Absolutely HATE how they kept forcing Zenos on us, it totally ruined the ending of Endwalker with HIM being the last person we fight.
03:19:18 She broke ^^ that music don't help
If you had stopped malding during the fight you might have been able to enjoy yourself and understand why the last of it was done with bare knuckles lol
MagiKat, the entire conversation that Zenos has with you at the end is basically Yoshi P talking to the player through Zenos. It was meant as a cheeky nod from Yoshi P and the devs but also to tie up the only loose end left in that story.
I highly recommend rewatching that scene and thinking about it in those terms and then see what happens if you choose "That I can't deny."
Whoever that guy is who is talking was WAY too loud. This is your channel Kat, all of your sound needs to be the loudest and the focus of the stream. And his keyboard was so loud along with his commentary that I could not finish watching this. I really like supporting my fellow FF fans. But he honestly ruined it
If you look deaper Zenos is actually a really interesting character
the shadowbringers/endwalker story arc is a once in a lifetime experience….I'm glad to have walked unto the end, and watching others do the same never fails to validate that feeling! <3
I like this reaction style better. I like the commentary part after the cutscenes instead of during the cutscenes. Most streamers ruin the moment when they do commentary during the cutscenes.
For me the Zenos fight was such a wholesome ending, but I took so much of the last zone from a very philosophical point of view – almost everything that happened was about Hermes's question and the various answers to it for me.
The scions fought against despair by focusing on that which gave their lives meaning. (and oh how humbling it was to realise that the WoL personally is literally graha's purpose in life.)
Emet gave his answer more literally, and hythlo and Venat gave their answers back in elpis and showed that they held true even now.
And Zenos has given us his answer before, and holds true to it. He lives for the rush, the thrill of the fight, he's a classic adrenaline junkie.
And the very last answer is ours. What is our answer – do we continue to fight because it's right, do we fight because it's necessary, or do we fight because we enjoy it?
But the thing is – It wasn't just the WoL who defeated the endsinger. Zenos played his part too. He showed that the selfish desire for fulfilment can also overcome despair – just as it has done in his own story arc.
So this final fight against zenos is to pit his answer against ours. Is our answer to the question better than his selfish thrill-seeking? Do teamwork and love and hope matter more than just chasing your own selfish wants? And yes. They do. In the end, we live because of our bonds with others. Because we bonded even with him, if you believe he sent us home. "While it is true that man succumbs all too often to anger and avarice, he may yet overcome his baser instincts through the forming of bonds with others."
Zenos, being the final duty is a love letter to the player. I get why you think he should be a side-quest, but to me, it was perfect that it seems the devs are talking to the player who has stuck with them in the past near decade through Zenos.
"You're not dying, you're just low health!" As a WHM main, I feel that. At some point, you're gonna take an AoE while spamming Holy, but as long as you don't take MORE damage, you're fine!
Maybe it's my data center, but I only see healers neglect Esuna when they're low level (probably because they don't know how to tell what it works on).
I love Zenos. He unlocked character trait "compasion". Yes, his first words in Ultima was how happy he is to see you, but then he gives you support "surely she is no match for you", he came to help. and in the end he offers to share his joy, not demands to satisfy his needs. Though I happily picked the first answer, I wish devs would acutally give us an option just to leave. It would be fitting end for Zenos character arc, even more cruel than death. But I guess Ardbert inside our WoL just wanted to fight.
bad choice
I always feel so conflicted when it comes to Emet. Yes, he is a damn cool character, extremely well written and I like him. But on the other hand, he is a mass murderer, responsible for the death of billions and billions of people…. 😅
Damn, the Zenos part was like my favorite part about the ending, i only wished we could take him with us, i really loved Zenos. I couldn't stop smiling from start to finish when he appeared and when the main Endwalker theme started i was hyped beyond belief.
You are 100% right, Zenos being "The final boss" ruins the ending, but not only that, Zenos as a whole made every single piece of content he was in, all the worse.
And all because of a simple reason, because he was introduced way too late into the story, and the game tries to force a relationship that just is not there.
Imagine for a second, how much better would have been the game, with just one small change, that the role of Zenos was instead taken over by Gaius Van Baelsar.
We meet him in ARR, where we destroyed his conquest, his hidden weapon and his beliefs, everything he had, he lost to the WOL.
Then in Stormblood, he would come back, thirsty for revenge and having those pseudo-echo experiments done to him as a means to match our power.
He would have a much better motive to hunt the WOL down, and the player would have enjoyed his return, and him being our rival, even one that initally overpowers us.
The game would continue as normal, with someone else taking the role of shadowhunter, and heck, even Fandaniel approaching him would make more sense as he had already dealt with Lahabrea and he would be used to and comfortable with the idea of mutually using an Ascian in order to further his ridiculous need for revenge.
