Why We Aren't Switching to WoW

We have been playing FFXIV exclusively for the last year. World of WarCraft has released its new expansion Dragonflight. What will the guys do?

  1. I played WoW end of vanilla first half of cata came back MoP then left end of BFA when I heard shadow lands was squishing the 120, I also weren't happy with all their nerfs and no fixes. I started pre SHB and never looked back. I was seriously tempted by dragon flight and the new hero class but then I paused to think all hero classes start off great then they nerf them to the ground and they are never the same again

  2. You guys should stick to the podcasts where we don't see your faces. This is my first time coming across one of your videos but you two are some goofy looking Mofo's and its distracting really. Just show your channel logo, no one wants to see you. Thanks 🤣🤣 P.S. stay with Final Fantasy.

  3. As someone who gave up on WoW about a month into Shadowlands (having played since mid-Cataclysm) and had been playing XIV since mid-WoD (around patch 3.1 for XIV), I kind of feel the same. I am curious about Dragonflight, but I don't know if I want to commit back to WoW (buy the expansion, buy sub time, reinstall the whole game and addons, etc.) because I don't know if the content will last long enough to make that time and money investment worth it. I also feel like if I pick up the expansion now – only a week since release – I'll already be hopelessly behind in gear, so I won't be able to do any kind of meaningful endgame content (M+, raiding, even Heroic dungeons honestly), which kind of kills any remaining interest I might have had.

  5. 1:22 — 2019 Spring? – Heh, same as me 😀 And yeah, story in BfA took a turn from bad to worse to catastrophy. And burnout was a thing, too… They can fix their systems and make DF a great expansion, but they didnt unmake those story-trainwrecks named BfA and ShL. And unless they completely delete them and everything leading up to them, I wont reward them with another sub. Also, they didnt get rid of factions (its still a thing, despite the little cross-factions stuff they FINALLY implemented… too little, too late, if you ask me) and I still hate the grafics 😀 I might return, if they solve the problem with continuity in their world and their story. One of the things that always bothered me, was that they removed certain events, not only the pre-patches, that tie the old and new expansions together (because, I dont know, who needs logic in stories?), but also things like "Wrathgate"! Why??? Wrathgate in particular is one of the coolest events ever ! And you cant play it anymore. Noone, who hasnt played Wrath back then will ever know (unless, of course, they play Wrath Classic and stay around long enough for that patch to drop…). And its a shame.

10:35 — Dracthyr like "Gargoyles"? Okay, thats a seriously awesome idea o.O

What I dont like is, that the Aspects (or rather former Aspects) and the dragons in general get humanised. We talk about beings that are not mortal, some are literally tens of thousants of years old, they are gigantic with an unimaginable long history… The whole awesomeness of dragons gets kinda killed if you keep pushing them into these diminutive mortal forms – horns or not. And its a shame.

I caught myself thinking, that I might give DF a try… but then I'd have to pay two subs (I have a house, its small but its mine, and I intend to keep it…) … which I simply wont do. Should I ever get a burnout from it, I'll go to GW2: they are better than WoW in almost every aspect (despite my personal gripes with the game) and there's so much content… You should give it a try btw 🙂 It'll be worth your time.

  6. 23:27 Oh boy, this made me remember a very sad memory while playing MoP as a new WoW player back in 2019 or 2020. Forgot what specific quest it was, but it was with Chen and Li Li and we had to enter a dungeon to continue the story. I really wanted to do it because I thought the story was interesting at that point; unfortunately I wasn't able to because according to my partner, we'd be waiting for hours to form a group willing to do old content. I was enjoying the game up until that point. 😔

  7. The thing with Derek Proudmoore was dumb from the start. The guy has died at sea 25 years ago in the Warcraft timeline, during the events of Warcraft 2. There shouldn't be anything left but bones.
And then yeah, they teased us with the possibility of having him be a walking/talking plague-bomb sent to Jaina, but the WHOLE of BfA was about screwing the Horde out of every possible win they could get during that 4rth war, so Baina Bloodhoof decided to free him, which was the 'nice' thing to do. Derek Proudmoore ultimately decided to stay as part of the Forsaken after the end of BfA, but he's technically sitting in a sort-of neutral position, being there for Calia Menethil more than anything.

The Alliance would have to start the next war is THE DUMBEST way possible for him not to want to switch Alliance and go back to his sister's side.

Speaking of which, there is no way a 5th war between the Horde and Alliance doesn't end up in a complete stupid mess where every player from at least one faction gets angry at Blizzard.

  8. I"m not sure if that's what you meant, but you kind of can import UI configs using your character's files on "…DocumentosMy GamesFINAL FANTASY XIV – A Realm Reborn". ♥

PS. Being a Dungeon Master, I wonder if there are a Pathfinder or D&D stream somewhere. 🤔

  9. Honestly I haven't played a blizzard game ever since the whole scandal but I lurk. At Thai point I will never touch a blizzard game as long as bobby kotick is anywhere near blizzard.

