  1. Welcome to Eorzea!!! Looks like you're off to a good start! Also, you do not have to rush through MSQ in time for Dawntrail. In point of fact, it's probably better for you to still be finishing up Endwalker when Dawntrail hits because you want to be a little late to completing the story. People are fairly hardcore in FFXIV with regards to Spoilers because this is such a story-driven game. If you're running slightly behind the player base in completing MSQ then you'll have more people interested in watching you seeing things for the first time since they will have already seen them and it's a way of vicariously experiencing the story again for the first time.

That said, it's your playthrough. Go as fast or as slow as you feel is appropriate.

  2. Take your time. The story is good. It’s a bit of slog till level 35-40 but after it is really good. And I mean it, it’s a 10000x better than any WoW story. Plus there is really a lot of stuff.

  3. Welcome aboard. Nice to see a fresh experience to ffxiv. Square Enix has gone through a lot to make sure that the first dungeons are being improved as well, and you can also play entirely solo with dungeon NPC's as well. Either way you choose to play, enjoy your journey 🙂🤟

  4. Glad to see you had a good time. The brisk walk will be a long one, but there is lots of stuff to see along the way and plenty of time to get there before next summer.

  5. try to enjoy and dont watch too much other vids because you really dont want to get spoiled! and i really mean you dont want to get spoiled because arr is good but its almost everything around build-up, but daaaaaaang heavensward is such and emotional- and storytelling- and because-of-the-storytelling- wreckingball-ish-rollercoaster, you dont want to miss every moment of experience! hope you enjoy it!

  6. 1 fun fact
Neltharion, later known as Deathwing the Destroyer, has a wingspan of 365 meters, 730 meters in total
Bahamut has a wingspan of 6 kilometers and 439'2 meters, 12'88 kilometers rounded up.
Neltharion has the size of a half grown kitten when compared to FFXIV Bahamut

  7. I saw a comment in the video asking if this was the event taking you from FFXI to FFXIV. The simplified answer is it shows the transition from FFXIV to FFXIV A Realm Reborn.

  8. Love the YouTube content! You're doing great and editing is fantastic!
No shot you'll change your WoL after going through all of ARR. You'll fall in love with your current version 100% ❤
Preach said some similar shit and look at his Floor Inspector, it's still hideous AF lol

  9. 12:48 so unless im misunderstanding what youve just said, i think youve misunderstood something here, ARR (2.0) isnt a rewrite of 1.0, 1.0 was such a massive failure that they wrote it into a playable apocalypse with the Bahamut/Dalamud calamity and then shut the servers down, spent two years basically making a whole new game in that world 5 in game years later and then released that as ARR, alongside special cutscenes for people who had legacy characters, that makes them the same WoL transported to the future like you see in the trailer, they didnt get the boat scene into limsa, they got beamed in like the trailer and walked into town, plus theres another scene towards the end of ARR thats also different for them, where the memory magic making everyone for the WoL gets lifted for Legacy characters so everyone remembers that theyre the same hero who have then saved Eorzea a 2nd time now. Theres subtle implications that makes people believe that the memory magic is affecting us too the whole time and everyone is actually 1.0 WoL but only people with legacy characters get the veil lifted, but to my knowledge that much isnt confirmed.

  10. In 2019, I quit playing WoW in March. In July, I made a catgirl Arcanist – I was doing dailies while watching your video.

Just one point about the Light vs. Dark thing – like everything else in the MSQ, it becomes more nuanced over time.

  11. If you are looking for a DoT management class, Archer/Bard will eventually have 2 DoT that you will have to keep up with. Once you get the ability to leave your starting area and go to the other starting cities you will be able to pick up more classes/jobs if you want to go that direction.

  12. Oh you plan on doing the optional content at the end of each expansions yes the important unlockable content is marked as Blue Quests like the job quests, Raids, Dungeons and other unlockable features and content.

  13. Ah, this feels so nostalgic. MSQ being about menial errands (which is definitely something you will never do at higher level, ever), Arcanist job quest being the sleeper hit of ARR (btw, remember to do those quests as soon as they unlock, job abilities are locked behind quest completion), Cat Mommy looking at you with her big, colorful eyes…
As a creepy old man once said to a child: "we will watch your career with great interest".

  14. Welcome to Eorzea! It's a lovely place to be.

Make sure to do the Novice training missions at level 15 to get your 30% xp boost ring. It's definitely helpful when leveling your first job, but especially when you're leveling your second job. It's a real time-saver.

  15. One thing I like about FF14's early-to-mid-game progression that a lot of other mmos fail at is you don't start as a level 1 Super Divine Asskicker; you're just an adventurer working their way through the ranks. You'll get there eventually to the point you have to turn off other player's spell animations in battle just to be able to see, but for now you've gotta earn that prestige class.

  16. "It wasn't doing very well" is… an understatement. It was an unmitigated disaster. 1.0 existed for just over 2 years before they closed the servers to prepare for the launch of ARR. People probably will or already have recommended it, but if you're interested in the irl backstory, the NoClip documentary (in 3 parts) is what we usually suggest because they did a very good job of explaining it, even getting interviews with key members of the production team including YoshiP himself, Christopher Koji Fox who was the EN localization lead at the time (he got a promotion to localization supervisor recently), and Masayoshi Soken who has scored most of the game.

YoshiP is just "Producer Yoshida". Yoshida = Yoshi. Producer = P. Because he's the director and producer of the game.
