Best Zone: Elpis – Such a pretty zone and I love walking up the tower scene)
Best Dungeon/Song: Vanaspati / As the Sky Burns. That dungeon with the music instills fear of yourself turning into the horrid monsters that you are attacking and with the burning of the jungle and village was just heartbreaking to play through.
Best Boss – Zodiark as how Sophie explains it. 🙂

Boss: Endsinger… I just felt it was such an epic fight! can't wait for its EX version next patch. Gotta farm the 99 totems on it

Oh don't worry, you're not the only one. Many, many fans LOVE Garlemald as a zone & story in EW. For me it's definitely Elpis number 1. Then Garlemald and Ultima Thule number 2. And Aetherial sea actually is the Lifestream. It's the same thing. BTW. Hermes is amazing. Amon's end in Aitiascope made me bawl.

Live Die and Know isn't part of Ktesis Hyperborea though if you're considering cutscenes that are part of boss encounters, that 'encounter' ends when you and Venat spy on Emet and co when they leave the dungeon (since iirc, that is the hand in quest when you're out of the dungeon). Live, Die and Know is the end of the Elpis zone.
Everyone loves our little baby bird Meteion. Still haven't got the damn bird from Dead Ends though… Hope we can invite characters to our islands when they come.
Best Zone: Ultima Thule. The presentation, scope, and lore of Ultima Thule blew me away. The tragic beauty of the zone, its loneliness, its story, and the way it ended on a note of hope. Just perfection. (Honorable Mention: Elpis)
Best Dungeon: The Dead Ends. If you paid attention to Meteion's descriptions of the fates of the dead worlds, you realize that you visit several of them here. Incredible callback to that entire cutscene that capped off Elpis, and the presentation and lore were incredible. (Honorable Mention: Ktisis Hyperboreia).
Best Track: Now and forever: Answers. DAMN THE RULES. (Honorable Mention: also Answers)
Best Boss: The Endsinger. Insane mechanics, glorious fight. (Honorable Mention: Hydaelyn (sob))
Best Zone: Elphis but the last zone is a close second
Best Dungeon: The Aitascope but Tower of Babil is starting to grow on me
Best Music Track: Flow/Footfalls/Maker's Ruin depending on the mood (and I don't count Answers as part of the EW track even though it's still my all-time favorite) but damn the tracks for EW is solid
Best Boss Encounter: Hydaelyn for me… After Elphis and Aitascope that trial just broke me
Also, Best Moments: Live, Die and Know and Urianger meeting Moonbryda's Parents.
Zone: Elpis – For pretty much every reason Soph said.
Dungeon: Dead Ends – The gravity of where you are at in the story, and it showing the demise of other stars. Honorable mention to Tower of Zot being the best designed in terms of repeatability.
Song: With Hearts Aligned – The final phase of the level 90 MSQ trial. The hype of it with the speeches is just great.
Boss: All 3 Trials – It is cheating, but it is too hard to choose between them. They are all so well made, and the extremes are great too. I can not wait for the third EX.
Favorite Zone – Elpis
Favorite Dungeon – Story wise The Aitiascope ( Gameplaywise i liked Ktisis Hyperboreia more )
Favorite Music – Cant decide to many good onces tbh almost loved all of them! ( it would be Answers for sure if thats a legal move hahaha )

Don't think anyone sane person would knock you for loving Garlemald, it was so damn good! I actually enjoyed every zone so much, they all had really memorable moments. Elpis was the most unreal for me though, it was like the best fanfic becoming canonized.

