Your inventory pains me lmao. Imo bis doesn’t matter at all other than purely personal goals. If you have enough gear to survive raidwides in savage then skill is all you really need to clear. Personally I like getting bis just to satisfy my personal need for min max desires, but it’s not necessary

I just get gear for glamour purposes and to show off while I kill people in PVP, I don’t do savage content. So top tier endgame gear doesn’t really matter to me.
I used to really care about Bis items but im to old and grumpy now to be arsed with the fights, Me and a few buddies just get 660 gear per week and are happy to just chill. I think it matters when you are doing hard content like unreals etc but for the most part no one cares or at least we don't.
One of the main reasons I really love FFXIV is that player-skill matters more than gear!!
Even if you don't care about BIS, it's definitely worth thinking about if you want speed on a particular job or not. I tend to avoid it for no other reason than it changing your GCD depending on what level you're synced to (I do min ilvl old savage content weekly)
Although gear doesn't really matter for the majority of players, I think BIS or options for getting the good substats should be more accessible. While higher item level works for most jobs, if you use full augmented tomestone gear for a job like reaper it will make your rotation drift and not flow as well. I often find myself having use a slightly lower ilvl piece because there isn't a good alternative other than savage.
the reason people don't care about BiS is that there is only one way to get it. and that way requires weeks of your time for learning fights, scheduling raids and finding statics that happen to have the same free time slots as you. and since you need money to play this game, most people are adults with jobs. they just want to log in and do something with a progression system for a few hours before going to bed. I rly don't think it's that complicated. and since Bis is required for most of that content anyway, it's a ouroboros. so people just don't bother. I think raiders should have rewards exclusive to them for spending all that time, and all basic glams become obtainable from normal content via tokens after next patch anyway, so ultimately I don't see this as an issue. I think this is not one of the things people should be worrying about. Hard content should stay hard and a time sink, with exclusive unmatched rewards. just give casual people more diverse content to gear up adequately or spend time on, that's all we need imo.
Gear does not matter because SE made it not matter. Not only does it take longer than necessary to get BiS, but the only place you can use it is in the very limited end game. IE savage itself where you get the damn gear from. Every other piece of content these day is item level synced or like bozja, has its own power model like the stupid actions and potions. You can do every piece of content this game has in the current crafted gear.
There is no gear envy, no reason to get the gear, all gear is worthless
I dont care about BiS anymore. I used to do savage raiding but life got in the way years ago. Im glad we still have options to get at least some higher level gear. It all really comes down to player skill.
The real motivation for BiS is having dyeable armor.
Guess im 90% then even thiugh im always in the extreme….. I've attempted the abysmal fracture extreme every week Friday and Saturday. Specifically when I'm able to; best I've managed to get with random party findersnis 49%. I know everything upto that but with random parties they usually can't get past the 1st phase. So it wastes a ton of time. I can't go on normal runs for it because I haven't got a single clear yet despite months of effort at P9S & extremes.
I'm too much of a lone wolf to do extreme trials. This is more for exclusive cliques.😂
Thank you for making this video! Would you be willing to make a video comparing dps of full tome/augmented vs BIS? I cant find anything on the subject and your the first to really bring it up. Im wondering if the change in dmg is negligible (If going for BIS really is slightly overrated outside of grar progression speed). Also theres an ongoing debate amongst my friends concerning Ultimates. Half of them say we need BIS or we cant do Ultimates AT ALL (as if we need it to succeed/make or break), the other side believes you can clear Ultimates so long as we all have decent gear. I really am interested in your/anyones thoughts. Thank you in advance
At the end of the day BiS is for that 10% of the community who does Savage and/or ultimate and enjoy that side of end game like speeds/parses/easier progression. The other 90% is not going to care about it or more people would attempt the content lol. It’s good to have if you play the game more seriously and are in a static for example but half the community can’t even do a rotation properly so I doubt a lot of people are going to care if they have a good item level when they don’t even know/care if they are hitting their buttons correctly. Due to this, obviously the game is not going to be designed around gear that only less than 10 percent of the community probably has unless of course you are attempting week 1 ultimate prog where then I would say BiS matters
I don't do advanced content for one simple reason. My PC can't handle it! Seriously, back then, the first time I faced Barbariccia it was terrifying with all those wind effects I practically had to be carried by others… (YES I will have to improve the PC because of the new graphical requirements and when that happens MAYBE I'll start to do this content when you have nothing to do)
The other thing is that in normal content there usually isn't an enrage so the stress of a time limit doesn't usually occur. my iLvl for tank and healer are around 640 and i can survive doing my roulettes. now if i were 640 doing high end content which i used to do i'd be a bit worried. in addition to that high end raiders CAN defeat savage content during week 1 with only HQ penta-melded gear. I wouldn't be able to do that because my skill celing is around normal. in addition to that some tomes augmented gear are infact part of bis and that is very accessible to normies like me.
