Final Fantasy XIV’s story is heading to the World of Darkness. Who is this mysterious figure we see in the final cutscene of 6.1 Newfound Adventure? Why is Zenos’ voidsent avatar so important? Let’s explain and speculate.

I love your videos so much. <3 Fastest click of my life.
Are the voidsent a matriarchy? Cuz all throughout the game when we're dealing with named voidsent who are considered leaders among the voidsent they all just so happen to be female. Scathach, Cloud of Darkness and Lilith. With voidsent like Diabolos and Ferdiadi being lieutenants and right-hand men but not leaders in their own right
crazy ideal but the voidsent avatar is the soul of azem from the 13th
Good video. Want to point out that the void quests pretty much confirm that Unukulhai is a shard of Nyelbert. Taynor alludes to it pretty heavily during the Void quests and comments on how Unuk’s soul is strikingly reminiscent of Nyelbert’s.
I just hope Zenos stay dead. I hate his character and personality
It pisses me off that will never see the entirety of the first brood considering three of them are already dead and we as the WoL are responsible for the third death.
As far as Bahamut and Ratatoskr go the only thing we'll ever know is that they were both kind and caring. To traits you can easily attribute to all 7 Great Wyrms.
If Azdaja is Golbez's iconic shadow dragon, there will be Hell to pay Yoshi-P
Maybe it's Purple Guy from FNAF… 🤔
If golbez showed up, i cant help but wonder if Cecil will too. Its a bit of a stretch, but i almost wonder if a corrupted Cecil is the avatar. Guess we'll just have to wait and see
Duuude thank you I have so many questions now. Main one being who tf is the avatar, but also why did Zenos quit the samurai path for reaper? Hmmmmmmmmmm…
Thanks a bunch for this video
My bet is the Avatar's gonna turn out to be the XIV version of Zemus somehow, considering its baldness, being dressed in a cloak, its unnatural skin tone and how it starts getting actual character traits at about the same time the guy-possibly-named-Golbez-but-otherwise-is-just-Golbez is introduced. Still very possible for it to also be one of the 13th's WoLs (or even going along with a theory it might be an Azem shard mentioned elsewhere in these comments), the theories don't have to be mutually exclusive! But I also could be dead wrong, who knows.
I'd like to toss another theory into the pot: What if Zenos' avatar is NONE of those things and instead it is a shard of Zenos himself? Because remember, practically all 'human' lives on the Source carry the fragmented soul potential of an Ancient of the past. If the Avatar is the 13th's Ardbert to Zenos' version of our WoL, perhaps they had a reversed version of the merge the WoL had before their confrontation with Hades as Zenos died there at Ultima Thule. Thus, both statements can be true. Zenos died but his story continues as a part of his voidsent soul fragment. And this merge could have profound influence. If true, this voidsent has had a rejoining with a part of himself that was already 7 times rejoined. It got an eightfold soul boost in one go. That has got to change your outlook on life for better or worse. Perhaps Zenos' stronger soul and personality is overtaking whatever the voidsent once was, making it into a mirror of Zenos to some degree while retaining enough difference to be someone else. In that way, something that is both Zenos and isn't Zenos at the same time can exist.
I’m a big Zenos fan but even I don’t think he should come back, but I do agree that his story isn’t over. As for his avatar, I believe it’s very possible that it’s the 13th version of us
I expect either the avatar or totally-not-golbez-it’s-absolutely-FFXIV-golbez to be our thirteenth shard
Avatar: the devs specifically said they can’t talk about the avatar yet, but that Zenos’ obsession with us might’ve influenced his choice of voidsent in becoming a reaper somehow, and considering what we know of the fallen WoLs of the Thirteenth, and that we’re 1 for 1 on shard WoLs being our shards (excluding unukalhai and cylva), maybe just maybe
Golbez: for this we’d have to delve into just how much they pull from FF4 to explain his presence, given the whole deal with Cecil going DRK to PLD in relation to the WoL/derp lander and Cecil’s relation in turn to golbez through FF4. Are we the Cecil stand-in, or is golbez gonna pull a Darth Vader on varshahn when the shadow dragon gets pulled out and is azdaja? Who knows as of yet
I rly hope Zenos comes back…he should be our Vegeta
Since we are being influenced by FF IV, could Zemos be involved. I am sure that a corruption of the name into Zenos isn't a mere coincidence.
I think the void sent avatar being a piece of the same soul WoL belongs to works as a good motivating factor to draw them both together.
