About the queue when you log into the game, it's not exactly a real queue, at least not in the usual way we know it.
When there was a massive amount of players coming into the game near Endwalker's release, and especially during the first months of it, the queues where so insane that the devs had to implement a new login system to make it less stressful on the servers.
What they came up with was to created a multiple mini queues system. The system queues up to 100 players for 1 minute in a 1st queue. If more players try to log in, they get sent into a second queue that also last 1 minute, but it's timer only start when queue 1 is finished. Rinse & repeat for every 100 players mark. So queue 1 holds players 1 to 100, queue 2 holds players 101 to 200, queue 3 holds players 201 to 300, etc. Once the 1 minute timer ends all players in queue 1 gets sent into the server at once, then after another minute all players in queue 2 gets in, etc.
The only negative thing about the system is that it's always active, so it always seem like there's a queue to log in the game. But knowing how it works, as long as your queue number is under 100, you know there's no real queue going on.
Hope that helps Koe, and welcome to Eorzea! Take your time and enjoy the story, even if it doesn't seem all that great at first. The more you go through it and the more you start to learn things, the better it gets. If I get to catch a stream where you're playing the game and need people I can join in if you want. I have all jobs at max level so it wont be a problem for me to help out! 😀
To think that Koe's very first experience with FFXIV was a Lucy Pyre video. THANK YOU, KOE'S CHAT!
Lucky! We have to wait 90 days for benefits like PTO. 😅
Dunno if this got covered, but there is a Noclip documentary about 1.0 that is worth watching. Also, the 1.0 trailer could be worth watching early on. Many people will watch the expansion trailers as they get ready to enter it, and I think it's a good system. They can sometimes have spoilers so early is not always a good idea.
"Well, hello there, traveler. Haven't seen the likes of you around here! Mind, we see some many adventurers passing through, you'd think they were a flock of chocobos, the way they run around from location to location. With so much fervor, I often wonder what is they seek…
Actually, now that the topic comes to mind, what are you seeking? Power? Fame? Fortune? Perhaps…something more personal?
…
…Do you not have the mind to tell me? Or maybe your the strong, silent type? I hope you don't mind my asking; I am curious by nature, you see.
…
…Still no? Well, alright then. If you have the mind to keep your secrets, then I shall abstain from prodding further. Whether you are bound for Uldah, Limsa Lominsa, or Gridania, I'm sure someone such as yourself will have no troubles making your way. No matter where you go, there will be no shortage of helping hands willing to guide you to whatever it is you need. And if you are of the mind to reciprocate in turn, I hear an able group called the Scions of the Seventh Dawn are always looking for capable individuals to aid in their cause to heal and stabilize the realms.
…Well, whatever you plan to do, I at least hope you have fun doing it. The way the realms of have been these days since the fall of Dalamud, there's been no shortage of strife and suffering. As a matter of fact, I keep hearing rumors that the Garlean Empire has been mobilizing their forces as of late. What it is they intend to do, I haven't the foggiest, but given they've been silent these past five years, since the start of the Seventh Umbral Era, as a matter of fact, it likely will not be to the benefit of the realms. After all, rumor has it these invaders were the ones responsible for dropping Dalamud and freeing that blasted dragon, Bahamut, allowing him to lay waste to everything in the first place!
Ah, but but I digress. I believe we have arrived at your destination. If you have the mind to, you might want to consider visiting the Adventurer's Guild first and foremost, if only to get yourself situated. Oh, and sir?
Welcome to Eorzea. :)"
I am watching the FUCK out of this
Oh no, Lucy Pyre is his first introduction? 😆

::creates amusing alias::

XD
Oh hey you picked Cactuar, my home server. Maybe I'll see you around during your adventures in Eorzea. Welcome to FF14
main reason i belive we dont have wow on console basicslly raids require you use 3rd party software to do it properly
1:41:30 believe me please, when everyone on WoW jumped to FFXIV and SE hadn't expanded the servers the queue was in the thousands of players. It took hours to get on.
