  1. I’ll be playing healer scholar or sage, this strike is not going to effect me or my experience, I do agree that the self heals from other jobs need nerfed or the content needs to be harder cause healers are fine just not hard enough to make it impossible to clear content without one.

  2. EX/Savage/Ultimate : need healer
    Dungeons :
    – if new players : need healer
    – if good players : barely need healer, keep pressing 1
    – if warrior : go take a nap you're useless.

    Global :
    – need more than 1 attack button (as a whm, having Dia, Holy is not enough to make it exciting, in boss fight all you do is spamming 1, then Medica II after a burst of damage from the boss, and move to avoid aoe)

Will I do the healer strike :
    no

  3. don't listen to this vid it makes good points but just go on a wild extreme and just dont play healers at all guys, healers have been this way since shadowbringers casual stuff hell maybe even stormblood this isn't something new just dont play healers do the strike create chaos and have your casual stuff become harder and more fun

  4. I think you make a lot of good points and I think the drama side is silly and I am not one for drama, hence I am not involved. I don't think it's too early to judge and we've heard "wait and see many, many times before" but the core issues of the problem isn't going to be resolved by an increase in content difficulty, because, and you kind of make the point with Xenosys' run and that it's got to be accessible. The other point is that it also has to be balanced for Savage. It means downtime is inevitable and they're not adding anything new in terms of downtime.

"Wait and see" maybe only works so far as getting people to listen. But reasonable, constructive and well thought out criticise and discussion doesn't work, because it's what people have done for years, so I think /something/ attention grabbing was needed, but obviously I want it to result in something devs will listen to and no something people just dismiss off the bad.

But ultimately give healers a better DPS kit. That's all that's needed. Even if the new content has an increase in difficulty, the problems will stay the same, because healers need to be balanced around Savage content and also be accessible.

    So downtime is inevitable.
Give us to something to fill the downtime to make it engaging. I'd rather be healing, yes, but if I'm going to have to be DPSing because of downtime, at least make it engaging. The skill floor will remain where it is because DPS is not essential for healers in the majority of content and this is a change that does nothing to the healing kit.

Other things /could/ fill downtime, but the game has been designed in such a way that rDPS is kind, so it's not going to be like SW:TOR where having a series of crowd control skills will make a difference, especially when it comes to a boss. Although Blue Mage kind of makes it work, but Blue Mage is also considered too OP.

The problem is, YoshiP has highlighted before the problem of balancing something that's accessible but also interesting to experienced healers is a tough one. That I can empathise with, but he also expressed we wouldn't get more complex DPS kits, which is the solution to the problem, because you'll never find a balance where downtime isn't inevitable. Unless he turns his back on those comments or does something radical to shake up the game, other solutions/changes won't be meaningful enough to resolve the problem because of the way the game is designed.

  5. I think my thought is that if you are dissatisfied… just play something new without making a huge deal about it. It’s probably way more complicated then that but it feels like that’s what every other role is doing

  6. Let me just say NO. Anything that is going to be repeated a thousand times, isn't going to be engaging after a while. It's the concept of work. Even if you do something you used to love, if it's repetitive, it will stop being fun at some point.
I want my trash dungeons to be easy,. fast and with as little friction as possible. If I want to have a "rotation" as a healer or fun, I play Savage or Ultimates.

  7. Thing is, no one knows what the content of DT is gonna play like. And if devs are considering increasing the difficulty of the content, it best to wait and see how it plays first, no ?

  8. Didnt they do the dungeon on a 3 month old build?? isn't Xeno like one of the top 1% of players?? a lot of lower skill players find healing to be difficult and shy away from it I think this is the same thing as WOW when high skill players clear the highest of Mythic dungeons with no healers because of the speed to kill.

  9. "healers are dead in dawntrail" is the sentiment I've seen and my brother in christ we dont even have the content yet, lets hold off before we get too upset. Yeah dungeons arent hard but they're not supposed to be nut crushing, take the Burn for an example. They nerfed it cause the community complained it was too punishing, same with OG steps of faith, and a few othwrs i can't recall atm and now people complain dungeons are too easy. The best players can roll their tank cd's and man mode things. People have been manmode-ing things from ARR, and you can cite Xeno himself who started that stuff. Healers should have their job made a little more involved sure, and even as a tank, i think my self sustain should be lessened a bit, but if the content is gonna get hard, i would prefer my healers not get chokeslammed by mechanics and being concerned with 8/8 of the party, when the tanks can help take that stress with party shielding, self sustain, or throwing a regen or shield, instead of having to be super stressed by me getting my shit rocked, the OT getting clobbered, and the rest of the party near constantly at rocked because we've shit talked at the devs as a community a bit too close to the sun and the tanks and dps' (fairly minimal) self sustain got gutted

  10. Fun fact healers do have a lot of damage. I cleared an extreme MM with only healers, and I believe that only healers can also clear an entire dungeon because the dungeons in and of themselves are easy.

  11. Not only was this strike planned to be held way too early tbh, I also find they keep forgetting that the devs just fixed the dungeons to be played with Duty Support, made them better, some got very simplified. I just find it funny, that shortly after things have been made easier, it is suddenly too easy? Don't get me wrong, I miss the old dungeons but they were really mean when you had a whole group of newbies that had never done that one dungeon before (the one with the Garlean tools you needed to collect stuff for is a good example). I'm not sure how to put this better… but I feel like this whole ordeal shouldve been done after DT released and not before and also not simply judged on a single video?

  12. I just went into a Castrum run on Roulettes and the tank did not wanna put their tank stance on so i refused to heal them. Then they didn't use aoes in trash pulls or dodged aoes. So i stopped healing them. I think that people should play the game normally and not do stupid things like this. Like people are here to have fun!