Best Zone: Elpis. For Garlemold… I dunno, I expected more…?
Best Dungeon: Tower of Babil. Why? Anima. Little dissapointed it wasn't harder, or a trial, but, we got Anima.
Best Song: Going to go with Finality, the end boss theme for the dungeons.
Best Encounter/Boss: Despite what I said above – Hydaleyn. The crystals, the flood of light, hearing what she meant by Hear, Feel, Think… just a beautiful fight.
Best Character: Does actual Hythlodeaus count? He is best friend. If so, him. If not, my second pick would be Metion. She is precious and adorable.
Zone: Elpis by far just for the amount of lore it gave us expanding on the story we know even further.
Dungeon: Tower of Babel that theme song is a banger, the FF4 bosses was neat. Also seeing Anima in the game was cool.
Music: Footfalls & Close the distance are great but the piece of music that got me was Hopeful Dynamis. When it played when Meteion was surrounded by the Elpis flowers and Hermes said those words and she breaks.
Boss: Hydaelyn & Endsinger just for the sheer incredible set piece it was.
Funny Cobrak said Hermes/Amon/Fandy cause they are Ishakawa's favorite character to write.
Best Zone: Elpis, although Ultima Thule is a very close second. Both of those zones, similar to Amaurot in SHB, just really invoke this sense of… homecoming but also loss? for me. They just nailed the bittersweetness of all those zones!
Best Dungeon: Vanaspati. I remember just being absolutely frantic when I first went in there, and now that I realise the second boss is a skinned elephant's head, I can't unsee the horror…
Best Song: Close in the Distance! I've been in love with that song since I first heard it in the launch trailer and its use in the MSQ makes it even more endearing to me
Best Boss: Endsinger is a close second (that being said, I'm not much a fan of bosses that have a stupidly easy last phase mechanically, even if it's for story reasons), but I think I probably like Hydaelyn the most. I was holding out hope the entire time that Hydaelyn was protecting us despite the theories about her actually being the villain and being able to see how much she cared for us was just so 😭😭 I also totally can't wrap my head around Zodiark's mechanics either 😅
On a few things that are mentioned in the video, I understand wanting to see Mitron and Loghrif, but iirc Elpis specifically is a facility where concepts are tested to see if they can live in harmony? I like to think that each Convocation member hangs around an area/facility for their speciality, similar to how Pandaemonium is Lahabrea's facility.
On Meteion, as much as I did like her, in the end I still found it quite hard to forgive her at the end of everything. Maybe it was because I had my guard up about her during the entire Elpis arc, but I just couldn't relate to the Meteia's logic. At the time, it just seemed that they selfishly came to a conclusion about what the world/humanity was worth and selfishly wanted to impose a "solution" onto everyone regardless of their feelings. For the first time in this game, I had a genuine reaction of "no, I don't want to forgive you" re: any antagonist when I first saw the scene with her after the Endsinger fight and she reaches out her hand. That being said, now that I've taken some time to think on it and watched a few playthroughs, I've definitely been able to look at it differently and that whole scene makes me cry now haha. I'm excited to play through it again in NG+ to see if I have a different perspective!

Zone: Garlemald. Love all of them, but this just felt the most complete to me. It may not have been as petty as others, but the feel is just perfect.
Dungeon: Tower of Zot. While I am so tempted to say Aitiascope or Vanaspati for story or visual design reasons, ultimately I feel like dungeons are the meat of the gameplay and that has to be the biggest factor in my decision. And with that in mind, Zot is an easy choice. Love the bosses in that one, and the final Magus Sisters fight might be my favorite dungeon fight in the entire game, not just Endwalker.
Music: Maker's Ruin/Footfalls (Endsinger phase 2). Don't know if it has a more proper name, but this theme was just the best. The fusion of the main theme of endwalker with the theme of the warrior of light was just so epic, nothing can really beat it for me (at least so long as Answers is an invalid choice). The fact that this is the first time we get to hear the "song of hope" part in game is just icing.
Boss Encounter: The Final Day. I'm assuming this means Trial/Raid, since we already covered dungeons. They were all so good, and while Zodiark (or maybe one of the Raids) might be my favorite by gameplay, unlike with dungeons, the gap is not large enough for it to overcome how much I love everything else about The Final Day.

