Final Fantasy XIV: How to tell if there's a bot in your party

No way that’s not an actual bot.

  1. My first experience with bots was a 4 person party and the other 3 players were bots. They teleported from boss to boss and floated on top of the boss so they ignored the AOEs.
What I didn't understand is since it was a 3 bot party, it was probably someone who had 3 bots in a party. But then why not just have a 4th bot so you have to have an actual player join and realize something is wrong when the dungeon starts and the rest of you party vanishes into thin air and you see them standing on the boss's head.

  2. i honestly don't think its possible to tell bots from players, i saw some good players, and i saw some bots that were player like, i think some are lazy and use complete automation while some move themself and let a program handle all the abilities, generally, unless i see someone run back and forward, doing instant turns, or teleporting, i wouldent be able to tell if it is a bot or a player.

so bot can either look dumb, or look like a player that way too good at multitask and targeting, there is no way to really tell unless you are a dev and activly look into spesific user activety.

  3. I didnt personally experience this until yesterday we were in eureka and the damn thing was walking directly in lv 65 mobs getting killed in the process. One of the team mates called it out dude said I'll stop next nm there he goes botting again. Needless to say we gave him the boot

  4. I'm hella late to this video but as someone who has tipped their toes in the wonderful world of botting, this is most likely a bot.

To my knowledge there are 3 main bots for XIV.

    MMOMinion
    RebornBuddy
    Miqobot.

Miqobot is more or less a macro/hotkey bot so there's little to no automation at all

I haven't touched RebornBuddy so I can't say much about it.

MMOMinion however, that requires addons, and a lot of them.

From what I'm seeing your little miqo friend there appears to have little to no addons, I don't even think they have an ACR (Advanced Combat Routine (Basically your rotation)) for their class, considering that this video was posted shortly after EW dropped, meaning that addon devs had little to no time to work on ACRs for the new classes.

I reckon what's going on here is.. they have a basic duty finder addon that allows them to run content via duty finder (whether it's for questing or just for levelling, who knows) and they created their own skill profile (basically a budget mans ACR that anyone can make without coding knowledge) and don't have any avoidance addons that allows them to scan for AOEs to avoid them.

Most botters with more than 5 braincells will bot on 4 accounts together, ultimately avoiding any 'human' contact which is the safest way to bot.

The best way to check if someone is a bot is to do what you guys did, turn around and run backwards to see if they'll follow.

Oh and I believe the reason as to why they were turning that way was due to the botter forcing standard movement on a script that only supports legacy movement.

Anyways that's enough rambling for me haha.

  5. I never understood after a guildhest the team just standing there for minutes not exiting the dungeon. Now I'm thinking they are bots. In any other roulette people are racing to the exit

  6. i mean tbf my g/f who plays honestly dies to most effects just cuz she is not that good at MMOs. She loves the crafting and all but the dungeons we run im sure other people think she is a bot cuz she dies at least once a dungeon but she is not she just very inexperienced (like less that 2 months ever playing MMOs)

  7. The other day I saw a mob attacking a hillside. I clicked on him and saw that he was actually targeting a bot.

My question is: If I killed the mob, would it mess with the bot? Can I kill steal from bots for kicks or is there literally no point?

  8. To add to the weirdness: I noticed that the bot changed their Title at the end of the dungeon. For the actual run they were Steppe Warrior, but whilst waiting/rotating at the exit they changed it to Lyse's Right Fist.
