. Help your other DPS out, or dance partner the tank as an insult. Good mobility, and easy to play.
Monk: Like playing keyboard for a prog rock band. Unlearn your GCD timings. No ranged attack. Sometimes unleash godlike powers. Largely crap looking weapons.
Ninja: Invading Area 51 with the bois. Exclusively Naruto fans. Invoker from DOTA. Will die from greeding burst windows.
Dragoon: Jump. No, higher than that. Reached the exo-atmosphere? Not bad, but you can do better. Spikey. Pokey. Almost certainly dead from greed or backflips.
Samurai: Whilst you were ERPing I studied the blade. Didn't study any party buffs, but hey, I hit like a truck. Some delightful weapons.
Reaper: Some great looking weapons. Good mobility. Extrememly flashy. Not DRK edgy, but sprinting to catch up. Personal fave.
Summoner: Easiest job? Easiest caster for sure. Summon tiny versions of traumatic god beings to slap fools. BOOK SLAP!
Black Mage: Worst levelling experience in the game. Great fun to play. Rotation changes DRASTICALLY every 10 levels from 50 onwards. Eats AoEs like I eat chicken.
Red Mage: Caster but fashionable. Explosions, followed by shanking a fool. Some fancy weapons. Back up rezzer. Generally clutch or hopeless, no middle ground.
Before you play, I'd recommend looking at Jocat's Crap Guide to FFXIV videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8oVV_I-tIA&list=PLDnRMnDDjAzIZlUm0Tp_oeT3Cwv39AZ7_&ab_channel=JoCat). They're all hilarious in general, some inside jokes, but also a surprising amount of helpful information. And the best part, they're quick to get through at ~35 minutes for all 6 videos. Enjoy! 😀
actually warrior can also heal teammates, first of with nascent flash that puts all damage reduction and the shield on the selected party member, second on, every hit you do heals yourself and party member by the same amount, if you heal for 7k with a axe swing, the party member also does. second on, shake it off is a very good party utility, its a % based shield for 30 seconds and has also 15 second heal over time.
oh great another reaper band wagon. i’ll have you know i’ve been no lifing reaper since early access 🤓
idk what it is man but your audio level even at max is always so low in comparison to the average youtube video.
A small note : with Stormblood being added to the free trial in patch 6.5, all previously locked content, including jobs is being lifted. So any free trial players will be able to make their way into Lv 60 Stormblood content (HW base and patch MSQ completion needed to progress) and unlock Stormblood jobs (Red Mage/Samurai) upon reaching Lv 50.
As someone who did a Monk Main all the way to the start of 6.0 before switching to Dancer, I can say that I love how fast paced both classes are!
I could never get into any of the slow caster classes. The two classes honestly flowed really well from one to the other.
Make sure to try out as many classes as you want! Though I do recommend "Dark Knight" just because it has the best story of any of the Job classes imo.
Best thing about FF14; you change jobs with 1-3 clicks of a button, depending on how Hotkey’d you want to make it.
for ninja its simple to not to get the rabbit. just don't press the same button twice in the same cast. also, only the length and the final compound in the mixture determines what spell is actually cast.
gun breaker for when you want to rp as a edgy depressed ff mc and the outfit is available in 14
highly recommend the jocat guides! welcome to eorzea! lookin forward to feast on your emotional damage (ff14´s veterans favourite dish) :3
If you play a catgirl, I will judge you so harshly
I was there to see you create 5 character looks. At least you have retainer looks ready for the future XD.
I play a cat gorl 😂😂😂 I can help with anything you may need im not max lol yet though but I'm far enough ahead for not I can help
not too sure if you'll see this, but JoCat's Crap Guide to tank/healer/dps videos are also good videos.
White Mage is actually pretty dang fun, especially once you unlock the Blood Lily (BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILY) and realise that with this you can sometimes out-DPS the lowest of the DPS classes from time to time
If you haven't already check out joe cats crap guide to final fantasy. as a side note.. as a RDM main you would have a lot of run as RDM you are always moving. just be warned you will become the oh shit healer and rezzer in any PT over lvl 65
Dps is a great starting choice. You have no responsibility other than keeping yourself alive and your own rotation. You will see the difference in how tanks handle dungeons and if you want to be a tank you can see how a good tank does things. Same as watching healers to transition to a new role. They are all fun in there own way.
with the amount exp gains from MSQs, you can level at least 2-3 jobs concurrently.
and if you level arcanist(summoner/scholar) you get both jobs for the price of 1.
