  1. Started playing summer 21. Definitely felt the burnout during 6.3. Cleared the current savage tier for the first time ever. Then it’s just like what do I do? There’s so much to do in this game, but I’ve never felt incentivized to do any of it. Touched Island Sanctuary and just fell asleep.

  2. "Not everybody can do" – and that's perfect and how it should be, we can't all do everything. However, there are problems;

    1. People need a reason to do it (otherwise, why bother, like criterion)
    2. Everybody wants/needs to do it for bragging rights or because #1

Enter the WoW M+ scene. Great when it first came out, went downhill, got flooded with casuals, became toxic and is now a shitshow. It's been nerfed so badly that it's a joke and casuals are now doing +20 keys, which are about the equivilent of +8 when it first released.

If you put something out of reach, people will try and get it – whether they want it or not.

  3. All they need to do is overhaul gear system, add content like mythic plus from wow, and the game will be fun to log in again. Now, its just dreading. I legit played no life starting in 5.3 and have over 10k hours of playtime. But now I haven't logged into the game since 6.1 lol

  4. I been playing since 2.2 and for the most part I’m happy with the game. I would like more reasons to log on but currently I have a full time job and at most 4 hours per day to play on weekdays, if I even get to play on weekday, so the current amount of content is decent for someone like me.
That being said they messed up pretty bad on two things in my opinion. The first is relic. Where is the relic? Am I meant to accept the Manderville tome weapon as a relic? Bruh. And rewards for content such as criterion being so bad is really such a shame. The content is quite good but it will be completely dead next expansion, unlike Eureka and Bozja. I think it’s fantastic that Eureka and Bozja are still active content since this game has a focus on keeping content around instead of removing it each expansion (with some exceptions) but EW will be an expansion without content that people will be doing next expansion.
TLDR I’m someone with limited time to play so I haven’t felt the content drought the way some others have but I still want more reasons to log in.

  5. They at least need to meet Shadowbringers in midcore content. I honestly couldnt give two shits about streamer/hardcore content, but more of that would be good too.

  6. I was not a huge fan of Bozja or Eureka when they came out, or at least I thought. I only realized when it was absent how much time I put into it and overall how much there was to do in those zones. I really enjoyed the grind and the type of content that you can hop in alone, with friends, or total strangers anytime you want and grind something out. I got severely burned out in an attempt to shoehorn savage raiding into my schedule with the erratic nature of my job and trying to go back to school and it make me completely despise the game by the time we cleared the 2nd raid tier in EW. Just now coming back into the game from a long break, I'm getting my gatherers and crafters leveled, achievement hunting, etc. Overall, I miss the always-available type of content that took a lot of dedication, but was still able to be completed.

And just to add on, I am hoping for some of the uniqueness of jobs that we had before. Everything felt extremely homogenized and jobs lost their identity in this expansion, and hope to see that changed up in Dawntrail.

  7. Ironically, I've been playing for about 2 years, and I'm starting to realize why alot players will let the patches sit for a while before jumping back in. I've caught up with MSQ, maxed the jobs, expect for fisher and blue mage.

All that's left for me to do is raiding and the more grindy content like relics and tribes. I'm just playing other games while I wait for the FC to become active again.

  8. Ex variants of dungeons hard modes and it just seems like they've been cutting more and more content only stuffs I've been playing for the past few years is modding and square says that's illegal. 🤷‍♀️

Make more dungeons more explorer mode expansion fc expansion. Game's kinda tired.
Really liked palace of the dead.

  9. Hmm… Obviously I do feel a bit different than Xeno because we probably have two very different lives. 😀 He is a streamer who seems to live for gaming (mainly FFXIV) and I am just some guy who has a job and many other things going on (friends, family, activism, art, music, organising events, hiking etc. pp.). So as someone who plays just a couple of hours a week, FFXIV has enough to discover – even after 3 years. And I even think they do a pretty good job in adding new stuff every now and then.
But…from a perspective like some hardcore player/streamer I definitely see the point of frustration because it is not challenging enough (something a casual doesn't really search for). So maybe they could add more difficult stuff and make it more interesting for those types of players, too, in my opinion.
(EDIT: I think the main difference is that I enjoy experiencing new stuff for the new stuff, if that makes any sense. I don't do it for loot, glamour or whatever. I did all of the Endwalker alliance raids because I like the vibe and even the gameplay of it. I just enjoy it. 😀 This is why I also enjoy doing older dungeons, trials and raids.)

