Final Fantasy XIV’s Cash Shop gets closer to being in game, would this be some kind of deal breaker for the community if it ever made its way fully into the game?

It can be. It depends on how much you are willing to tolerate. If you can't earn it in the game, it's a problem regardless of other circumstances.
I’ve bought outfits and stuff on Online Store and ended up not using it because it looked “weird”. I have split things up through plates and have some great plates now.
I don't mind it being out of game. Because I have only used it once. But if it's in game FFXIV will definitely make more money. I have not bought things because I just didn't want to log into the online store.
Nope. Not for me. If the cash shop becomes invasive it will disappoint me and worry me about the future of the game. But I remain confident that won’t happen. To be honest, the odds are slim that I’ll let this game go. Unless…. they bring in NFTs.
As long as it stays just being looking at glamours from shop it is fine. It is when we start seeing the skips and such that it gets a little predatory. I am fine with this change.
Id love to see a poll asking a what percentage of active players have spent money on the cash shop, and how much?
100% with Chris on this.
No, it’d actually make it easier, than having to go to external site, login, add to cart, login again just to buy something. As long as it’s not pay to win then there’s no issue with cash shop in game
2 things
1. Like what many people are already saying I’ve bought outfits that don’t look good on my character and I’ve regretted the purchases
2. Ive purchased from the store often and it became so annoying having to constantly put in my password because they aren’t sure it’s really me and as long as that changes I’ll be happy
Not for me.
I already saw how it can be invasive with ESO or WoW.
Before anyone say that that square wouldn't never make it like that…
they said the same thing about the WoW store when it launched.
Personally I like the idea of having access to the mog station via the game.
As long as it wasn't shoved in my face, maybe have it be a section in the options menu. There have been many times I just didn't buy something because I didn't feel like logging into the website. Though downside , I would be the kind of person who would end up spending more because of how easy it would be to access and pay for items.
the analogys tho
If it was in a menu or only available in the inn room like this, I wouldn't care. As long it isn't flashing on screen or a big pop up when you first log in. It has a different use and stuff but it's one thing I've liked about Lost Arks store, it's there but I rarely notice it and the game doesn't really make a big deal of attracting you to it.
I dont mind cash shop in game but I think they are capable of doing better outfits and other items in general. They have a lot of trash in mogstation
The mog station has been simplified as well . I like the ease of use. Thanks for this great discussion
I think Yoshi-P is afriad of the slippery slope where SE execs start to push the store harder, and this opens the door to them.
Its definitely we'll witness the moment cash shop implemented.
Probably single best solution is to move the entire glamour system to one like WoW's (except you've got to add the item to unlock it), but it tells you where the item is. That way you can seamlessly include the Moggstation items… along with everything else. Ideally, a player would be able to design a glam, get a list of stuff to go get, and (if needed) go buy whatever they need off of the Moggstation so it's still there, just in the background as it really needs to remain.
I'd actually love if they could allow us to "try" the clothes ingame, not just a preview in the little window, but inside the inn being able to "IMAGINE" how we look would be great.
I don't see an issue with it actually only a benefit. To those that do t use they won't see much change. To those that do use it they will have the option to see before they buy and will likely be able to buy without logging out and back into the game on a different website making it much easier. It will also allow them to not have regrets later in purchasing items with the try on feature. So long as it doesn't change the outcome of actual content there's no loss only gain in implementing this system.
Fantasias may rule in this situation though.
I know this is an unpopular opinion and that's fine – we're all entitled to one, however, I believe Final Fantasy has been on that "slippery slope" for some time now. Cash shop items should be cosmetic and nothing more.
Level boosting, faster mounts, hell, even the multi-seater mounts are a little far. Does having the ability to have seven additional people in one mount make the came pay-to-win? No. However, as far as I know there is no in-game method in which you can obtain one.
Taking things one step further – and this was brought up in the video – I feel Viera and Hrothgar races were at least, in part, a mistake. At least speaking from a visual appearance of head armor standpoint.