I really enjoyed watching the journey you two had all the way through. It puts a smile on my face every time.
favorite zone: garlemald for the same reasons (honorable mention: the moon)
favorite dungeon: ktisis hyperboreia (first and foremost because of the special trust, but also because of all of the different biotopes) (honorable mention: last MSQ dungeon)
favorite music: not sure what it is officially called but the one that is apparently connected to emet and hythlodeaus and plays e.g. when we summon them back. i especially love the piano part and the brass flourishes (honorable mention: first trial, absolutely epik)
favorite boss fight: if it's just the trials i'd say zodiark, dungeon bosses is hard. i love the tower of zot last fight because it's so busy, but it's hard to say.
endsinger is a cool fight but after doing it once it is relatively easy in comparison.
favorite character (even if not asked for) is still emet. he is just glorious. (honorable mention of course hythlodaeus)

Answer have a whole another level of meaning. but i have to pick Flow. just from lyric "Oh, I have long waited you patiently all this time" and "deep, dark, far away i have heard your voice with your every choice" make me cry really hard. i really feel bad for doubt her even just for a bit.

Zone: Elpis. Loved meeting Venat and Meteion. Most of my favourite cutscenes are here, with both the most important reveal and the cutscene that defines the whole story so far. And I like how your being in the past gives you the opportunity to take a break from the panic of the returned Final Days. And after you're done:
"when you truly understand what is at stake", you realise you do.
Honourable mention: Mare Lamentorum. Great atmosphere outside (music) and Loporrits.
Dungeon: The Dead Ends. Interesting to visit the other worlds briefly, last area is gorgeous and it transitions nicely to the trial. I haven't done the extra dungeons yet btw.
Honourable mention: Ktisis Hyperboreia. Important for story and I like jumping higher and higher in the 3rd section.
Speaking of the trial:
Boss: Endsinger. I could look at planets colliding and reforming all day. And the final phase gets me too emotional. Also Big Fat Tacos So Big.
Honourable mention: Zodiark. 'Already?'
Cool mechanic and music. Hydaelyn's good though. THINK! dies
Song: Flow. It's Hydaelyn singing to you basically. Endwalker made her/Venat my favourite character. And referring to my comment on the community tab for your review; when you play Lalafells and the lyric is 'well come and well met, my brave little spark', that just gets me so much. I love my lil buddies.
Honourable mention: that female vocal section in footfalls, that is also in Zodiarks and Endsingers theme, the lyrics of which forms the names of the msq achievements.
Best Zone : Elpis [ it's massive and beautiful with a hint of mystical feel of the ancients ]
Dungeon : Atiascope [ before the Hydaelyn trial. Meeting former allies bring the tears. the crystal part of the dungeon reminds me almost of FFX Macalania woods]
Music : Your Answer [ it hits the feels at the right spot ]
Boss Hydaelyn [ Mommy Venat, step on me please xD]

If you look at the vista entry for the Cthonic Horns, as well as a sidequest, it says that's where some scholars practice traditional breeding research. Loghrif's job concerned animal husbandry. I'm holding out hope she shows up. Ancients as the third beast tribe even.
Zone: Elpis EZ
Dungeon: Dead Ends, and the two bonus dungeons. Aitiascope is my least favorite – the setting and lore is great, but it just doesn't really feel like a dungeon, and the bosses are so forgettable.

Soph's Favorite, Your Answer, is actually an answer song to Answers. There was a recent interview with Ishikawa and Soken and they touch this.
I lost my mother long ago to cancer so Flow and Close in the Distance both have me crying over and over.
any encounter in this game should be taken by story, not mechanics…because you dont play a game for mechanics and such…you play it for the story. if you want mechanics you co play something like overwatch or lol or whatever…you play an rpg for the story, not mechanics and such…
Also you guys clearly didnt read what the devs are sayin…ew is finished, a new story is starting, they are shifting the style of storytelling, and the expansion will be the end of the story, not 3 more patches to tell it…