  13. I was hoping to try out Picto while my husband goes Viper. I feel this will force me to keep healing if people don't play healer. Granted with 2 dps jobs, healers will be scarce along with tanks. It might just happen anyway.
Also to add. I understand the healer lul. It gets boring when people are too used to content. Lately things have been a bit more interesting though, a bunch of sprouts running content. More guidance needed, but entertaining none the less.

  14. People are desperate for content it seems -.- everyone calls it stupid, silly and useless (one word: trusts) because it is stupid, silly and useless. BUT EVERYONE IS F***ING TALKING ABOUT IT! pot? kettle??! Can we please stop talking about this nonsense and look forward to this weekend? Hell, like there was nothing else to be p***ed about…

  15. All I want is healers to have more dps buttons than one single target atk and one aoe atk. Take some cues from Sage and add potency buffs from doing dmg or combo between dps and healing abilities, Anything to make healers more engaging of a role!

  16. I don't think the strike would hold much when the release comes out. People already malding with something that has been in the game for years. And take note, all the simplification of the jobs are what the players wanted in the first place.

I've healed in savage content during its relevancy, and I can say that healers really need proper knowledge of when to use their kits during the fight. True the 1 button + 1 dot skill of the healer as a damage source is boring especially if you're in a static where you could communicate your heals, but if you're playing on PF, where sometimes your co-healer doesn't communicate much, you have to feel for their heals and adjust accordingly during the fight. Let's say you PF P12S with party 1, using your own heal plan with cohealer 1, your party is left with 30% hp to heal after a major mechanic, but with party 2, using the same heal plan but with co-healer 2, your party is left with 15% with 2 people dying. You also have to take note of the damage taken by your party due to mistakes.

So yeah, healer is challenging enough as it is if you're playing savage or ultimate fights, but that's a minority. For casual content, I don't think you have to stress yourself enough to mald about it. For midcore, it's just the absence or lack thereof of midcore content honestly and not really the healer's problem. So yeah, people would still play healer in DT regardless.

  17. I've recently been replaying Shadowbringers using a controller. While I definitely think there's things they could do to make healers more interesting there is reasons they want to keep them simple. Targeting on a controller is a lot more tedious than just clicking on a name in the party list. I'm sure players a lot more practiced than me can manage just fine but there's still millions of casual gamers that play FF14. Going too far in the other direction is a major concern for the devs that they've mentioned many times in the past. It was their justification for taking out a few of the dps abilities healers used to have and allowing them to focus more on their primary task. That said, the other jobs didn't have nearly as many self-sustaining tools as they do now so it's more like the role balance needs to be addressed not just healers. Another video made the suggestion of giving every healer more support abilities so they have ways to be active rather than just spamming one button during dungeons. As someone who loves Astrologian, I think this is a great idea even if it may mean my primary job isn't quite as unique anymore.

  18. “The healer strike doesn’t come from a malicious place”

Yes, it does. It comes from a very small number of emotionally unstable XIV players whose lives are riddled with issues. I KNOW you guys know what I’m talking about, because these sorts of drama queens are EVERYWHERE.

  19. the game is made for the masses not the few. i've read the healer's strike forum posts and those people come off as anti-sprout and entitled. i'm not saying there's no need for improvement but the organizing post of this strike is incredibly difficult to take seriously

  20. The kicker is I’m gonna have instant queues as healers and I grind fates as tanks. I had already planned to do Dawntrail as Astrologian and play with my friends as Warrior/Paladin. That’s free exp and money. And I have NPCs to do dungeons with me for my DPS. I cannot lose. I’m in absolutely no position to.

  21. I think this healer strike will actually hurt healers. You can’t form opinions on an expansion that hasn’t come out yet about the content. And that one no healer dungeon run was run by people who are professional raiders. Not everyone does that. Yes the content needs to be engaging but also done in a way casual players can enjoy. I feel like this strike is only going to hurt the game and players more than help.

  22. I main healer, for a while now, i've been feeling like im actually just dps. At least since stormblood really… I dont think the issue is dps having a way to self-fix a mistake, but it does seem like tanks have too much.

Im not so much angry… Im just kind of disappointed.

Ive mostly stayed out of the public discourse because opinions are so dangerous to have online…

Add to that that endwalker was a highly depressing xpac for me, and I havent played much after maxxing my classes.

I need a job that requires me to focus, since im highly distractable, healer still best fits that requirement, but I do wish it lived up more to the job description…

  23. How is it silly? It's funny how the healers have a normal discussion and talk about amazing points and all these sorts like yourself are just insulting them.
Probably looking for attention for your content and jumping on the hate bandwagon.

  24. No one is taking this strike seriously. The person that started this has never been in any hard content. If you want a challenge then get into extremes, savages and ultimates where you actually use the whole healer kit and balance your mana.

  25. As a healer main, the audacity of tanks pulling the biggest pulls (literally pulling 3 groups of mobs) without even asking the healer if it’s cool, or the tank literally standing in and ignoring aoe attacks bc it’s the healers job to keep everyone alive is sooo annoying. Like you can’t do that post-shd dungeons

  26. Dps ignoring damage telegraphs designed to kill them has been a thing since mmos were born. Dps not knowing they have aoe rotations and tanks not using damage mitigations OR all 10 of them at once happens when you let players pay to level up classes and jobs. When players skip story content, they will not know how various game mechanics work.

  27. Healers have been damaged for years. AST and SCH lost all of their unique skills and were stuffed with white mage abilties.

Healing lost its luster years ago and feels like they just balance them all the same instead of having the good feeling of them being different
