  1. If the devs ever decide to update their PS3 era graphics and drab colour palette then I'll stop using 3rd party tools, Currently using the AI upscaled textures for environment, Weapons, Armour, NPC's etc…. as it is sorely needed, A lot of the textures look like the devs finished them in MS Paint.

  2. I wonder why they wouldn't instead ban the use of third party tools/software for specific uses rather than the tools themselves. Since there are so many of them, why dont they just clearly specify what would be allowed vs what's not allowed?

Something like gshade (which I dislike but I know lots of people prefer it) seems like a painless 3rd party tool to enhance graphics and help with gpose, but there are things that will auto place your auctions on the market board automatically to 1g below the next cheapest market value just by talking to your retainer and loading the information.

Granted, I understand giving statements on what is allowed may have repercussions in folks finding loopholes in the wordings.. but I can't imagine it would be that bad

  3. Can comfirm that alot of streamers that used ACT for clearing dungeons, ultimate's have either been suspended or warned, They are really cutting down on it

  4. good luck, with trying to ban addons then. if you look at all sort of Vids form streamers and even content creators. if you see a Image in the background like the ff logo chances are that is the dps meter. they might as well ban the whole game at that point. since a lot of people use it for personal matters.

Yoshi p stance on addons is getting more and more tyrannical. saying pretty much dont you even dare or we will catch you. visual addons might as well get you banned as well. since they are not willing to say what is ok and what is not. leaving it wihtout any fine line can be abused by the Dev team itself and the Game masters. look at Zenos who got banned long time back out of nowhere and given no reason for why.

addons are never going to get banned outright since they say they care but they dont they get your $13/$16 a month. yes some might care but Enix as a whole doesnt as much.

now on the topic of people not able to emulate the servers. >.> someone should tell them that wow as that problem. also look at ff11 private servers so yeah enough said.

overall this is a nothing blog post. yes he happy to see the game grow but is not willing to handle the pain of that growth. since the Non-action of not trying to find the solution. oh yeah all of these probelms see you in 4 months to just dump out the same stuff for less.

  5. Why laugh at it? I think it's very serious and I appreciate the steps he's taking. I HATE third party mods in FFXIV. Even a DPS meter, it doesn't matter if someone using one griefs a group member or not, is an unfair advantage over other players. You and I and probably many of your fans will disagree about this, but that doesn't matter… what matters is YoshiP's thoughts on it.

  6. I use third party plugins for things like, adding zone loading screens, putting character job icons next to their names, etc. Things the HUD doesn't offer out of the box. One that I use let's me check the market board from anywhere which saves me the trouble of googling info that is online anyway.

  7. The grey area does not lie in what is technically allowed, it’s what they decide to punish and enforce. The idea that yoshi and the team “needs” to provide clarification is like asking an officer at what point they’re going to start investigating me if I go on some kind of crime spree

  8. her last 4 videos were negative content about the game i know where this one is going…. but i don't know if she knows but the devs are banning content creators for UI addons

  9. My only issue with a ban about third party software is, what is third party software in the eyes of the beholder? There have been cases in the past of people using something like teamspeak or even skype (old cases long ago) and people got randomly banned for it in other games. I always feel that this specific treatment never ends very well, especially when there is a bot being used to detect an account that would then use third party software.

  10. IMHO it'd be best to give the individual the option to see their place in the DPS meter (1,2,3, ect.) without disclosing any other numbers. Don't show the other player's placement. Just show a simple DPS 2, Healing 4 under your name and leave it at that. Then you give the individual the knowledge of an approximate job well done, or needs improvement, without giving anyone else ample ammo to shame.

  11. What he means by “extra information” is DPS meters that show you how others are performing, plug-ins like DBM and cactbot which warn you of X ability going off in Y time on Z boss several seconds before the boss starts even casting that ability, showing timers for things you wouldn’t normally see like buffs/debuffs on other players. Bottom line, what he’s saying

To say things like “why don’t you sponsor” and “why don’t you just allow people to use 3rd party tools”….well, here’s the thing. This is not an American company. This company is based in Japan, and both of those statements would require them to break laws in Japan to do them. I’m sorry you’re feeling depressed or whatever that you can’t make this game easy mode to the point you don’t have to pay attention or try, but these sorts of letters should not be necessary because most of the player base is adults and we all learned how to follow the rules in kindergarten

  12. It's rough I have one eye, and poor vision in the other and can only really focus on one part of the screen. I get a lot of help from the addon's to move information front and center to where I can see things. The voice does help with some situations where I don't see the text updating to tell me what subtly different thing is going on. Like the wheel turning right or left in that one raid. Also I should note I don't do the ultimate raids because I think they'd just be frustrating since I can't see all the cues.

