  1. Yep, I really enjoyed Lyse as a character and her development. I haven't been part of the ff community though and I wonder how much of the overall narrative around Lyse (as well as other things) are impacted heavily by other opinions. If enough people say a character is bad, I think a decent amount of players will generally just buy into that.

  2. Yeah… your analysis of Stormblood is fair. It seems rather unfair that it it sits between the 'critically acclaimed' Heavensward and the incredible expansion we got with Shadowbringers.

But all in all, I loved Stormblood. At that point in the story, Lyse was my favourite Scion and my favourite waifu. I won't spoil it, but Thancred ends up being my favourite scion from Shadowbringers onward, but Lyse is still my favourite waifu as of where I'm at right now at the end of the 6.1 content. I'm still crushed about what became of Minfilia. I mean she was my waifu in ARR.

  3. glad you took that approach to it. Since its been out for awhile now I suppose its hard for ppl not to tell you to set expectations. Absolutely a World Building expansion, but that doesnt detract from the stellar boss designs/dungeons and VAs. Very interesting story points just paced awkwardly is all. Always glad to tune in to your stream and watch you blow shit up as a BLM(and dying too) loads of newly introduced mechanics got me. Chat loves laughing cause they know it got them too for their first time! Enjoy the Raids fuckin grand gameplay awaits!

  4. FFXIV players are so spoiled we can say that Stormblood was "bad" because we are comparing it to what came before and what comes after. It's a solid expansion, it's just not stellar compared to what's around it.

  5. I don't know, Stormblood hit me different, it's the most real story FF has, it's about the horrors of war, and some people can relate to that, had a minimum of fantasy. And that's why I loved it.

  6. Stormblood had an alright story to me, but, wow, the trials and raids of Stormblood were on a completely different level(not the Alliance Raid to me), I had so much fun with the Epicness of Fights like Susano and the non patch content Final boss (It would probably be rude to say the boss's name). Dungeons also feel like they got pretty fun as well in SB, and, my god, the Raids(Not the Alliance ones), even though some of them absolutely destroy me, are so much fun.

  7. It's really amusing having played FFXIV when Stormblood and Shadowbringers came out. Stormblood was very well received when it came out. Everyone agreed the story wasn't as strong as Heavensward but the player base was happy with it. The gameplay improvements in Stormblood were the big stand out for the expansion. Then Shadowbringers hit and it was like they turned everything up to 11. It was wildly popular and they took all the lessons and success from previous expansions and improved on everything. That was when everyone started bad mouthing Stormblood for not being as awesome as Shadowbringers.

It's good to see something of an outsider view (although, I don't consider Accolonn an outsider). I've been defending Stormblood for over 2 years. Glad to see a lot of people coming to FFXIV agree.

  8. I'm glad you enjoyed stormblood :3 only thing I liked about it is zeno, yotsuyu and the steppe. But I agree with you on the world building. When you get to eureka, bozja and the alliance raids even more of the world and lore opens up to you. I guess I'm biased but I feel Fodola was a better version of Lyse because it feels like the war actually affected her. Lyse's attitude just threw me off and that's what annoyed me. It felt like Hien was telling me she grew instead of her actually growing. I, genuinely, love fodola's character and story.

  9. I am with you. ARR wasn't bad. It felt like standard MMO fare until the massive payoff at lovely dinner party, and then I was completely sucked into the story. You follow that with Heavensward and the excellent MSQ storyline. Stormblood never seemed bad to me. I started playing in the middle of Stormblood. I didn't care for Lyse, but that was because I felt like she robbed me of Yda, who I really liked. Stormblood had some amazing moments!

  10. Shadowbringers was a borderline magical experience. The game made me feel things to a degree that almost made me feel like a real human being instead of the soulless meat puppet I really am.

  11. I enjoyed it more than Endwalker personally, which I think is the worst expansion by some way. Stormblood is not as bad as people say but it’s not the best either. It suffered from not being completely focused in the Far East/Kugane region, as those parts were as good as anything else in the game. But Zenos and Ala Mhigo was a bit flat and could be boring.

  12. What what??? You just finished Stormblood? I thought you were already done with Endwalker lol

Dude you are in for a fucking treat. And when you are done with Endwalker, you are going to shit on WoW even harder after what you see what this game can do.

    Enjoy dude!

  13. Stormblood's biggest crime is being exceptionally boring in the early Othard sections. There was no Shadowbringers to look forward to. What you saw was what the game was and I couldn't deal with it at the time. Heavensward was just too much of a high for me. I ended up experiencing the same thing with Legion going into BFA and I stopping playing MMOs altogether until the Endwalker announcement.
