If anything, he's being respectful and supporting of Elden Ring and of everyone who wants to play it
Not so much "calling out" as much as pointing out the elephant in the room regarding the initial release date. He is a gamer through and through. Last year during one if 14's live letters, he entered the the stream with a Switch playing TOTK.
He has also encouraged the 14 community in the past, in order to prevent burn out, to take breaks from the game and resub at their leisure. He is aware that people have other interests (and he will likely be playing too).
An indie souls like Enotria: The Last song also shifted their release date after discovering Elden rings DLC release date XD
