Text Guide:
đUnlocking Ocean Fishing
Ocean Fishing can be unlocked at any time after completing the first Fisher Job quest. Just talk to Fhilsnoe at the Fisherâs Guild in Limsa Lominsa and follow marker to the dock at the edge of the city. After that youâll be free to register for Ocean Fishing voyages.
â”Voyages, Schedules, Routes, Baits
Every two Earth-hours, you can register to go on either the Indigo or Ruby Route Voyages. Each voyage is a unique combination of 3 different stops, and each stop with different fish. You can see which voyage leaves when, and which stops itâll make by talking to Dryskthota and asking to see the Sailing Schedule. Youâll also talk to her for when you want to register for a voyage.
Once you register for a route you will ALWAYS GO ON THE VOYAGE. You will either depart when there are 24 people ready to leave, OR at XX:15 (quarter past the hour), whichever comes first.
There are three baits: Ragworm, Krill, and Plump worm, which you can buy from the Merchants on the dock or on the boat itself.
đŁWhat to do, Voyage Mission, Wildlife Encounters, Spectral Currents
Once you get on the boat, apply a bait (the âbestâ bait will usually be called out) and start fishing! As you fish a few things are worth keeping a look out for.
Voyage Missions are goals you should try and achievement while on the boat, and grant a bonus multiplier to your points at the end of the voyage based on the number youâve completed (5%/10%/20%).
Wildlife Encounters are pure-random encounters where Dolphins or Seagulls will appear around the ship. They will either leave (not granting a buff) or stay (granting a unique buff).
Spectral currents have a chance to trigger whenever anyone on the boat catches a Spectral Fish before 1:30 left on the timer. They can be caught at any time, and the chance to trigger on catch is based on the number of people fishing â so you should always be fishing! Currents last 2 minutes by default, but if a spectral is cut short â or one does not trigger in at stop â the missed time is added on, up to 1 additional minute.
đČFinal scoring
At the end of the three stops, your points are tallied and bonuses are applied. You gain experience and scrip based on what you caught and your points. You will only get scrip if you have completed the quest âInscrutable Tastesâ and are over Lv50 Fisher.
Good luck and happy fishing!
