  1. Derplander, as the Poster Boy for the game, will never be Caster or Healer. Purely for the purposes of Advertising the game, he will never be anything other than Tank or Physical DPS, and I only specify Physical because of the obnoxiously low chance of him ever being Ranged Phys DPS like that Archer he was briefly showcasing in the Shadowbringer trailer.

This has nothing to do with the wide variety of jobs in the game and everything to do with prejudices and preconceptions about what a "Hero" is supposed to look like and do. It sucks, but that's the society we live in and the rules by which advertising takes place. If Derplander weren't *male*, then maybe we could be looking at Comet as a Caster, but no.

Warrior of Light, Warrior to Knight in FF1. Cecil in FFIV, Dark Knight to Paladin. Cloud in FFVII, Dark Knight. Squall in FFVIII, Gunbreaker. Zidane in FFIX, Ninja. Titus in FFX, Paladin. FFXII: Balthier – Machinist, and the rest of them have various Melee based approaches other than Penelo and she's the closest they have to a natural caster.

In the whole of the series, the emphasis has always been on the "Poster Character" as a Tank or Melee DPS with the other options as supporting characters.

Something different would be nice but it's not going to happen.
