FFXIV: Endwalker Gladiator/Paladin 1 to 90 Leveling Skills Guide

New? Got too many skills? Made the mistake of using a level skip and have no idea what anything does? Just hate reading? Try this guide out!

This guide seeks to teach new Paladins how to Paladin properly, without getting too deep into optimization. I’ll be showing off and explaining some openers but not delving too much deeper beyond that and general skill usage. Endgame is a long way away and there’s lots to learn along the way. Start slow and work your way up one skill at a time! Then, graduate to more advanced guides.

  1. Eyyy, THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! Even if PLD has been my main for two years now and have little reason to use this one, it still brings me some weird comfort to have gone through this

  2. For shield lob, i like to use it while running with trash, just to maintain aggro. I just cycle through the enemies behind me and give them a couple of hits each as i run. It's helpful when AoE doesn't reach all the enemies

  3. Another use for shield bash, and pretty much the only reason I put it back on my hot bar, is in Castrum Meridianum, specifically with that one giant robot that gives itself a massive defence buff. With proper timing you can save a good few minutes of an already long run, granted the timing is an absolute pain to do, I think it’s 85, 65 and 35% are when you should shield bash
But due to the changes coming to that dungeon this fight and it’s mechanics might not even happen anymore.

Edit: also, is it wrong to say I use a macro on Invervention? I know Macros aren’t the best but it’s such a convenience. My party list is tanks, healer and dps, making it target number 2 will always be either my cotank or my healer. Granted that’s on my main hot bars, I do have a secondary hot bar for targetable skills to quickly press the party member and then the skill and target the enemy agai

As for Divine veil and Clemency, I get a lot of use out of it for those moments where you can’t target the boss. Throw up veil, use clemency, party is protected. It’s a small thing.

  4. You brought up something really important during the clemency portion. TRUST YOUR HEALERS. I cannot stress enough to all tanks. TRUST YOUR HEALERS. until the entire party dies, trust that the healer is doing their job. at anything lvl 50 and above healers have so much in our toolkits and even abilities that heal more the lower your HP is. TRUST YOUR HEALER

Great guide as always, you are the best wesk

  5. I really hate the fact that SE still hasn't defaulted tank stance on at the beginning of a duty. The option should be to turn it off, as keeping it on is generally more useful.

  6. When I first started playing Shadowbringers I got to a raid boss called "Titania", I died to 4 SEPERATE aoe attacks, back to back to back…since then i have NEVER trusted ff14 healers at all. Like I wouldn't trust a healer to watch my pet goldfish if it was in a tank meant for a shark and bg itself levels lol
