Triple Triad Time! Getting Every Achievement in FFXIV #44

Welcome back to another exciting week of Final Fantasy XIV, where we’ll be taking on Triple Triad achievements for the first time in this series. I was a big card collector back in Shadowbringers, but have been neglecting the grind ever since. Now today we’ll be taking a look at what it takes to get caught up for Dawntrail…

  1. The servant in the Leveilleur estate was brutal. I must've spent over an hour winning, losing, drawing, and she would not cough up her card. What's even better is on the wins and losses, her comments say that she used to play with the twins, which is why Alisae is such a poor loser and Alphinaud is so strategically minded.

    It was her!

    Celia, My enemy, my friend.

  2. Sorry to say, but you absolutely do need the special Ex cards for achievements XD I have every base card (not the Ex's, missing 4 from tourneys) in the game save 1, and I'm still 3 cards short of getting the achievement to unlock that one haha There just aren't enough cards in the game currently to get that one yet without the ex's. Obviously you can always wait for more cards to release though 🙂

  3. It is incredibly ironic that the only time anyone wants wuk Lamat to show up (as a card for an achievement), she’s can’t. Thanks to Blue Mage! Guess BLU really is the most overpowered job. LOL! SMIIILLLLEEE AND LET THE RAINBOW SIIIIINNNGGGG

  4. I could have finished the DT MSQ faster if the damn triad players would have given me the cards…but I refused to continue until I got them.

Also good to not for those just starting their triad journey (or starting their XIV adventure in general) start as soon as possible so you can get the dungeon/raid drops passively while doing MSQ or roulettes so you dont have to hard grind them later. Also using a tracker to find out what NPCs you have to beat and which ones would be locked behind side quests are also important but not super required.

  5. People that claim to understand Plus claim to like it, but they get real silent when they get plus combo'd combo'd combo'd on the last turn. There's a website called arrtripletriad that functions as a checklist for cards and duels you might be able to use. I haven't been subbed in years so I don't know how consistently updated it is these days but it looks like it's at least up to 7.0. In my experience the recommended deck is almost always poops, you could probably build a better one with whatever you've got. You're also probably going to want to jump on the tournament bus sooner than later because that's very time gated. And last, for a good time drag a m8 to the Typhon GATE at the Gold Saucer and challenge them to a duel on the stage. I used to call those shadow games. All of my progress towards the Typhon achievement comes from those.
