TITLE: Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
DEVELOPER: Square Enix
PLATFORM: PC (Steam)
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is the fourth expansion pack to Final Fantasy XIV, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It was released on December 7, 2021, over two years after Shadowbringers, the previous expansion, with its production delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Like its predecessors, Naoki Yoshida served as director and producer and Masayoshi Soken composed the soundtrack. The expansion pack was released as a standalone product for current players; for new players, the “Complete Edition” that originally launched with Heavensward was updated to include all expansions including Endwalker.
In Endwalker, players as the Warrior of Light travel to the secluded nation of Sharlayan to seek help in handling the approaching Final Days, an apocalyptic event that threatens to destroy the entire world. Meanwhile, Zenos, the mad son of the former emperor of Garlemald, has murdered his father and now seeks a final confrontation with the Warrior of Light. Zenos is assisted by the nihilistic Ascian Fandaniel, who wants the Final Days to occur so everyone, himself included, is wiped out. The story has been marketed as the “finale” of the Hydaelyn–Zodiark arc, drawing the current ongoing story since A Realm Reborn to a close, with an entirely new story beginning in the major patches following release, in contrast to past expansion’s stories continuing into midway thru the post-release patches. In addition to adding new areas, the expansion pack increases the level cap to 90 and debuts two new Final Fantasy “jobs”, Sage and Reaper among other changes.

"I was not mentally prepared for this". I see what you did there, Dekumon. 😂
Well, Dekumon, this may not be the right place to say it, but now I join you in the chaos that is Elden Ring, got it in christmas, I put something close to 40 hours in, running around trying to do questlines and progressing the story. I am already at the academy, though I am trying to not pregress to fast through the main story as there are some really good questlines I don't want to miss.
I am also stepping out of my normal playstyle of stuff like pure melee and mage/pyromancy, and doing a faith build and I will say, there are some pretty crazy spells you can get that are a huge help, thank goodness for Sacred Blade ash of war, that spell has carried me through a lot of what I have progressed through.
Yep. Anima was Seymour’s Aeon in X. But difference was Anima was made from his mother.
Ah yes this certainly happened.
The most traumatic duty so far. "In from the cold" indeed.
Ah yes, the part of the game that gave me and much of the fandom a literal PTSD reaction for months after release lol
It's so ingenious in the way it conveys how weak ordinary people are compared to you. Also, really, truly making you feel powerless to stop anything that's happening. Zenos enters your body without your express consent as a display of strength, power, and control. Make of that, metaphorically, what you will.
Needless to say, this section has major psychological staying power and it's one of my favorite bits of Endwalker.