The last thing the game needs is to have access to a cash shop/MOG station directly in the game. While people would argue "if it's just cosmetic it's fine. It just saves me a step." This is that slope. You start adding things in one at a time and it becomes the norm. "I don't want to level my crafters. I'll just buy a crafter skip." "Crafter skip combo pack. -10% off!", etc.
I've spent money on things that look stupid on my character, things i never would have purchased if i had seen it on me b4 hand. This is a good change, and the fact there is an in game lore reason for it is amazing. You are dreaming of it, and much like in real life, it requires money to make your dreams come true. Also gives the bed a purpose.
To be honest I don't mind having a cash shop integrated into the game. Sometimes I do visit the cash shop when there are sales going on or if I see something that catches my eye. However, saying that, I don't mind a cash shop in the game as long as they don't PUSH it on us to keep using it. As long as it is just a "nice to have" type of thing instead of them making it a "gotta have" type of thing then I'm cool with it.
i dislike this i’d rather they keep the cash shop limited to the website alone, the dream fitting system is a bit of a slippery slope, if it is implemented as is I may begrudgingly accept it however I do not want the ability to purchase to ever enter the game.
Cash shop ingame is fine it's don't give it a giant button I can't turn off or constant notifications when I log in that is the problem. Even as someone that could be considered a whale I don't want that. Put it in its own corner where you have to want to find it to see it and anyone that complains about is unreasonable. It's already there no company is going to get rid of it and it should be easy to use for the people that want it.
look at babylons fall and avengers I dont trust square when they start to ask for money.
I just think people need to get over it. It's part of the game….all of them.
For those that have been around for years, they will or can try to disguise it a bit, maybe keep it in the background because everyone knows it's there. But for games that have came out recently, there's no reason to do that. So, it's just more "in your face" and that's it.
This isn't going to stop. Everyone is going to be doing this at some level from now on.
But if everyone ends up doing something like this, which I think they will, it will ultimately come down to the same thing it always does and that's..is it an experience worth having?
Being able to access the store in game? Well it wouldn't be a "deal breaker", we'd all still play, but it would be kind of bad.
HOWEVER, just being able to preview how outfits would look on your character, maybe even allowing to try on the individual pieces to see how they would look if we're considering buying a set for its separate pieces for a transmog? THAT is something I'd be fine with having in-game.
I don't get stuff from the cash shop very often but every time I've looked at an outfit I have definitely wished I could try it on somehow to see how it would look so I have no problem with this. Now if in 10 years every time I pull up a menu I get a pop up telling me to check out this thing or that thing or this is only available for the next 48 hr messages that would push me away from the game. It's a gamble, a feature that is helpful now but may lead to changes that aren't great later.
Abolish the cash shop and make all those items obtainable in game. Cash shops have no right existing in mmos with paid subscriptions and paid expansions.
I've used the cash shop. While the dream fitting thing is neat, it makes me worried. This implementation feels to me like a concession on Yoshi-P's part; like, SE might be trying to pressure him to direct more people to the cash shop. While I do have faith in the man to keep SE at bay, these things start small. I just don't want to see this turn into an Activsion level intrusion. I'm talking having a cash shop vendor in the middle of the cities where we can see each other try on and buy items in order to convince more people to spend money.
Maybe I'm being conspiratorial and my concerns are misplaced. I sincerely hope I'm overthinking it.
The possibility of previewing the mogstation items is definitely a great thing for customers in general. Buying things blindly benefits nobody
When it comes to the shop my preference is it staying strictly separate on the mogstation, but honestly as long as it isn't featured prominently and intrusively I don't mind too much.
I've played games where they keep throwing the cash shop window constantly in your face. This is honestly nothing compared to that. I don't mind what yoship and team are doing
They should monetize housing and glamour and turn the game free to play they'll get more money for sure…
Tacky but also useful
Why talk about something that helps make this game a financial success? Y’all bored and make conversation out of anything.