Endwalker could then proceed as usual, and him being the final boss would make a lot more sense, with him being the very first villain we defeated in ARR and him being the ending of that Saga as well, and finally putting him down for good.
Instead, we got Stormblood´s MSQ writer´s OC insert and pet project forced into the story until the very end in Zenos.
iM pretty sure if you felt no emotion all your life and when you finally experience happiness you would try to do whatever to feel it again. Zenos was experimented on and he waited all his life for someone to give him a challenge and that's when you came along. And he did change because he actually thought about what alisaie said about him being alone and not given the time of day that's why he went to krile and went to help you when you needed it cause for sure without him the endsinger wouldn't have been beaten as easily as it was given giant wings and all. He's basically the in game representation of the type of player who skips all story and only cares for the fights. He is a better character then alot of people give him credit for.
Being sucked in by the fantastic story writing, character work, gameplay and subline music.. it's hard not to feel emotional at the end of 6.0 🙂
Zenos is both a darker mirror of the warrior of light as an adventurer and he is a toxic version of a player.
– He only cares for the thrill of the fight, not for any companions. Anyone around him is just a tool for his pleasure. There is no consent to it and it has to be HIS kind of fun.
– The player and the adventurer that they play want the thrill of a challenge BUT they made connections on that way while Zenos initially DID have a bond, his bond betrayed him and that betrayal turned him toxic and only seeing fulfillment in his selfish pleasure.
He was in deep despair and overcame it with his obsession.
Endwalker is all about despair of different kinds, thats what the other worlds struggled with.
Zenos is a workaholic and he is lonely. He is like Aizen from Bleach or Saitama from One Punch Man. So SHOCKLINGLY alone, having noone to understand them and thus they only flee into their hobby/pleasure.
During Stormbringer, he calls you his friend, because he sees a similar spirit in you,. In Endwalker, he yet again tried to FORCE the WoL into giving him his pleasure, but he was ignored for the greater threat. Thats when Alise called him out in Garlemand: You will never get what you want, if you act like this.
This caused his change. He struck a bargain with Krile to aid you, for that he was given the power to reach you. Then he helps you against the endbringer and then DOES NOT FORCE HIMSELF ON YOU, but instead, asks for your consent. He stopped being toxic. But you as a player have 2 options: End him for what he did or to accept him and that side of yourself as well (which is the "that I cannot deny" answer, which I consider canon)
He is a toxic player that stopped being selfish for the purpose of the outcome and finally reaches out, aids another to find an equal to endulge him.
The fact that Close In The Distance isn't fully complete until after G'raha's sacrifice… that the lyrics don't start until he fades… It makes it feel like he's the one singing the words to us, doesn't it?
Im finding alot that more guys LOVE Zenos than girls. I have no idea why? Maybe because guys vibe with Zenos more. They both share the "LETS FUCKING DO THIS SHIT" vibe xD
To sum it up, i see alot more guys vibe with "THE THRILL OF THE HUNT" while girls mostly just dont.
Who ever was typing in the Endsinger cutscene has the loudest keyboard ever
With regards to Zenos, I think Cloud says it best "I pity you, you just don't get it at all"
is this jaicy choi?
I agree i hate Zenos😂 it's funny Blu was arguing with you about it lol xD
To be fair, quite a few people are so blinded by their hate of Zenos they don't get what the character is supposed to represent. Others in these comments have mentioned how his final speeches are the devs breaking the 4th wall; and calling you out on your own hypocricy. Sure, you're roleplaying the hero, but deep down most all of us are chasing fun and engaging challenging content. Especially if you're a raider. Zenos is similar in that regard, and the refusal to recognize that similarity as the player and look down upon him is the height of hypocricy.
Zenos is a foil to the player. While we share that similarity, that's where it ends. Zenos can't understand others. He's solo, he cares nothing for developing relationships, camraderie, etc. Unlike the player, who hopefully "forms bonds with others," in the process of playing the game, he is alone. He is our mirror, and a victim of his circumstances/backstory. He is a sad character, and a sociopath, made so by his father, his backstory, and fundamentally the developers. He is an example of what happens when you don't form those bonds with others, make friends, and build relationships when playing games. All you have at that point is the thrill, and it is empty, and hollow, and in the end once it's all said and done… you don't find fulfilment. Zenos asks us that question, because he didn't. We, hopefully, did.
A good example of a Zenos like person is the streamer Quin69. He played largely solo, didn't give a shit about the story, making friends, anything. He boosted a character, and only cared/cares about chasing power and the good feeling that comes from doing hard content. He skipped the story (and still said it was shit), skips dialogue, skips cutscenes. Quin69 didn't find fulfillment from Final Fantasy 14. Thankfully, we did.
That, is the lesson of Zenos.
I was wondering why there was so many dislikes on this.. then I got to the zenos part at 6:56:25 and heard her opinion and understood everything ^^;
