I would think that new users beta testing would be a much less attractive option. They don't know the system like us vets do.
All the nonsense may actually be set by default and is more so for those that might have changed their settings from default to something else. Just to make sure people have it set proper if they did make changes. That said needing GP sucks.

Welcome new players
What's the point of this for existing players? Nothing. This is only for new players that are ONLY on xbox. So if you're planning to play FF14 to endwalker or graduate from free trial you have pay 1 online sub fee + ff14 sub fee. Double payment. Why.
I own an Xbox one, and knowing that it's not gonna be on older gen even tho it's on ps4, sucks, but understandable.
To make a new account to be able to play the test as an existing player you will need to make both a new microsoft account and a new square enix account.
If you link your existing microsoft or your existing square account to a new account, you will not be able to unlink them in the future!
is it even FFXIV if it doesn't have a convoluted purchasing/install process?

Ugh figured it would be new players only, wanted to do the Beta on my existing account so I could easily play in my living room.
One thing to point out here with the free trial is you HAVE NO TIME LIMIT. It's only a CONTENT LIMIT. So you could play on a free trial account for YEARS and never have to pay a cent. That said, you can't general chat or use the market board and stuff, but there's no real reason you have to. Just letting all the potential new xbox people know.
That first privacy instruction part is part of why FFXIV struggled to come to XBOX. Microsoft is known for its security to protect the player base.
Its gonna cost Xbox players at least 23 bucks a month to play. Thats a lot.

Kinda disappointed that only new accounts can participate in the beta. When I heard it was going to Xbox, I fired up my OG PS4 and made an account. In terms of game pass, not a big deal for me since I have it already. I guess it's a deal breaker for those w/o game pass.
another big problem, will be the Xbox controller triggers..,they are not made for such intensive gameplay like FF14 (many will go bust..)
