  1. It's a bummer to see how mixed Dawntrail's msq reception has been. While it isn't even close to my fav msq (this game peaked at 5.3, no one can change my mind), I still had fun times going around the zones and meeting different cultures. And as someone who watched a lot of shounen anime growing up, Wuk Lamat doesn't really bug me either. She had cringe moments for sure, but I dunno I thought she was cute being the way she is, I honestly didn't mind her as much as Lyse back in Stormblood, even tho in the end of the day I'd say I still like Lyse more. I remember Yoshi-P mentioned he wanted to move away from dark fantasy for the time, so I think we're just seeing the writers trying to change tone for this expansion to something more light-hearted, even with the later half of the msq being more serious. Regardless of what I think, everyone is free to have their opinions on the game, so don't feel like you need to hide your dislike of anything just to please anyone, be genuine on your thoughts.

  3. I think your reactions are completely hilarious and relatable, honestly. You can love a thing and still critique it, and DT really deserves all its criticisms about the MSQ.

Also 1 hour 45 minutes to 1 hour 50 min ish is animatic worthy I was dying. Just like imagine the most tired wol dragged out of their bed to be told once again that wuk loves peace.

  4. I think the issue with Dawntrail's story, having beaten it, is the WoL isn't the main character in this story and that we have to analyze everything from an outsider's pov. Good storylines, Heavensward, Shadowbringers, etc.. were good because we were the main characters instead of the scions or some random person they introduced six months ago.

  5. I wanted Zepla to be honest with her take on this Dawntrail effort from Square and I am so glad to see this.

The devs actually listen to her and her opinion carries a lot of weight. If Zepla, the eternal optimist can be driven to these depths by this substandard story effort then maybe Square will finally see that they can’t merely just slop whatever they feel like on our plate and have us gobble it up

There needs to be an apology followed by a promise to completely shift direction from 7.0. Here is your wake up call, Square. Listen to the players

  6. Also, barely anyone even knew the VA for Wuk was trans until the games journos brigaded the fans who complained about her performance.

People need to stop blaming legit criticism of a poor performance on some nebulous buzzword concept.

I never even gave that a second thought but thought that performance was just below average compared to other voiced characters. My ears told me

  7. You have nothing to apologize for. I am happy for people who enjoyed the expansion, but I agree that the writing this time around has been simply awful. There were days where I could only handle playing it for an hour or so and got so bored or annoyed that I had to stop. Yes, we should not become hateful, but the dev team is not going to produce a better experience if we don't make it clear to them just how disappointed we are with Dawntrail.

  8. Interesting, how different Preach and Zepla reaction to MSQ. Not sure what Zepla expected from this MSQ to be so frustrated. For me first half was boring, but maybe because i don't have obligation to read every dialogue from all villagers, like streams do, maybe that's why i didn't have bad time following Wuk Lamat.
Writers failed for sure the first half of the MSQ, but the second half was ok with all tension and mystery. It's like two different teams wrote first and second half.

  9. I think part of the thing people don't understand and that they failed to bring up until after this… is Wuk is like 16-18 years of age. As she is younger than 20 and I think people just keep thinking she is 25 or 30 and has experienced a lot. People forget how much they don't know about the world when they are 16-18.

  10. I start to skipp all the MSQ cutscenes some where around the 3rd zone, and continue doing that until the end of the story (did some cutscenes at the last zone purely just because of its zone's visuals). I watched all the movies in the journal later on sometimes while eating dinner for a couple days. I found it very enjoyable. This is my first expansion to do this and might do this again in 8.0 because I found it very enjoyable and entertaining for me. I think the story is fine?, it might be because I watched with my brain turned off or I am just stupid. It's alright Zepla, I think most of your viewers want to know your thoughts about the story more than some weird people who want you to react the same way they did. It's a piece of media, so please be criticized.

  11. Some ppl love doomer shit a bit too often, crazy how many ppl are upset because the 1st half is much more light hearted meeting new characters and taking a backseat mentor role for once

  12. Koana's VA is absolutely fantastic to me. The way Zepla feels about Erenville's voice is the way I feel every time Green'ha Tia opens his mouth. So smoooooth. I haven't felt that was about a VA since Aymeric.

  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is really struggling to tolerate-let alone enjoy- the msq. I'm only at level 96 so far because I have to keep stepping away to take breaks. Rewatching these scenes with your playthrough I'm seeing even more flaws that I originally tolerated because I was hyped to explore a new expansion. The zones are gorgeous, the music is wonderful, and the combat is lots of fun. But the writing is just awful, with some ok moments sprinkled in.. It's important that we can leave feedback so the team listens to us.

  14. While at first, I thought some of the criticism was a bit much, there are definitely parts of this story that feel like they were written in crayon for a five year old and I'm starting to struggle with my normal optimism and patience as well.

  15. TBH everyone is whining about the msq too much. Sure it started slow but overall I really enjoyed it. We knew going in the WOL wasn't the main focus, we knew it was the start of something new where building blocks and character archs had to be made. You CANNOT compare this to SHB or EW MSQ that has YEARS of lore and character development leading into them. I thought after the rite of succession was complete the story was amazing, before that I can understand the opinion of it being slow and a little shallow, but that's a far cry from what most people are saying

  16. This is… yeah… it's a really, really painful expansion. I think they want to say something specific, but they are cooking just to make time because we can't have the TRUE MSQ having only one REAL good hour. So they keep cooking and cooking and cooking and… well, I am watching because I don't mind spoilers, but I am glad you are doing this because I won't feel pressured to buy the expansion because I might be loosing good stuff.

And if the time, the really good time comes, I can just skip all the cutscenes I watched through your stream.

The problem is not that it's a "vacation" expansion, is that it's a "follow the (childish) leader expansion" and help her grow. We're not on vacation we are on, as Erenville said at the begining "babysitting chore", with the worst possible child we could find and we thought "hey, the money is worth it in the end". But it's not.

I really hope things pick up their pace soon, especially after I read a really good analysis of the expansion and I am still trying to see what the person who wrote it saw, because I see nothing like that now.
