I know regardless of the content of this video players will continue to do these mistakes. But that doesn’t mean i cant educate the community.

Agreed, this is the reason why I have to hold some of my items due to some players undercut way too much.
I always divide the price in half so I can sell stuff fast.
I usually look at history to determine a reasonable price if there are no items showing as competition so to speak, so many over price or under price and I try to stick to the average sale. However one question I get stuck at, is when items are on for say 30k each and they sell and have done consistently at that rate, but then someone puts it on for 10k. Then others follow by lowering it even more. What price should be we place them at? Naturally we want them to sell and the cheap will always sell first. Those who have kept the pricing around average will sit not sold. How do we price those who are stupidly undercut?
I treat the Marketboard the same way I would sell something IRL.
1)Undercut
2) Bathe in the flames and wreckage of the economy
3) Buy expensive shoes
i normally uncut by 100 gil
Undercut by 1 Gil only.
I've been surprised lately with how much I've managed to make purely on selling the junk gear my retainers bring back from quick ventures (if they aren't getting me mats) with the change they made to make what they bring back being better than some useless fish like in the past. I do have quite a list of usual items that I know sell, daily and frequently in reasonable amounts so they are things I tend to stick to for the most part, it's nothing groundbreaking, mainly mats that come from the various currencies we have or easy to gather crap, cos let's face it crafters like myself are lazy so why not make some money off of that laziness, you'd be surprised how reluctant folk are to grind a few easy scrips, with how easy the scrip system has become. At this point I've honestly made enough money that I don't see myself running into financial issues in the game in the foreseeable future. Plus Leve allowances, they're like an infinite gil resource so my reliance on the MB isn't as high as it once was.
And remember the golden rule most other folk are allergic money assume everyone youre selling against is dumb and sometimes you can sometimes invest in items and wait for prices to increase
putting appropriate stack sizes in some cases means you can actually charge more than the 99 stack, people will pay 6000 gil for 5 rather than 99000 for 99
great tips Zane!!
I hate-hate-hate when I buy out and reset the price of an item, and someone undercuts all my hardwork ; – ;
Doing god's work! Thanks for making this Zane
Why are our players so bad at intelligenly using the marketboard? The rampant over saturation and aggressive undercutting is triggering…
Thanks for your tips very helpful! Lol, i'm guilty myself from undercutting once again thank you !
I tend not to even undercut and just put the latest price on the item. It still sells pretty good.
I love the angry energy of this. I usually check the history and will post for close to the highest price shown.
I'm definitely guilty of hugging the MB haha. Made my first 10mil that way but it wasn't sustainable and burnt me out for a bit so that's a cost I learned to factor in now. I do have an unrelated question. What do you do if you put up some items and you've been undercut for months? Is there ever a time to cut and run? Like undercut for a net zero gain to make space for another more reliably selling item?
I disagree with not undercutting by more than 1 Gil. If you undercut by much and the items do not sell, they would not have sold at a lower undercut either. You should look at it in a way you look at normal markets too. Supply and demand regulate the price by themselves.
Regarding the stack size, that was a useful tip! Thanks for that
I kinda hate how they just started including some glams / primal weapons as random loot drops from Bozja/Potd boxes. Heck even some of the rare Submarine minions. The prices especially on Chaos DC have plummeted into ground xD
Good video tho ^ ^ Looking forward to more stuff as we head into EW.
Sometimes I sell items in multiples of what is needed for the recipe. Like in the example you provided, you need 4 of the Titancopper ore for one Titanbronze ingot. So I sell them in packs of 96 which is a multiple of 4 instead of 99. Because if you have 99 of them and you just want to quick synthesis them, you'll have 3 left over and that's useless.
I like 000 so just no. How about stop under cutting all together. More over don't over charge. Look at the history and sell for something that it will sell for.
I can feel his anger, he probably just noticed a few things that day and said " k, thats it. "
I honestly think they should add a new feature for the market, you can't put on the board the same item you're already trying to sell. Maybe 2 max, but no more than that.
I undercut by higher prices on items I know are selling for cheaper on other servers… if a price is too high people will just look at other server prices; it's what I do. I'll try to sell at the higher price but if is just sitting there for 3 days and I have to keep updating the price for 1 gil undercutters I get annoyed and just slash the price.
I mean this stuff I'm selling costs like under 5k gil in materials anyway, 50k+ gil is kinda absurd for the 20 seconds it takes to craft.
I was part of the problem when I only played a battle class. Now that I’m an ominicrafter and gatherer, I’ve learned to be way more savvy on the MB. I’ve earned millions this year by selling appropriately. Although sometimes I find undercutting by 5 Gil on certain items helps me sell more on my server. I usually stick to 1 Gil. Btw, totally agree about walking away the MB. I put up some stuff and came back like 2 days later and found almost everything sold. Other people undercut me in the Sales History but since mine rose up to the top, they sold anyway. People need to stop hugging the MB.