Assuming the voidsent is outright a typical villain with few redeeming characteristics then attempting to usurp control over WoL and merging their souls to become more whole for power sounds like a good villainous hook that could have the voidsent seek WoL out and potentially make them another recurring villain,
If the Voidsent laments the lack of heroes their world has and wants to have another try at being a hero they may feel their world needs then perhaps they could also attempt to usurp WoL for the purpose of purifying themselves, their 1/14 of a soul might be entirely tarnished by darkness but at this point even their corrupted aether could be a drop in a bucket next to the aether making up WoL's soul so by merging they could theoretically dilute the darkness of their own soul enough to negate it's corruption. I think it's important to note that Ardbert appears to either still be in their despite merging with WoL , or their memories are something WoL can tap into, either could be the case since WoL appears to either speak as ardbert or allows ardbert to speak through them them when returning to Seto. The possibility that a re-joined part of an soul could retain a sense of self could be important for futher potential meetings with other pieces of Azem and i think the difference between a regular re-joining and what happened in adbert's case is that ardbert did not die in a conventional way, instead they abandoned their body in order to travel to the source which doesn't seem so different from what happens when voidsent are summoned into the source that a voidsent couldn't also act similarly if re-joined, that and the fact that ardbert willingly merged with WoL which again could have implications for attempted possession .
I wouldn't ignore the possibility of the voidsent being an outright ally either though i find this less interesting and i think if that was the case they'd seek WoL out not because they're holding onto most of any particular soul but simply because they're the hero of the source. so such a direct link as being literally cut from the same cloth as WoL wouldn't be needed as a hook in this case.
As for Zenos. His every action brought suffering to others and he simply didn't care. His disregard the harm he caused and would continue to cause in the pursuit of what, for him, passed for meaning, if he were allowed to live meant he was utterly warped. And yet I still feel sad that the circumstances of his life led him to the point where he only found happiness in the heat of combat, amongst death and suffering and when you think about it he wasn't entirely wrong about life's meaning coming from a kind combat, if you sort of squint at life, it's challenges and what we mean by combat. If you take combat as being a struggle against challenge and adversity . What would life be without something to aspire towards, something to overcome? meaning can definitely come from the mountains each person has to climb weather that's a literal mountain or just the challenges you might face going into work or playing a sport or even logging into a game . Zenos talks about the moment. the time where he feels alive, where he is finally facing some challenge, has some adversity that he may or may not overcome and that outlook isn't totally dissimilar to the answers the scions give at ultima thule. The Ea are fixated on the futility of their actions having no meaning in the now because of the fact that eventually at some undetermined point in the future everything will end. All of their knowledge means nothing if it won't be passed on forever. The answer , if i remember correctly, boils down to that future doesn't matter. What matters is the now and now, with the time i have, i will seek knowledge as its own end, this is one of the things that gives me my meaning.
I've seen the "i can fix him" meme but I can't help but wonder if, given time and the appropriate nudging or if the events that shaped him had fallen just a little bit differently Zenos could have found another struggle to devote himself to. I grieve for the fact that in all likely hood this could never happen and ultimately there was no life for him where he could find happiness and purpose in the way that , say, WoL does. The whole thing i just. Sad but i think that's the point. I wouldn''t complain if they did bring him back, give him more chances to just be the utter bastard that he is or even to have that chance to try to find meaning in something other than a situation where life and death hang in the balance. But with things as they are now his end is absolutely fine. it's not a bad thing that something feels bad, that's life and weather you like it or not Zenos left his exactly how he would have wanted to. if you like him as a character you can have that at least and you can feel bad about their story ending as well.
its zemus, its gotta be if that really is golbez and the arch demons
I was thinking the Dark Knight/Golbez guy might be our shard, but this is an interesting idea too.
I'm 50/50 on them being our 13th Reflection or Zenos, either would be cool!
But whichever way it goes, it would be even cooler if this Voidsent could be an upgrade to our Lemure in some capacity (like a glamour or something, much like Egi/Carbuncle Glams)…
Personally I subscribe to the theory that OUR avatar is Azem's 13th shard. Zenos should 100% stay dead, he had the perfect send-off and bringing him back yet again would definitely be disappointing when we need to be looking towards new storylines.
Just want to say the FF14 and FFRK versions of World of Darkness are some of my absolute favorite songs in the franchise.
I love Zenos but I don’t think it’d be right to have him back, don’t want them to make him into a crutch, his story ended in EW and I’d like to have jt that way, didn’t YoshiP confirm that he really is dead?
