  1. There’s many reasons we can lose people. Positive or negative reasons. But so long as we keep their memory, they will carry on.

Honestly, that’s something I’ve learned from this game. Those lost carry on beyond through the Echo, through our memories.

I have always loved Dad of Light because it always reminded me of when I started playing. Someone saw me struggling and helped me sort things out, and before I knew it, my family had grown.

Thank you for bringing us this video!!

May you forever walk in the Light of the Crystal, Maidy!! ❤

  4. I like to think every time we fly with our Nouliths he's giving us just a little push. Shadowbringers helped me with the sudden passing of my father. And he helped other get into this lovely game means we owe him a bit. As a fellow Gundam fan I know his soul is no longer bound by Earth's gravity.

  5. I started playing in '12, shortly after 2.0 dropped. Or it was '13? I dunno its been too long
In late '15 ir early '16 I quit because of some drama. Got sick not long after Dad of Light dropped. I watched it while laying with a fever in my bean bag chair. A few weeks earlier someone had gifted me Stormblood that they got from some promotion?

Dad of Light is why I've been playing ever since I got sick in '17

  6. He did log in into FFXIV after his discharge from the hospital and his last days. you can find the videos online. It was his last time logging into FFXIV saying goodbye to other players who gathered to wish him goodbye.

It was a couple of videos posted by a channel called Game Factory

  7. I didn't know that Maidy was a real player until now. This…This is why I play FFXIV. For people like him, for stories like this. And when I started, I met so many people who were like Maidy. Kind and generous, and carrying on his spirit. I hope that wherever he is, he's not only building Gundam kits, but having just as grand of an adventure as he had in Eorzea, and the land of the living. Rest in peace, Maidy, and may you ever walk in the light of the crystal

  9. I was blessed with meeting Maidy in game once and he took a picture with me, that I will treasure. I was also able to meet his father and some members of Giovinezza. I'll never forget his kindness to me and his love for the game he shared with everyone he could.

  10. I did not know of Maidy, but no one should ever have to suffer from cancer. It's a fate worse than death. But seeing what everyone is saying, I too want believe he went to the realm of FinalFantasy14. Forge ahead.

  11. I have been playing 14 off and on since the beta of ARR, and somehow I had literally never heard of Maidy until yesterday. But just hearing the first bit of this story is already so touching and knowing that he managed to touch the game in such a fundamental way and hearing the story of his dad got me right in the heart. How have I never heard about any of this before now?

  13. Thank you for this beautiful video. I had never heard of any of this before, but it's definitely a story worth telling and I'm sharing it in my FC's Discord as well. <3

I can definitely now see why Yoshi-P was so openly heartbroken when Sokken got cancer as well, and where the inspiration for Sage probably came from, which makes me appreciate the job that much more. 🙂
