  8. I do on some level feel bad for Emet Selch. Faced with the burden of killing half the planet’s population in order to save it, both his best friends seemingly abandoned him and when the world was sundered, one friend was permanently lost to him while Emet himself continuously killed the many fragments of his other friend.

  10. I largely agree with this list.

    I would swap numbers between Emet-Selch and Estinian, and trade out X’Rhun with Krile. (mostly because I have barely no interaction with him as I don’t play casters)

    I do have a huge list of characters I wish I knew more about though – like the lalafell captain in the fates at Poor Maids Mill and Jalzahn.

  11. Great list! I agree with pretty much everyone on this list. I'd hoped we'd see more of the sky pirates since this expansion is focusing on the void, but at least we got them in the Tataru quest.

  14. Awesome list! I think Estinien is my #1 favorite character too! He's so cool and badass and his kinda mean (which funnily enough i normally dont lean towards in character preferences) but devoted to the ones he really cares for really gets me. I think my other favorites would be (in no particular order):

    – Hythlodaeus: Ok maybe he's not nearly as cool as Emet-Selch but I'll never forget how Hythy's very warm and friendly personality touched me back in ShB and how he continued to do so in EW. The fact that he's very smart and has a great dyanmic with Emet-Selch is a big plus.

    – Ardbert: Didn't expect one of the best parts of ShB to be a ghost following you around, slowly regaining hope he once lost in his world's survival, but it is and I'm all for it! I can still never think about "If you had the strength to take another step, could you do it?" without tearing up.

    – Nero: Hands down favorite Garlean character. I love his rivalry with Cid and all the things he does to try to beat Cid in like… anything I guess I find are pretty funny imo.

    On a side note, while I don't disagree with Minfillia being one of the worse characters, I also just feel bad for her since she was done dirty by not allowing the post 1.0 players having a chance to truly experience the story before ARR. Never got to play 1.0 myself but according to those who did, her character development mostly took place in that timeline. To paraphrase one of those people, what happened to Minifillia was like if Thancred's character didn't exist pre-ShB

  15. I like all of the scions but I think Alisaie is my favorite. In the tail end of Stormblood when the scions were dropping like flies, she started losing her composure and really showed that as tough as she acts, she's absolutely terrified of being left alone. They gave the whole relationship dynamic an almost paternal feel when she latched onto the warrior of light and leaned on us for support. It made it an easy choice in Shadowbringers when we picked which twin to go after first.