  13. Good! I hope they DO crack down on this, I get so sick of being in raids and some one pops off, "Healer you are over healing by 19%, do more dps." or "Bard your dps is way lower than the DNC's, you need to learn your rotation." HOW WOULD YOU KNOW THAT UNLESS YOURE USING A PLUG IN! Stop doing this! You are creating the problem. 1/2 of these people will report you the other half will go DL a MOD in order to try to live up to your standards. ALL of the time this stuff ruins the game. We are all playing to have fun, some of us want to be in the top, some of us want to ENJOY the game, in both situations no one NEEDS a MOD.

  14. "We've only released duties that we have proven can be beaten with the game's standard features"

Surely they didn't tested with high pings (around 200ms). The only plugin I care for is the one that allows me to AT LEAST double weave.
Even using this plugin I'm still in disavantage due the horrible server distribution around the world.

  15. As someone who came to FFXIV from TERA, I have seen the amount of damage a third party program can cause.

TERAPROXY was originally used to allow people with high ping to play in a 0 ping enviroment, giving them the ability to essentially play the game as its meant to be played but as time went on more and more "functions" and "add-ons" were added to TERAPROXY ranging from enrage callouts, making mechanics visible that otherwise would not show a indicator, auto pot and buff use to the first nail in TERA's coffin – Memeslash, a straight up hack that allowed your skills to deal damage in every frame of the attack and simultanously attack all enemies on the screen allowing singular players to clear 30 man raids that take hours to complete within minutes or to instantly destroying a entire opposing PVP raid.

  16. zep, one major problem with them sponsoring the world race, it will mean the game starts taking a competitive focus going forward which will then start taking a path that WoW took

  17. When raiding last year people would all was do dps checks and put up links in chat so people could could look at there dps, I was wondering how the hell they got that info I play ps5 so I don't think we can use mods.

  18. The functionality of these addons should be incorporated into the FF14 game. The FF14 Devs should just buy the rights to these mods and include them in the game. Players could select them from the Content Menu OR buy them from the Game Store.

FF14 Devs should BAN ANY 3rd Party addons……Also, any addon enhancements used should be listed on the player profile……..Those enjoying enhanced abilities should be called out on it when they are bragging about their superior skills

  19. Personaly, Addons that gives an advantages against other players, whenever its PVE or PVP it should defensively be not allowed.
Addons that gives a personal visual enhancements could be okay – this very depends on wat it does, if it makes things bit more pretty to make awesome photos – that should be fine but if it removes textures, too see trough walls or gives that advantage of see much father away etc than you should be allowed too it prob should not be allowed.
And addon dps meters or those parse addons can just burn in hell lol, the meta slave and parsing in wow is just pure BS.

I hope for the matter for world of warcraft the restriction for addons becomes a thing in nearest future.

  20. I believe the most important aspect of this "grey-area of Third Party Tools usage" is more about what they consider priority to be a violation worthy to be investigated in the first place. That's why the HUD section has an asterisk after the sentence: as much as there's people who use modifications to allow information that is not supposed to be displayed, the devs also know that most of the playerbase use HUD modifications just for Quality of Life purposes — hence they are determined to make those changes happen, so we don't rely on said tools anymore. Mrhappy also mentioned about HUD enhancements for colorblind people and for that reason, I don't see why they could even ban people for this. The big question about such a discussion is: what information IS and what IS NOT meant to be displayed to a player — and why this individual would be compelled to reach a Third Party Tool to do so, to determine if this affects the overall structure of the game, the server side and cheating. Moreover, although they vehemently express that Third Party Tools are not allowed — for being unable to categorize and list all of the available tools and set a YES or NO parameter, I doubt they would ever ban people for using Gshade or Gpose tools. But that is just my take on this case.
