The biggest of the big boys and girls. The daddies and mommies of Final Fantasy 14. The muscle bound people who could probably use you as a toothpick. Here I go over the glorious lore of the Roegadyn while being totally 100% truthful to the lore and not adjusting it at all for humour purposes.

  1. I realized during editing I mentioned a Roegadyn hug being both the greatest thing ever, but also almost certainly a death sentence. This is both true. You're playing Russian roulette when you go in for a Roegadyn hug. Will it be the most magical and wonderful experience ever where all your fears, doubts, and worries melt away? Or will it be a literal bone crushing experience where your back is flattened to be as wide as a sheet of paper? Who knows… Only one way to find out though.

  6. Very good video and I can totally see how a Roegadyn hug both being awesome but not so awesome for your lifespan. Also these videos have been a great refresher on naming conventions after coming back from a break from FFXIV.

  9. As a roe: no I'm not going to marry you. But yes I am 100% going to hug every last one of you because everybody needs a good hug every so often. ;-;

    Also, unless I'm completely misremembering Sea Wolf names are based on Welsh! That's why there are all those sneaky ys in there. 🙂

  21. As the proud player of a FemRoe, I must confirm that all of this is true. Except for the part of them being peaceful. They are a proud and strong race that have no need for such trivial things such as love and affection and will not stand for such bald faced lies!

    (Okay, maybe one hug will be fine. But just one!)

  22. It should also be mentioned that, while rare, some Hellsguard keep a more traditional name, while some Sea Wolves take a two word translation of their first name. And example of the former is Fyrgeiss Loetkilbsyn and his son Zimberk Fyrgiesssyn, major characters in the 50 to 60 Blue Mage questline. There are no in game examples (that I know of) of the latter, but official sources say that, yes, naming a Sea Wolf something like "River Song" or a Hellsguard something like "Ahctsyng" is valid.

    I mean if you're some brittle boned non-tank that might be the case, but I'll gladly take the healing hugs of a roegadyn.

  36. As a Femroe player i can say this is so damn accurate lol. Also i'm the only Roe in my pretty big fc and because of that im the tallest member. My fc pals keep calling me "biggest women in eorzea" and I fckn love it 😀

  43. I'm a fem-Hellsguard, and when I mzfe my character, I thought I was going to be lame, as who wouldn't want to be a giant hulk of a woman with a thunderous laugh?
    Turns out a lot.
    And now I feel everyone is tiny
