FFXIV has been a beacon of light in a dark cave that the gaming industry has become. Almost dystopian, the gaming industry has begun to step into a direction of predatory practices. While safe for now under Creative Business Unit III, can Yoshi P continue to provide gamers a space to enjoy their game in peace without predatory practices invading the world of FFXIV?

Most definitely
True =)
The world (gaming industry) could always use more heroes
FFXIV isn't the only game that gives me hope but it's definitely the largest and most successful. Which I think is what makes it such a good example. We need large, profitable, successful games that don't follow the current BS model to stand as a testament that not only is this what people want but it is a viable business model.
being honest is hard for businesses that want to milk money from there player base, in Japan they place a bigger importance on brand reputation than in the West, FF14 is playing the long game while most others are playing for short term gains
I completely agree with you on the whole situation atm with gaming companies. YoshiP being that shining light amid the darkness really is wonderful since, even though he admits the game is a service, he wants it to be the best it can because, he too, is a gamer. I feel like that's been really lost in the last few years, devs and studios forgetting their audience, not showing us that they play their games and enjoy them.
On a different note, it keeps me a ease that YoshiP is in charge of FF16 since shows the same amount of polish, time investment and consideration I have not reservation that he won't put as much, maybe even more since this is a singleplayer experience, something that he said he's been wanting to try for a long time
pretty much, too many companies "including the like of AAA, indie and mobile" have sat on their laurel and tried to penny pinch it customers for short term gain.
WOW businesses model still think their customers don't have a 8-10hr 5 day work schedule as well as other commitment like a spouse or kids etc.
but just as there are bad companies that see ur customers as ATM machine to draw money, there are still companies, be it AAA, indies "and yes, before you get ur knicker in a twist, there are actually some good mobile game dev out there" that try to give their player a good experience and good value on their time n money.
as such it is important we support good company n practise with our money, n shun away bad n predatory practise.
or to use Yoshp analogy, if ur country/city gov never fix any problems like road, unemployment n crime etc and only just up all form of taxes every week. do you want to live there? or would you immigrant to a better place for better opportunity.
So, idk where to leave this question, I'll just put it here. Are you still going to make occasional DnD and Dark Souls content? I still enjoy FFXIV a lot, but those two streams were my favourite by far.
Alot of ppl think that the comeback FF14 made in Gaming was taking a Busted Game and made it successful. While this is true it's not how I see it.
Ff14s gaming Comeback was bringing fun gaming back for all. It's has set the tone for this new Era of gaming to play what you want and have fun. The only loyalty you owe is to urself mentality.
If you aren't having fun, then play something else. And this dev team are responsible for breaking gamers of the simp mentality for alot of ppl across different genres. You don't have to be in chains anymore.
FFXIV is not a perfect game. But devs and Square Enix love their game, invest in it and listen to us. Thats the mayor diference.
Chad, we’ve been Charlie Brown with gaming companies being Lucy holding the football for DECADES!
Then Yda and her magic shorts came along and took us on a magic carpet ride…….
And it wasn’t bad!!😀😀
I play games and give my money to who wants it. I have played all assassin creeds in my whole life. And it’s the story I care about not the company if here making a game I’m going play it it’s just how my mind works trust or no trust a games a game to me something to take my mind off stuff.
The FF7 Remake criticism confuses me. I hear it spoken about, bit when I read the reviews and the problems, all I see is that it "just" runs the same resolutions and graphical options as PS5. I haven't heard of crashing, bigs or anything. If this is true, I pin it on spoiled gamers without perspective and the strange strange hate for Epic.
Its refreshing when devs actually informs you of the problems and the solutions in place instead of the usual "We're looking into the problem, we'll get in touch in a few" PR talk that we're already used to in the past. It feels like your time is being valued and you're not left in the dark to tumble and fall by yourself.