  10. I was one of those WoW refugees who tried FFXIV for the first time 1-2 years ago. I loved it from the beginning… the graphics, the story, the epic cinematics and vastness of the world.

Although, some negative aspects about FFXIV most core players just do not seem to bring up so often? I played to the second expansion and by then I was tired because so many quests in FFXIV were "the same". WoW is repetitive too, but in Final Fantasy quest chains feel like they go on for infinity and you have to travel from one end of the map to the other, repeatedly, with not much really happening in the story for hours.

Therefore I was disappointed that the story after a while felt cliché and foreseeable to a point where I couldnt keep going. The time you need to invest to go forward was just too much. Also, the user friendliness isnt always there and I had to spend much time and energy researching forums, asking players for help and googling to find out why I couldnt move on further in the story. Often it felt like underlying requirements for the main story were unclear. My worst experience was contacting the support to ask why I couldnt move forward in a qest, after searching everywhere…after 2 days of waiting they just replied that they have a policy that players have to find it out themselves. During WoW expansions I was sometimes locked out of certain content because of complex system requirements (like the legendary weapon quest line gatekeeping other quests), and the WoW ingame support would explain if you wrote a ticket to them which was great. In FF I also felt that mogstation was so confusing and just finding how to subscribe to the game is not at all straight-forward as a first-time user.

I dont love everything about WoW either ofcourse, and maybe the later expansions of FF are different. I hope the games take lessons from each other. I also hope that MMO players see each other as a community – and not as rivals – no matter what games we play 🙂

  12. I went into WoW:DF really positive. Lasted about 2 weeks. The content outside of the campaign and loremaster is really boring grindfests. I hope the raid is good I guess. I have no interest in running these new annoying dungeons over and over in M+. The hunt and feast events are terrible and you only get the reward packs once a week. The obsidian and cobalt assembly rep grinds put me to sleep and are not innovative at all. WQ are biweekly which leaves you nothing to do unless you are leveling countless alts. Profession overhaul is a massive flop, some being completely broken. Enjoy digging dirt I guess?

I give DF a few weeks after the raid, the drop off will be similar to Shadowlands.

I am returning to FFXIV and working through Stormblood. I really wanted WoW to have a good expansion…. but this rushed buggy mess is not it.

  13. its cause WoW is a shit game and anyone who plays it is either coping or an idiot. /s but in all seriousness if you like it play it, you can even commit the heinous cardinal sin of playing both games at the same time

  14. 8:45 So true. Besides – it's not like FFIV hadn't copied ideas from WoW before; the devs of FF actually said that a lot of their stuff is heavily influenced by WoW.

There's nothing wrong about incorporating ideas that work into your own game.

The reason why I will never play FFIV has actually nothing to do with the gameplay systems or the storytelling or any of that – I simply can't stand the graphics of many asian games. I hate that male characters are either hulking brutes or entirely androgynous, and I absolutely despise that female characters ususally have the face of an eight year old child planted on the body of a Playboy model. I HATE that kind of stuff. And don't even get me started on utterly ridiculous bunnies or girls with bunny ears and fox tails planted on human bodies they really don't match – just urghs.

PS: The Tauren are taken directly from Greek mythology and in the earliest builds of WC 3 they where actually called minotaurs instead of Tauren.

  15. I tried to play some Dragonflight, Story is still a mega mess, they expect you to have played Legion BfA and SL to understand things going on or refreces made on DF and when you do decide to go back and do that old content its all over the place, they threw a friend and i into Nazjatar before we even finished a single zone story in BfA, they tried forcing us to Argus before we even knew wtf was going on and SL ironically has campaign limits to make the story flow better, but those limits are in the wrong places then also triggering patch content early lmao

  16. I never got into WoW.

I tried the free Trial, but was already a bit meh about it. I'm not someone to "live" a Game, espacially when the Story isn't at least decend, neither do I have the mentality to go through with a single Game. I'm someone who enjoys a lot of Things and don't let myself get locked out of trying other Games

  17. Dragonflight is a good expansion, but after 2 months of playing, I already lost interest. The thing that bothers me the most is the renown grind to unlock the story. I want to play and see the whole story without doing tons of grinding. I don't want to do hours upon hours of grinding WQ and side quests in order to be able to unlock the main quest

  18. i blame the wow community for staying in wow this long………..its been dead and dieing for 10 years now. if they just would have stopped subbing, it would could have gotten WOW 2 BY FUCKING NOW…………………..but no the fucking wow addicts who put most of ther elives into that game refuse to let it die( maintained mode kind of like how ff11 is in now) is keeping blizzard from making a NEW GOOD FRESH WOW 2………………

i truly hate the wow fans for more reason that has nothing to do with that game.
