Quazii tries Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) for the first time in 2021 (Episode 29). Is it better than World of Warcraft (WoW)?

3000 IQ Plotline versus my little potato brains. This is some really great storytelling – I am told 3.5 will be good, and I really cannot wait to finish the final stretch of the MSQs for Heavensward.
what i have told others who have come from WoW to XIV is that we are so used to single storylines really being contained in each expansion. Some connect a little but not much. We get an expansion, and each patch is a quarter of the book until the expansion ends.
XIV the entire game is the book, each expansion is equivalent to a quarter of the book (or a patch in wow) and the entire story is being told throughout all of the expansions. its a 10 year single book compared to wows 1 expansion = 1 book.
All I will say is yes Zodark is an entity of Darkness and Hydalin is an entity of Light, several of your questions will be answered later, in future expansions.
I cannot wait for you to get to Shadowbringers, holy damn, i love your theory crafting
Youre really really close to being completely correct XD, there are a few things your missing but youve got enough to be correct
Not Spoiling anything but you plot assumption is pretty good! All will be reveal later, there's a reason why Shadowbringers 5.0 has so much hype for the game anyways looking forward to your adventures.
yes, OUR world of Eorzia and Garlea is the world of the Source, the original world. What our world calls Calamities, are catastrophic events that rejoin a reflection with the source, thereby destroying the reflection world. This means that 7 reflections, through the acts of 7 calamities, have already rejoined the source.
lol. Worst disguise ever with the same Voice Actor.
Quazii: …Who is this Elezen man…
Another thing to keep in mind is that while in FF the "Warrior of Light" is a popular moniker for the heroes, lore-wise throughout the franchise, light is not always a good thing nor is darkness always bad. In FF3 while you are Warriors of Light, in the history of that world Warriors of Darkness once saved that world from destruction. Various heroes through the series have come from "dark" backgrounds or even share origins or other things with the "bad guys" like Celes being on the empires side first, Cloud having Jenova cells in him, Zidane and Vivi sharing origins with the bad guys etc. Thoridan, you could argue, was a primal that had aspects of light. His light after all, did banish an Ascian.

And this just shows how well the storyline and lore has been constructed in FF14 folks. For all those who complain about the story in FF14 just being a meaningless slog you have to suffer through to reach the "real game," here you go.
I think the best part of this video was the end where you were piecing the story together from your perspective. And i don't think anyone should confirm or deny any of the questions you were asking. I think it's best to take all the things you thought about, everything you put together, and hold onto that. The story from here on out will expand in ways that will blow your mind, and based off of what i had seen w/ your thought-process, you will be in for a wild ride! 🙂
anything we say would be spoilers. so…. 🙂
One can not exist without the other and that’s the truth ..
With the amount of information you got right now, you're basically in the same mind place as the community was when 3.4 came out, so yes, your line of thought is mostly correct. Urianger is a true strategist, and he's the central piece that made this whole part of the story work the way it did. The story gets even better than that later, so I'm happy to see you're liking it so much
I would say over all your explanation of what you have seen is correct. Of course playing more of the MSQ will bring the story more into focus. Your video's have been great! Keep up the good work.
The Warriors of Darkness were not born again. They gave their own lives (killed themselves) in order to become spirits tied to crystal just like the Ascians. That you can only travel between worlds when you are shorn of your flesh. They were not reincarnated, but rather were phantoms given power in a similar manner primals are through crystals. You might of missed it, but you were the last element they were missing on the elemental wheel. Without you invoking your crystal they could not hope to complete the ritual to call upon Hydaelyn. You were the missing piece in Urianger's plan.
With the information available to you right now, you've pretty much hit all the nails on the head. I won't say when you're going to revisit this part of the story again but be sure to keep the information jotted down in the back of your head. There's so much good story to go from here and it's only going to get better!
Just a reminder, you can check "The Unending Journey" book in any inn room to re-watch any old cut-scenes for lore you might have missed, or want to see in new context. Some quests also have slightly different text if you've done an optional prerequisite (Such as being a Dragoon in Heavensward MSQ), and you can toggle those options to see the differences between those scenes.
But you've definitely paid attention to the story so far!
I just noticed Urianger used to do Jojo poses back then, I forgot that. It was not a recent thing xD
Watching Quazii try to figure out who the masked man was :eyes:
I love how you went to The Churning Mists to collect your thoughts <3
You got it all down pretty well. Though one point that isn't a spoiler as you have the info now is that each Calamity causes a rejoining of one of the 13 shards. That's the chaos the ascians mean.
You got it mostly right, some details here and there but don't worry, this plot will develop further as the game goes on.
I will say that you are mostly right in your theories. The only parts where you're wrong, it's because you don't have all the information yet. I don't know how specific to be without accidental spoilers, but you do have a very good grasp of the story at this point in the story.
Watching this again, I can't believe I didn't figure out that it was Urianger.
Gotta say, I am always so impressed by how well you keep track of plot details and put things together. You are definitely thinking along the right lines, but as people said, you'll get more information about all this stuff in later expansions! Keep up the theorizing and you're really going to have an amazing time! Gotta say you were tracking things waaaaay better than I was at this point, lol. It's part of what makes you so fun to watch!
=)
I think it has to do with how white ascian is just a diplomat
I wish I would've understood things as well as you are when I was at 3.4
FFXIV would not be FFXIV if things are as simple as you think . 😀
Funny to listen Quazii trying to get pieces together near the end of the video and getting it close to home but the wrong side first
No spoilers but I'm talking about the last bit of the vid so skip over this if you want to be safe.

But the fact that we can't address most of the last 20 minutes of the video without spoiling anything is beyond impressive. I was in awe. Not to say everything was spot on. But some of the theories were moving in the right general direction and it was very cool to listen to.
😂😂😂🙃🙃🙃 <– me everytime you try to figure out the masked man
Edit:
😭😭😭😭 <– also me @ the backstreet boys
