Damn that thumbnail baited me real good
I think FF14 is designed to take breaks because of how obsessive ppl were on FF11, that was the game that would keep you logged on 24/7. Logging off meant you lost opportunities such as respawn timers and simple xp parties.
At the end of the day no one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to stay chained to a game. I don't understand how FF14 adding more group battle content that is essentially 'endless' is a bad thing anyways. (Lets be honest, group battle content is why most people got into the MMORPOG genre for anyways) Allow the people who enjoy the combat, aesthetics and class fantasy of a game have something to eat if they so chose. Why should the game cater exclusively to people who want to play the game a couple weeks every few months? If it were up to me, FF14 should really copy the Mythic+ system but make the real prize some badass looking armor sets, mounts etc. That way casuals don't get so defensive over feeling 'left behind', while still giving a cool reward for those who partake in the grind.
Gotta milk that content somehow. Why not with another why i quit/stopped playing 14 to really get the blood pumping. I don't even need to watch to know what it's about, aka- I'm quitting cause i've done the content and i'm moving on. I'll come back when there's new stuff/patch. ya know. the thing that almost all 14 players (including myself) do.
Let me know if he's actually quitting (the guy in video) cause of other reasons other then done content/story, and is looking to take a break until more stuff drops.
Also- I don't know why this is even a discussion. Asmon making a 15 min vid out of what should be one or two sentences is normal, but Why are people so butthurt over people quitting "their" mmo/ game or taking a break? It's one of the cringiest takes I have seen.
Bait video trying to rage farm. Disregard.
Like I said in other reactions, people malding that their experience is not the same as a streamer's content. Not specific to 14. Tbh, 14 has a lot of content for normal players. Streamable content is different. FF14 has a lot of content for normal people, but outside the story elements of MSQ and side quests, and once you have cleared savage and ultimates, there's just not a lot of combat content. Unless you're like preach and find success in RP, but that's an outlier.
You can see this in Zepla's stream. Zepla is a long time, and a big FF14 streamer, but she's running out of content to actually stream. Before she'd be playing the game quite a bit, but now she's turned to the Asmongold formula. She chats with viewers and react to stuff with the game in the background, then plays a bit before the end of the stream.
I love FFXIV, its the only MMORPG that I play but I always can't help but get embarassed when I get reminded of the toxic part of the community whenever someone's not playing the game anymore or playing other games. Sht's fckng weird and cringey, I don't get why they're like that, they're becoming the face of FFXIV community.
FF14 is just a bad game for weebs.
there's a difference between leaving ffxiv because you played the content you wanted to do and then saying there is nothing to do after you finish the story. there is absolutely plenty of stuff to do after the story. if you're not interested in any of the content outside of raiding and story, fair enough. but saying theres nothing to do once you finish the story is just flat out wrong.
I would have less fun with FFXIV if it made me log in every day. I get busy, I have other games I wanna play, the set up it has rn is nice cause I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything major.
I personally think fomo grinds can be good, but there is a fine line to it. I don't want that to be my only filler, it's really easy to lazily slap that type of gameplay on. Relic weapons in 14 is a grind but it CAN feel good to accomplish.
In the end it all depends, but I personally rather have a game with lull moments in exchange for quality. I have other games in my backlog I can play in the meantime.
Amazing thumbnail bait ! 😆🖤
Honestly people in our FC have taken year long breaks, had kids, got married, moved, came back to game jumped right back in, noone say anything but welcome back we missed you … I don't understand this mentality at all.
The issue is that there is a large amount of content from the past they could expound upon, yet as time went on I believe they realized they could get away with doing less, adding a fucktonne more items to the cash shop(that could be acquired through potential content) and shortcutting class quests from Battle to Gatherer's, not injecting any endgame content other than the treadmill formula they've been using. I think if there were more quality Mmo's or games, I wouldn't feel as bitter about it, but for me there simply aren't a multitude of games that I find entertaining. I'll be putting some gold aside for a PC and playing WoW classic for the first time and make my way to DF. I wager that'll keep me entertained for a good while. Waiting months for a patch only to complete the content in a day or two simply isn't enough and XIV players should hold the game to a higher standard and demand more. Unfortunately a large portion of the community are Rp weebs that are more concerned with parasols and their races' ears fitting into Helms.
FFXIV player here. I take breaks from it all the time. Healthy to walk away when you get bored or burned out. Everything can get boring and repetitive after a while. Legit mostly play FF for the story. I wish WoW cared about its story half as much as FF did…that'd be about the only thing to get me back into it. Still, not sure why folks get so upset about what games others play. Nothing is evergreen.
