Oof, that is a very disappointing technical issue. I'm glad you got to make some lemonade out of those lemons you got handed.
Thanks for another wonderful video, and it's great to see you're still having fun. The story is picking up speed here, and I look forward to seeing the journey continue.
the incessant fetch quests are almost done … almost !
Now that you're getting close to the end of A Realm Reborn original storyline, I think it would be best for you to find someone who could boost you through the A Realm Reborn raid series. While not required for the story continuation, it contains crucial story pieces. Some people even treat it as the true A Realm Reborn ending.
It would be great if you manage to complete it before the 1st expansion starts☺
Regarding the connection losses you experienced: We all had those. FFXIVs servers were under massive DDoS attacks for quite some time, to the point that the main man, Yoshi-P himself, commented on it. Fortunately, it seems they've managed to gotten on top of it.
Still, sucks to hear that this compounded your own technical mishaps. But even so, glad to see you soldiering on! (^_^)b
"I just kill a bunch of guys and now I have their stuff" Ahh yes, classic murder-hobo D&D vibes 😋
"It's so exciting to see everyone reunite, and that is why I am even more excited to finally get to reunite with my friends if we can finally move on to that quest." Hahahahaha, that burn. I like ARR's world building in concept – and it is really helpful down the line if you can remember any of it – but in execution it keeps dragging the story to a stop. The writers learned from their mistakes in ARR, thankfully – although there is fetch-questing and worldbuilding in later expansions, they're handled with much more care. But there is still so much to love about ARR, especially in the early sections when you're a fledgling adventurer.
By the way, are you a part of the Novice Network? The idea of NN is that it's a linkshell for sprouts and mentors – if sprouts have any questions about the game or want help with a dungeon or whatever, they can ask and try to get help from some other people. In my experience on another server it wasn't very helpful and I left, but it may be different on yours. If you do ever want to join it, any of the mentors – people with crowns by their names – should be able to invite you, I think.
