  1. Game of Thrones actor Joe Dempsie who played Gendry Baratheon in the show is also an amazing voice actor and his voice acting of the Warrior of Darkness is amazing. So glad you are loving Alisaie she is one of my favourites. Looking forward to your end of HW character ranking.

  2. Welcome to Stormblood content / Story 🙂
I personally love Stormblood, but Shadowbringers & Endwalker is when the game truly shines…
Orrr maybe it doesn't. Who knows? (^w^)/

  3. The Warriors of Darkness are an incredible plot arc, easily meme'd on when first introduced and roasted for sure. But when you actually finish this questline it's just like…. you feel for them.

  4. you were close when it came to the masked doubles identity. its not the guy who gave his thumbs up to Gundobald as a reference, it was his friend who tried to kill himself by running off while he was weak and ill. even after getting the medicine for him, had to chase him down and save him from being killed by a group of mobs.

  5. The icons were introduced when EW first launched and they've been adding them retroactively as the patch cycle continues. Just as they've done with Explorer Mode. In that mode, you can freely walk around any dungeon you have completed and do stuff like GPose and whatnot, and you can even ride mounts and have your minions out.

Now as far as the Warriors of Darkness, I will say only this. The writers of FFXIV are very good at the long game. It is extremely rare for them to introduce a plot and not eventually resolve it in some fashion.

If you thought 3.4 was intense, is your mind, body, and soul ready for 3.5?

  6. Ah yes, Timothy Watson practically eating the mic during Urianger's speech and Alisaie becoming the proto-Red Mage. I don't recall if they'd announced Red Mage yet or if that came after this patch was released, but this was it's rough intro akin to Thancred switching up his fighting style all the way back in ARR while fighting the Sahagin with Yugiri introducing the Rogue and Ninja classes.

  7. Reliving these moments really does hit super hard when you know everything that's coming. It was just a teensy tiny moment, but giving Papalymo the Tupsimati had me in tears. I won't say more. I had totally forgotten that little detail. There was just sooooo much packed into this one single patch that is all super important. I cannot wait for your reactions going forward

  8. Sympathetic "villains" are a specialty of FFXIV, and the Warriors of Darkness are no exception. Also, Alisaie is so good that I started only calling Alphinaud "Blue Alisaie" going forward.

  9. Warriors of Darkness arc on itself might be pretty good. But you won't believe how it plays in the future.

Dragonsong war was pretty much finished at this point – it's pre-Stormblood setup now and boy, what a setup it is. Imagine that all of this, ALL OF THIS is part of the free trial. Yes, this is free trial content!

There is also Warring Triad arc, Shadow of Mhach Alliance Raid, Tribal quests (but those are for grind) etc, etc.

Fun fact – Wind-up Moenbryda's minion description was changed. Previous one was… weird. Like VERY weird and made some… strange… implications to Urianger.

  10. Alisaie was so mean about Thancred taking a long time to meet up with you. I don't know if she knows he's unable to teleport anymore due to losing his ability to manipulate aether at that point. It seems out of character for her to act like that toward an essentially disabled person (compared to other non-Garleans, anyway). Though I think they were still nailing down her personality here. Currently, she is one of my two favorite characters.

  11. 1:03 — Small sidenote: Ga Bu summoned Titan. It was his pain seeing his dead parents that gave rise to the primal (probably a combination of his despair and his desire to return them somehow… and all that too the shape of Titan since… well, lots and lots of crystals), hence why it attacked its followers and was nothing but a pile of rage. And its not so much shock that he is in, but partial tempering.

7:50 — Its actually very good that you play Bard here 🙂 Your Stormblood job questline will give you some background info about the… difficult relationship between the the eorzean city states and Ala Mhigo, and the reason why the Eorzeans are not too fond of the Ala Mhigans.

13:35 — My reaction to Yda and Papalymo "suddenly" showing up again was much the same. Even though ingame time is suprisingly condensed, I was still angry at them.

19:50 — No, it was the other guy who wrote you an introduction letter for Gundobald, saying you are a friend of his. The false Griffin here was the guy, who was close to dying and for whom you collected the medicine.

This is all set-up 🙂 Make sure you remember everything 😀

  13. I love how Alphi, despite being the most strategically minded of the current Scions, was the most in the dark of all the subterfuge happening around him. It puts a solid underline on the "intelligence != wits or wisdom" character trait of his. It also serves as an interesting contrast with his sister. Krile mentioned that both were prodigies and the youngest students ever to be accepted at the Sharlayan academy. But Alisae admits to not being as studious and scholarly as her brother. Her intelligence is clearly more of the wits/street-smarts variety.

Another nice thing is that, while the game doesn't make the side raids mandatory, it absolutely remembers if you did them and will alter cutscenes in ways that acknowledge the difference. For example, if you hadn't done Coils, Alisae would've been a lot more distant/formal with you upon meeting at the manor. Which makes sense because she'd really only know you through your reputation as "a good egg". But she's the sort who needs to see to believe.

So having done Coils, she knows first hand that you're as much a hero as the people say. She trusts you more, jokes, and opens up more easily. She's more confident in the star-watching and Warrior of Darkness scenes because you helped inspire her back in Coils to walk her path of helping people "on the ground".

And pretty much every raid and trial series has their own variation of those changes.