The only thing I don't like about Final Fantasy XIV is that a lot of mobs and bosses don't have purpose of beeing other just to be beaten/clubbed. In WoW, let's say Harpies , Centaurs, Murlocs etc have a place, culture and independent organisation in that world.
i've been in the FFXIV community since 2.0 early access (and before during closed betas between 1.0 and 2.0) and it's gotten super into some toxic positivity in recent years – much more noticeable in Shadowbringers and Endwalker, especially. idgaf if someone plays differently than i do in terms of just shooting directly through the xpacs to hit current raid stuff, just know how to play your classes, ask questions if you're unsure about something, and keep your gear updated, that's honestly all i care about. but the way some players get absolutely rabid about it is ridiculous if CCs aren't playing the way they think they should or are having fun on screen doing something else completely. let them find things they enjoy in the game ffs.
take breaks! play other games! come back when something sounds interesting or it's the next raid tier! play how you want if something is fun and you do that more than anything else, WHO CARES because the only person paying your sub is you! let people enjoy a game the way they fuckin' want to, lowkey gatekeeping in a way because "well you didn't do it the way I would have" is stupid.
This is why WoW elitists try other games, suck at them, rage at everyone, then run back to WoW. Playing other games is not a bad thing, they should try it.
"People were mad at Rich and how he played FFXIV" Don't get one guy'd
why I reacted to something for free views: because free money.
oh wait sorry different topic.
It's only Asmon I feel has zero ground to stand on when it comes to FF14.
Just fell off playing, didn't even finish the story content, yet uses that as one of his cornerstones to talk about MMO's and reacts to news and content about it.
Wasn't he getting mad views playing it too? Seems like he found he could watch YouTube videos and earn the same amount doing fuck all.
When filming yourself cooking a steak is your yearly effort condensed in to 10 minutes….
The main content of FFXIV is the story. I finished Endwalker couple months ago, did some side content and I'm good. I don't like housing, island, PVP, savages, so I'm done with the game.
I hope Asmond finishes the MSQ to understand why the community loves the game. The game messes with our feelings. If you like PVP, action, farming and etc, maybe you won't like FF.
I didnt know there was a term called "having a main game" until i played mmos. I feel bad when ppl think thats the only game they have to play.
When someone says "I ran out of things to do" I tend to ask them about mounts, minions, triad cards, Savage raiding and the dungeon, getting Ozma, Delibrium Reginae, the BLU mount, Necromancer and Lone Hero…
But this man did Dragonsong Reprisal. Everything else must look like doing shit FATEs after you get there. LOL
By the way is this horseshit attitude towards Rich that Asmongold mentioned. Holy shit I've never been one to watch streams and that story seems worse than I thought.
I've written it before. I find it amusing how resourceful streamers and youtubers are getting to hide that they are chasing trends. All the streamers and youtubers should finally understand that we have understood that they earn their living with it. You don't have to lie to us about every trend or addon and pretend there's some deep reason why you're not playing game XY anymore.
Seriously now? How stupid do these youtubers and streamers think we are? Coincidentally, in front of the new WoW addon, everyone suddenly arrives and wants to explain to us why they no longer play the games with which they previously earned more than enough. I have no problem with it because as I said, I realize that these people earn their living with it. BUT PLEASE stop lying.
Let's be real here. The true reason is: "I got bills to pay and streaming FFXIV full time ain't gonna cut it."
Streamers should cut the bs rationalizations and just keep it real. I respect the grind and hustle. If streaming is my full time job, I would be streaming a variety of games too. It's the most logical choice for income stability.
Most people understand that streaming just one game exclusively will never be a sustainable business model, so stop treating viewers like imbeciles with the crappy excuses.
Thank God more and more people are realizing that FFXIV is just a bad game. It's not catered to TRUE MMORPG enthusiasts. The fact that they ban third party tools is a big turn off. Not to mention they try to hide their community's toxicity by saying "JoshiP says to take a break". It's laughable. I'm glad people are dropping the game and realizing that the move to FFXIV was just a fad. It's time for them to come back and play a REAL MMORPG. Not that weeb shit.
I always suspected that Preach might be Illidan IRL but now you have confirmed it.
Same reason i left the game, the endgame is either too casual or quite hardcore, dungeons are stupid easy, pvp is simplified and with the animation delay and overall a shit experience, then you have raids which normal mode are also easy but savage and ultima are pretty hard and you need a static for that.
There is just no middle ground content that is semi hardcore and scaled to your skill level.
Wildstar would've been the biggest game by now if they didn't fuck up so badly
I mean I just do the msq maybe raid a little then once my sub runs out then just resub for every patch and I still love the game
lets be honest, ffxiv looks like crap too.
Christ how many times we going to talk about quitting final fantasy?
I don't get why people have an issue with it. It's like, "Oh I played GoW all day until I finished all of it. If they add more stuff, I'll jump back in" simple as that, just because it's an MMO doesn't mean people can't finish what they want and then take a break.
Yes ff need more hc content 100% like mythic plus or something mannnn plsss i cant believe that some ppl are against adding more hc content to ff
I don't have a good enough imagination to erp lmao 🤣 😂
It took me far too long to realize they weren't talking to each other.
