  3. And this is why he is praised by the community, man literally saved the brand rep and the game without having worked on any final fantasy game and then goes on to direct the best mainline numbered game to boot before coming back and dropping a new 14 expansion on us XD

  4. Square is known for having terrible execs being carried by great games. Their business decisions are non-sensical a lot of times and has landed the company in hot water many times. FF14 1.0 is just one instance of this. For example, console exclusivity which is still a problem today.. They refuse to market the games that don't have Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest in the title and Dragon Quest only really gets marketing in Japan where it is already popular, even more popular than FF. (this is so bad that people excited for some of their games didn't even know the game was already released)
    Last year they also released many of their games back-to-back. like 5 games across a few months causing them to all underperform and cannibalize each other.
    Honestly, if it weren't for FF14's success and constant flow of money Square would have dissolved as a company a long time ago.

  5. 1.0 was Definitely a dumpster-fire.. but it was OUR dumpster-fire….. I still fondly remember that first opening scene after making a character and picking Limsa as my starting city (though being an archer, and the archers guild being in Gridania only was a bit of a rub >_> ).

    You really should look up the 3 'opening cutscenes' from 1.0's days, if any video's of it exist here on the Youtubes.
