  16. FF14 currently experiences a huge amount of new players, which is why all the servers are congested and only at very few times (mostly during late night/very early morning for EU) allow new character creation ^^' Also, no matter what class you choose in the beginning, you can play all classes on this one character 😀
    Rogue/ninja is a class you pick up in Limsa Lominsa, it's not a starter class but you will be able to choose it later on 🙂

  37. It's hard to make new characters right now unfortunately, but since you saved the appearance, you can just load it when you try again – so you don't have to redo it. Creating a character on a server works in kind of a silly way: if the server has a login queue, you can't make a new character. Right now a lot of the servers have login queues a lot of the time. So it's best to make the character in the very early morning when there isn't a queue. (They really need to change this.)

    They also recently changed it so Free Trial players can't log in on worlds with a login queue since the queues were getting long for paying players. But you can right click the character's name in the character select (after making it) and instead of joining normally, choose to "travel" to a different world for your play session, and it will temporarily log you into a different world that doesn't have a queue at the moment.

    Your race's starting stats don't really matter. The starting stats are only like 5-10 different from one another, but your gear will eventually give you hundreds or thousands of stats.

    You can also pick any job you want. You can play every job on the same character – you don't really make alts like in WoW. There's just a quest to start leveling any new job you want, and once you have it, you can swap between your jobs just by changing which weapon you're holding (equipping a bow swaps you to archer, equipping a spear swaps you to lancer, etc.).

    Rogue is the only basic class you HAVE TO pick up from a quest – you can't start as a rogue. You have to get to at least level 10 in another class (or 15 depending on which city you start in), then start the rogue quest in Limsa Lominsa.