"Have you gotten every relic weapon for every class? No? Then you haven't done EVERYTHING " – r/ffxiv
This guy sounds like he is talking about GTA online nobody does anything but stands in a circle
when savix said about someone logged in on FFXIV and just use /lean emote on wall
that's what i did everytime i logged in to the game in limsa beside the entrance to the market board XD
i did that while queueing for Duty Roulletes or when i'm on standby waiting for my statics
I still pay monthly and haven't played much in the past few months. I think the devs earned the content it delivers.
I think its fine when you get tired of the game after multiple thousands of hours spend. You can see man enjoys the game and will check the next expansion when it comes out. It is kinda unreal what is expected from mmos while you could finish single player game in 20-30 hours and be fine with it.
He played ff14? Wtf..
Been playing FFXIV with friends for over 2 and a half years now, we're only about halfway through Stormblood. No rush, play lots of other games on the side, and then every other weekend or so we make MSQ progress. Still enjoying the hell out of the game, even if I take a month break here and there. It's not being pushy to make me race to the end.
Smash players are obsessed with only playing on Final Destination with no items. It's stupid.
wtf is wrong with these ff14 players, their beloved producer said himself that the game was designed for people to come when new content drops and go when they're done doing what they wanna do. No time gating, no FOMO, so you can play another 1 million games out there. You know what top ff14 streamers are doing right now? They still re-prog DSR and help pugs re-clear weekly savage. It's fucking 300 years since DSR and savage released, and they still doing that every day. How you like that huh?
Yes, FF 14 is not designed to keep you playing the game for as long as it is possible. But there is enough content on a patch by patch basis. If developers did a better job with Criterion dungeon rewards, just in 6.2. patch you could do:
– New MSQ (about a couple of hours)
– New Dungeon (you can farm it for transmog / glam, apart from preparing for raids)
– Criterion Dungeons (3 more bosses),
– Variant dungeons (for lore and a mount)
– Tribal Quests (with omnicrons),
– 4 or 5 (depends on how you look at door bosses) in Abyssos,
– New Extreme (farm weapons and mount)
– New Unreal (for mounts, for example – not everyone has all the mounts that Faux Hallows offers)
– Island Sanctuary (which will get more updates, rewards and, HOPIUM, customization)
– New Hildibrand adventures
Like, are you kidding me? There is enough content on a patch by patch basis. Yes, some of them are meant to be experienced one – MSQ, Variant Dungeon, Hildibrand Adventures. But others – are replayable enough. If you play regularly, of course you are going to devour it in a month time – way before the new content drops.
The problem is that people have their preconceptions and refuse to engage with most of the content – thats how diverse it is. Not Savix case, of course – he just ACTUALLY ran out of content to do which is completely fine.
WoW at best can have a x.1 patch in half a year, maybe a bit more. And it offers – new zone and reputation to grind, new 10-boss raid and maybe a new dungeon for mythic plus. Oh, and usually there is always a new progression system to grind. That's it. That's the content. So of course developers are trying to put you on a hamster wheel when you engage with this content. Because if the don't – it will be even more lacking than FF 14 patch content on a shorter, 4 month cycle.
Ion said they are going to change their approach regarding patch cycle, so maybe players will get more stuff in x.x.5 patches. Hopefully thats the case.
As everyone gets back into dragonflight I just hope everyone doesn't become a one game Andy again go play lots of different games
Be gamer, return to Old School Runescape.
Our motto is "You never quit, you just take breaks."
Yeah, game did it's job. If you run out of content, that's a good thing – you shouldn't always have to be online doing dailies, weeklies etc.
Couldnt watch more then 2 minutes of this, its a complete non-argument. There is plenty of content like glamour collection, pallace of the dead, heaven on high, blue mage challenges, omnicrafting, roleplaying, eureka, golden saucer card and minion collecting, helping others who havent finished stuff yet, heck even old anima weapon grinds. Just because people dont find them satisfying, or they dont want to do the content, doesnt mean its not there it just means theyve done the content they care about and they can go sod off until new content comes out and come back refreshed and rested to enjoy the game again instead of burning out. Why is this even something that needs to be talked about, its really not, people are just stupid because they want FF14 to turn into WoW so they can leave FF14 for another MMO talking about how bad FF14 has become because they enjoy hating on things and arent happy unless they have something to whine about and are too stupid to know what they actually want from the games they are playing because hey guess what, half the worlds population is below average IQ, just because everyone think they are smart doesnt make it so. So tired of this self centered obsessive waste of time non-discussion obvious DUH!!! things being discussed as if its big drama or important topics, stupid people obsessing over others not living their life the way they want them to because the whole world revolves around them is not a debate topic or news and even engaging them does nothing but waste time and feed their egos cause they got attention jesus christ….
