FFXIV Meets Warcraft | Transmogrification & Glamour Systems

Today we’re taking a look at the Glamour and Transmogrification systems found within FFXIV and World of Warcraft! Both of these systems exist to fulfil a similar goal : Changing the appearance of your armor and gear, allowing you to personalize your characters look.

The Glamour system is used in FF14, making use of prisms to cast new appearances on your armor. Whereas in WoW the Transmogrification system uses the in game gold currency at special NPC’s to cast the new look on to your gear.

We’ll be taking a look at how Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV go about reaching this goal in very different ways. This video is not meant to say which one is better, but rather to show you the different design philosophies used in creating each system.

Moving on we will be taking a look at even more aspects of these two MMO’s and comparing them. I find it quite interesting to see how these games go about accomplishing similar goals through different means.
