Xeno Rants about FFXIV Patch Schedule

Xeno reacts to Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.16 patch notes and rants about the duration between Final Fantasy 14 Patches. Four months is too much dead time in between patches and Square Enix has to try to reduce it to 3 months or lower.

  1. The previous patch cycle was clearly much better and didn’t take too long to arrive.

Adding an extra month of delay is really significant in the end, and it makes the wait truly unbearable because the patch content itself hasn’t actually increased.
They’re not any richer than those from Stormblood, for example, which had a patch cycle of 3.2 months at that time, not 4.4 months on average like now.
It’s way too much, and we end up getting incredibly bored.

I clearly think they should return to the previous patch cycle because, at the moment, nothing justifies the current cycle except making us lose an extra month of subscription with no benefit on our end, apart from a lot of boredom. The patches are too shallow, and the content has no replayability.

  2. That's one reason I'm taking a break from the game now. I can't do Savage / Ultimate content due to private life busyness, I'm capped on all tomes, cleared all DT EX trials and have all wings, also helped other people to get wings. I'm really anticipating the Cosmic Exploration or new grindy zones to spend time at. I also wonder if they'll continue the Zadnor quest line as it ended with a cliffhanger about the Empire.

  3. i think if the game don't have enough content and you guys think it's not worth your sub then go unsub, maybe if we move on to play other game too much and SE starting to see the truth then they gonna bring more thing to the patch to start make it worth for us to play again

  4. This is very reminiscent of WoW's patch cycle. There was a time (I don't know if it's still like this I don't play retail anymore) where they were 4-6 months long. It was so painful.

  5. There’s a concept in software dev called the Mythical Man Month. Adding more people != faster and more efficiency due to the overhead it introduces like communication and management which would actually slow it down more. Could likely kill the game itself.

  6. Demi II is definitely harder to get than Demi I

Demi II is and was only abundant the first week when everyone was getting that first clear bonus.

After that and once you're in farm mode, each clear gives you 2 Dem I and 1 Demo II, and bonus hours also only give out 8 random Demi Is, so the only time you get extra Demi II is when you help first timers which nowadays it's C41 if you're lucky.

So in a normal farm group you get more Demi I, at minimum 2, and at best 10. The most I've gotten is 7, 2 from the clear and 5 from bonus. I'm sitting at over 260 Demi Is that are basically useless, or were rather, and 40 something Demi IIs

  7. "Ok. Whatever" is indeed what I also said once I've unsubbed 2 months ago. Once you get out of the trap mantra "but I need to sub for my house" – as an end-game player you immediately realize that you've just been throwing your money away for pretty much nothing. DT released 5 months ago and there is STILL zero info in sight as of to when new exploration zones will be rolled out ( *I bet it's going to be at some point during the end of spring/summer). For an expansion worthy-content to be announced and only to be rolled out more than half a year into expansion's life cycle is absolutely bullsh%%. Moving forward – if content of that nature is not there on day one – I call it a scam and immediately pass. Talk to Wuk Lamat? Talk to this – /spit

  8. Well they are for sure seeing the results in player numbers. Current rate of decline is trending toward the active player count going below Pre Shadowbringers levels. They really botched this expansion.

  9. i tried to remember what i was doing this time last expansion.
I was running treasure maps with my FC and trying my hand at savage because i was new and wanted to give it a shot,
but now that i know I don't have the patience for anything above an EX, I just have nothing to do.

7.05 had Savage and treasure dungeons. Sweet. My FC does maps every other week. add that to my list of relevant content.
7.1 had a new dungeon and alliance raid. well… treasure maps are so easy that i dont need the gear, and i dont like how the gear looks for glam, so meh
7.15 had Ultimate and Chaotic, both of which are too high end for me to be interested.

Where's the new bozja? where's the space exploration stuff? Where's the new relic? Where's Beastmaster? I wish they'd released more that isn't so built around the high-end content.
About to buy a WoW sub until 7.2 and see if the grass is any greener. Here's hoping we get something good in March