  10. The game just needs more content in extreme difficulty or slightly higher. Been playing the game for like 3 years and I loved it. I did raids, ultimates and even enjoyed some grinding. But due to irl I can’t really raid with statics anymore cause of schedule issues and now there is really nothing left to do for me. Didn’t play for a few month at this point.

  11. How peopel still not understand that Square is milking the gams since Stormblood and just constantly cut it down. It will not be saved. Never.

The last trick they had was luring in WoW players with a marketing campaign to sell all the old stuff to them as new. But of course this can't work forever. The WoW player get throught the content form eight years at one point anr realise, that they were lied to and leave. And you can't reapeat that trick.

Square will continue to milk those who remains with minimal effort, that's it.

  12. Xeno's complaints are fine but they mostly represent like 5-10% of the community. The people who mainly enjoy doing the hardcore content, he probably leans even closer to the top 1% of the playerbase too of people who can do/clear ultimates. There is so much content in the game that he hasn't even bothered to look at doing because its not super hardcore, and because of that he thinks theres nothing to do.

In terms of QoL changes to gear I agree, you should be able to get better gear faster. Which is a kinda suprising point he made to me because that goes against his desire for content to keep him subbed longer 😛

  13. I think them not having a bozja/eureka thing has left a pretty big void in the game when you think about it.
Tonnes of bosses, 3 alliance raids (castrum, delubrum and dalriada), equipment, mounts and other collectibles and just a decent spot to hang out and level your jobs.

That got replaced with animal crossing from wish, and criterion dungeons that give you materia.

Hot take: the relic was better when you actually had to do something for it. It's literally just a participation award now.

  14. exactly, SE needs to turn up the content amount!!

and make more "must have" glamours (reason why so many still do Nier & Eureka / Boja.., EW 2nd Savage tier had "must have" glamours, but that's not enough)

  15. I don't understand why you can sell criterion dungeons and unreal trials mounts. The only reason i do extremes because you can't buy the mount from MB. On top of that they really need to make these content relevant by adding secent rewards to them.

  16. I really wish they did listen to you, or even just more people who care about the top tier content. I've wanted to dig into it before but the jump to it has been either time consuming beyond what I can spare or the catchup stuff you mention from the tomestones are just not good enough. Fair i guess, omni's gotta get their gil somewhere but it does feel strange having FFXIV be my 2nd MMO.

  17. As a player that’s been playing for around 2-3 years, the thing I lack in this game is information. More specifically info about unfinished content or locations of entrances. You might know where Bozja is… I have to google the location. I don’t even know where the beasttribes are or which ones I’m missing. The quest log limit also doesn’t help the issue…

  18. Endwalker's story was super good… in places. The problem for me at least was that it focused on anime shit for a significant portion of the story where it was down to us to slay some god like figure. There was very little room for smaller stories. In From the Cold was extraordinary from a storytelling by gameplay perspective, for example.

But everything else. They will not innovate in this patch any further. We're gonna get a little dungeon, we're gonna get a little alliance raid, the power creep will be just enough to reach close to max ilevel for the patch. It's a great formula if you are new. But as you learn their old tricks it becomes far less interesting. Especially as the story is more of an exposition dump than a test of your reflexes. They just can't keep this formula up; people will leave for sure. I suppose they'll come back, but there is just so no staying power beyond that new sheen. Gearing sucks, exploration sucks, progression sucks. They are shooting themselves in the foot by holding so steadfastedly to their formula. Expansions in particular need to turn shit upside down, it keeps things fresh. I don't know what else to say, I'm sure it intersects with other peoples' opinions. The game is getting stale and boring, and they will learn the hard way what that means if they don't innovate any further.

  19. MMO content rarely lasts as long as it should because most players just are too good compared to how players performed 15 years ago or so. Even mediocre players are able to consume content way faster than the average player in the past. That's why everyone but the most casual of players with little time consume content not unlike locust – and that's not even meant in a negative way; we just consume content faster than any developer could keep up with. This is also true for other games that do not have a content loop that can be infinitely repeated

  20. It's the constant struggle of "I wan to be able to play the game forever" and "I want to be able to play the game, enjoy what I like, and leave for other games". I feel like FFXIV has the best balance for this, but I can feel also that the playing forever part is kinda hurting right now. The patches for Endwalker were so boring in my opinion.

  21. The problem with endwalker patches was not the quality of the content, criterion has great fights,
But it heavily lacks in replayability, same for island sanctuary.

While a bozja was infinitely redoable

  22. im happy that theres not that much content. i dont want to play one game all the time. but i get how you guys are bored ^^ there could be better solutions tho, i dont see why dungeons cant have a harder version.
