Understand These FFXIV DPS Rules To Help Maximize Damage

Don’t make these Final Fantasy 14 beginner mistakes like I did when I was a new player. Here are tips on how I improved as DPS (or your favorite monk!) in patch 5.5 and help guide beginner players from the embarrassment I faced!

As a monk I have made A LOT of mistakes,, and still do till this day! You can use this as a DO NOT beginners guide, but also know I still make these mistakes quite often LOL. The best part is the FFXIV community is awesome with wanting to help other players and hopefully this can contribute the your dps job growth.

  1. So I stumbled across this video as a recommended video just now and when you said about the mistakes made as a DPS from ourselves it reminded me of a super hilarious moment between myself and our FC

We were running Aurum Vale and it was going super smooth, except I was on DRG levelling my first job, I ran into the coin counter Aoe by mistake (before the update to show them) and as I was running out I got knocked way past my healer and died because of the hit

I wasn't aware of the time I had or anything and it was amusing because the healer was out of range and yeah it was funny

THEN after I got res'd up, I decided to go and shout "revenge!" jumping straight into the end of a cast of yet another Aoe causing me to die pretty much instantly upon going back into combat, needless to say we were in hysterics and heck, they haven't let me live it down even pointing out "hey with the Aoe marker maybe you won't die this time!" jokes on them, I still made that mistake immediately after the update because I wasn't sure on the time again lol

It's still funny to this day and I want folks to know its hella hilarious when you got the right family of FC members behind you, don't be afraid to make mistakes, but don't be afraid to learn from them either ^_^

  2. What first got me into ffxiv was watching lala be so amazing at it as a healer main back in stormblood and he would play all healers(not as much astro lol). It was like looking at ur idol but I wasn't confident to try healing and tanking wasn't even a real concept i understood much back then so I started as a pug. It was that or lancer but honestly punching felt kooler! 🙂
