  1. OMG, I am late to the party

Amazing video. As veteran FFXIV player I totally understood your complaints and the analogies are awesome. I laughed so loud

It is refreshing for me to hear your perspectives and I kinda agree with some.

I love the game but I am not blind or stubborn, quite ofter I found myself frustrated about certain desing choices but also I understood why some things were implemented in the way there are currently in game

But at the end of the day, its all about the journey and is worthy

I wish you many good journeys onwards

  2. I hate to admit it, but that Audi commercial was so accurate, I cringed so hard xD Glad you got some enjoyment out of the game, despite your criticisms, which are totally valid btw. I hope you come back for more story though 🙂

  4. Fantastic video. Right now the only MMO ive been playing for years but I agree with every criticism in this video. I sadly cant see it happening that they'll ever fix the combat and give characters meaningful progression but it seems like they're fine being the McDonalds of MMO. Certainly one of the reasons I have a hard time recommending the game to someone who isnt really into story stuff. The whole rotation and balancing being tuned towards endgame raids really make the combat not very engaging and fun outside of it that content. Would certanly recommend this video to anyone looking into playing the game since its very well balanced review.

it was only the Sharlayan council and somewhat Venat (as a last resort) that wanted to use the ship to escape. In theory this works because we only turned into monsters if you had lost hope, so they were just escaping the planet from monsters, hence why they were building spaceship version of Noahs Ark. The council had no idea of what was happening and how people were turning into monsters so from their perspective it was the right thing to do and Venat didn't have the strength to reach and fight the Endsinger and if we didn't have the strength either, Venat wanted the ship as a plan B to escape and to live.
Which was why there was a whole arc of us trying to convince Sharlayan to let us use the ship to reach Endsinger and the entire point of the Venat fight to prove to her that we can face the bird.

  6. It was fun to hear your takes on the game. I like the game as a casual game, so I’m pretty much only playing when new MSQ drops or when I want to get new dresses for my cat girl. I agree that the combat is pretty dog but the raids seem fun. This game is just not the one I will put a lot of time and effort into gameplay-wise, I have other games for that which I prefer. That being said I do love parts of the game and hope that the next expansion will have a banger story to play through👍🏻

  7. Russian Wizard dropping the most honest and amazing review of FF14 ARR>EW ever. Glad he got value out the game, hope to see more content from FF14 post-review news and/or other MMOs

  8. FFXIV is the most inconsistent game I have played. The highs go up to a 10/10, but the lows can be really bad too. The open-world is pointless, enemies out in the world are never a threat and always avoidable and don't drop anything of interest. Get to a new zone, be impressed at the visuals then just get the aetherytes so you can fly over it all. The gear and drops are very disappointing, there is no cool drops from bosses that change your playstyle, there is no options with how you play at all. If you chose one class, thats your rotation for ever. The "talent tree" in FFXIV is the job system, you have to entirely change class to get a different playstyle.

This does keep the game balanced, but it doesn't keep it very fun. Sure if you add gear/specs then you get people all going for the same meta gear & spec. But I'm not someone who goes for meta spec/builds and enjoy experimenting.

Story can be a 10/10 especially in ShB and HW. But then there's those filler quests.. too many of them. I wish they would prune some more of the fat, reduce the post-patch quests in ARR more. Reduce the banquet quests in ARR, reduce the fetch quests in HW, reduce the Doman/Kojin filler in StB, Reduce the trolley quests in ShB, reduce the Loporrits quests in EW.

A bit of filler is okay, but there is far too much. It hurts the pacing and makes the game take longer when its already a story that took me 5 months to go from start to end of ShB.. with Endwalker thats 6 months easily for a lot of people.

  9. Loved the FF content wizard. Thanks for helping us avoid spoilers and for the lost ark comparisons! Was really great to hear your take on it. Looking forward to what you do next

  10. FFXIV is my MMO home for the foreseeable future, but I tend to agree with the critiques here. I can see why this wouldn't be for everyone. It does help that I've been playing Final Fantasy games since I was 8, and FFIV was the very first RPG I ever played.

Thanks for giving it a fair shot, and if you decide to jump back in later to see the 7.0 story, I look forward to those streams. Either way, good luck with whatever game you try next.

  11. Wait, I thought he stopped and I also give a lot of respect that he went through the msq and p8s. So why is he progging ucob and blue mage adventures apparently today?? Regardless was a pleasant surprise

  12. Someone who actually thinks Heavensward is better than Stormblood. Hell yea. I personally liked it the most out of every expansion, but only marginally better than the second best, which is ShB.

Endwalker trial music was great though.

Another thing I'd like to mention–the ship being built to ferry the people to the moon–that part wasn't invalidated at all. While it's original purpose was rendered pointless, you DO use it to go to the ends of the universe to fight twitty bird.

  13. Honestly, as someone who loves FFXIV, yeah im not in it for the combat at all. I like the theme park feeling of trying new raids and trials, dungeons. But it's just that, a theme park. You take the ride and you go "wow thats really cool" and then you leave it. I'm not going to ride on Splash Mountain at Disneyland and be excited every time.

It's weird because the combat in the PVP now after the rework, is more engaging and has more character thematic and flavor with each job than the PVE combat. Every ability feels like it does something substantial, but you can't have that in PVE because there's a chance it might break some bosses or do something else. I don't know, it really needs to change. I definitely play FFXIV to hang out with friends, experience the story, and do new content at the time of its release. And it's good for it, but there could be so much more depth to the combat. You shouldn't have to do challenging content specifically just for the combat to feel at least ENGAGING. Challenging content should be when the content goes from engaging, to hard. But instead it goes from nothing to engaging and hard.

I wonder if that's why Yoshi P also wanted to be the producer on FFXVI since it's a game heavily focused on action combat and he needed a break from the boring FFXIV combat haha. Aside from all that, fantastic overview of the game in both its strengths and weak points. Glad to see that you were able to enjoy the story at the very least.

  14. As a 11 year vet I 100% agree haha XD!!!! 🙂
Yah combat is only interesting for a couple classes. Dragoon, Ninja, and Bard for sure. Every other class it's pretty easy. Blackmage is just the hardest the MAXIMIZE damage compared to other classes. ♥

  15. I gotta say after watching this video it makes a lot of sense for Yoshi-P to add audio visual indicators for correct combos like Tekken. I wonder what it would sound like to hit all of the different combos.
