3 Hours of Daily Dummy Training To "Get Gud" in FFXIV? – Reaction to Lynx Kameli

Definitely a classic of Lynx and a well spoken video.
There might be a taste of elitism in it, but other than that he spits some serious facts, what do you think?
Also Make sure to leave Lynx a Sub, for the case he will come back to FFXIV:

  1. I'm so agree with this so many times I'm looking on some players who are not doing there rotation esspecially when it comes to alliance raid I feel like we are talking too long to kill the boss .. and this is normally because of not enough practice in rotation . I'm in a point now that I don't even you look at my UI now I just focus in the mech and it works perfectly ! It's so ashamed he had to leave his tips are very good

  2. I actually did this during Eden when I switched to sam and it helped out quite a bit, even my group noticed the difference. Now before raids I'm usually seen at a dummy to warm up. I'll have to go through this for sam yet again as I still enjoy it but haven't touched much this expansion.

  3. I think he falls into the category of tryhard, but if that's the style of play that makes him feel the accomplishment he's looking for, then he can play how he wants. For my part, I actually had the conversation the other night regarding "optimal rotation" and my stance is that there is zero chance that I would ever consider for a moment using a potion in my rotation which many people won't do without.

My goal is to be "good enough" and obsessing over "optimal" turns things into a second job and, for me, it stops being fun. While, sure, an additional drip of dps would, theoretically end a fight (technically) sooner but there is no circumstance where if the raid doesn't have the "best" rotation including potions in their opener where that is the difference between winning and losing. If there is, that's a design problem, not a player problem. Yes, he mentioned "multiple Alexander raids where they wiped with the boss at 1%. Yes, tryharding it COULD make the difference but so could a DPS not standing in the poo, dying, and dealing lower damage for 60 seconds after a rez.

Though people should absolutely have the option to do that and to pursue that playstyle. They should also have the ability to make content in this style without weird people that base their own self worth on a content creator confirming their biases attacking them simply because they disagree. At the end of the day, you can't say that his way doesn't get him results, even if it's not the same road you take to the destination.

  4. 1000% agree. But it's not enough to just hit the dummy. Like Lynx said you need to simulate the fight on a dummy and actually practice full rotations, phase changes and reopeners + pot windows.

  5. When I first started playing XIV and learning to tank savage, man, Lynx was my main go to. So what if he is 'elitist', he's right and has some really good points. You don't need to go to his extremes to improve, creating a habit first and improve after. When I'm learning a class for the first time, like ninja, I think I spent a good 8-10 hours just researching resources and practicing on a dummy before I hopped into any party based content; it's made me quite good at ninja even though I main tank/healers.

  6. It’s good optimization advice, but it’s not especially practical outside of maybe Ultimates. Just from my experience off doing Savages blind with a static, mechanics are a much, much bigger deal than rotation optimizing. Just looking at an image of what your opener is and pressing buttons as soon as they come off cooldown (or get close to max charges) almost inherently keeps you on track well enough that clearing’s not much of an issue.

  7. I think the reason he got so much heat was bc he'd randomly throw in shit to his videos like how in this one he just threw out there that you're a lazy slacker. I feel like he was at times hostile towards casuals lol, but that's just the vibe i got. I do think most of his content is beneficial though

  8. 4:00 I think you should use the dummy until you have a good sense of where all your buttons are, understand how they work and when to press them, doing his 6 hours on a training dummy is kinda silly and severely lacks the reactive part of battles. So if you really want to practice your rotation, sure start on the dummy, then start doing max level content like dungeons & trials, then progress to content with more stuff happening until you reach the harder content, in my honest opinion you get better practice out of doing a normal raid then you do out of 3 times the amount of time on a dummy.
11:00 I'm still kinda nope on that idea, sure If I wanted to test an experimental rotation then your back to argument one, but otherwise I prefer practicing a fight in the fight and not outside.

  9. i wanna do harder content but I dont want to have to spend 3 hours a day practicing a rotation… that is literally the reason i left ESO was because everytime i would get good parses they would change something and i would have to relearn a new parse….. its a waste of time

  10. I think the elitist vs casual tribalism is getting out of hand. I was in Agalia and one of the tanks kept taking aggro and moving the boss making positionals impossible. I asked "Hey is it possible to keep the boss still I only have 2 stacks of true north" and I guess I could have been a bit nicer I was mildly annoyed. He was not happy about that and replied "are you seriously parsing an alliance raid". Is landing positionals considered tryhard now?

  11. He isn't any tougher on players than Xenosys, and I love Xenosys. To be honest every role in this game needs a content creator like these two.

  12. It sucks that lynx stopped making content. Well some of his takes where a little off he gave good advice, and he definitely knew his stuff. I think part of it is he simply burnt himself out. He put so much into such a limited factor in xivs ecosystem as a game that it really was not a surprise.

  13. Hard is as far as I want to go, as combat in FF14 is my least liked feature of the game (and 4 man is my most hated). His advice is great for high end raiding as it is now (but I would love to see more aggressive AI that forces players to continually adapt and think on the fly, forcing greater group/team work where the emphasis is on synergy of the parts and less on dps). At any, I do enjoy your content and.Ashe 10.

  14. If you followed lynx and thought he was gonna be nice , being a hardcore raider , then you were at the wrong place. Wanna have fun and not have your feelz hurt? Stick to savage but when you step into ultimate where you have to dance for 45 minutes and maintain a certain ammount of dps , if you are a casual wich there is nothing wrong about that , you will get called out because you are wasting people time. Progression minded players will not carry you , you will be left behind or adapt.

  15. I didn’t quit because of hate, I quit because of a falling out with my static that had been together for many years and realized they were the reason I was still having fun in FF. Your friends can make or break your experience… I’ve grown a lot as a person and realized the “I’m mr rank 1 listen to me” personality wasn’t who I wanted to be, and I cringe equally as most of you at my old FF videos. I haven’t watched the full video yet so I’ll update this comment if I find anything to respond to, but after 10,000 hours in one game you get burnt out, and with a YouTube channel on top of it I didn’t see myself wanting to go for another 10,000. I still think the game is great but I found myself asking why I was still playing.

  16. I agree in most of the stuff, if you are going in Ultimates you no longer talk about DPS-Rotations, you talk about timing for mitigation and so on. But i dont know if the training dummy is a good idea, cause you dont even move in most cases, just try to perfrom your rotation while moving and praticing little downtimes as melee to cut them off to minimum of GCDs.

Some players just need to play their job long enough to get there, especially in challenging enviroments. Does not counts for everyone, some players never get it so it seems.
