I'm glad the Japanese players are sharing their concerns. They're the ones the devs will hear first.
my theory on the viper change is less people were playing it than they expected so they figured it must be cause it was too busy. Myself I think the weapon lacks that 'cool' factor when in two sword mode. Would have preferred it always stayed as the dual blade.
the sentiment that yoshi p doesnt listen to feedback is insanity to me because thats why the game is the way it is. they listen to TOO MUCH feedback. players bad at a job? make it braindead idiot proof. fight too hard? nerf it. dungeon too hard? gut it. tanking too hard? gut it. pressing 2 extra buttons on healers for dps is too much? remove it. how tf do these people not think theyre being over listened to? and i have to disagree; i will always prefer complexity being on the job itself than the battle, because even when doing the most boring content, which is a good portion of the game, my brain is still active playing the job instead of falling asleep at my keyboard like i did with roulettes last night.
I don't know
American here. I love scholar and I have never used Energy Drain. It's a pointless skill that should have been either drastically buffed or removed forever.
As a non Japanese speaker, what was the issue behind the use of the 2nd person pronoun omae? How was this inappropriate or incorrect?
"Localization ream doing their best." … Well, their best wasn't good enough was it? Voice acting worse then ARR, Errors in Translation (Typo's). Wuk Lamat VA in Japanese did amazing work and I really liked her voice, I really hope that Ayaka Shimoyamada will go on to become a successful Voice Actress. As for English … no, god no, it was like someone using text to speech.
I think the energy drain issue is that a huge amount of healers are complaining about the lack of DPS options and even a tiny bit of complexity on the DPS rotation for any of the healers so for them to remove energy drain, they would need to give SCH some other DPS thing to replace it with because even if it promotes bad habits, to a lot of players, it's at least something they can do for DPS or try to optimize outside of things going wrong. They just need to actually replace it with something instead of removing it and buffing the damage on broil or the DoT.
Do NOT put it in there.
Initially I had problem with VPR change, since it involve breaking my muscle memory right before savage.
But then, I put some thought into it, and remember I started to be extremely resentful against old Storm's eye of WAR after playing for long while, and realize it will probably goes down same line of resentment, since it work just like old storm's eye.
Now, I think this ''new'' VPR still have its core identity, being incredibly busy and allow breaking melee range at will, this job is still fundamentally fun.
I agree, energy drain really should just recover MP only. People are way too obsessed with squeezing as much dps as possible to the detriment of anything else.
24:13 There’s that cutscene in Solution 9 with Wuk, WoL and Alisaie, in which at certain moment Wuk just blocks the view of WoL with her axe.
Speaking of who’s the real hero of this story…
Really not liked stonewalling from YoshiP on some interviewes about people having problems with story.
"Yeah, we were expecting mixed response on expansion" and moved on.
No mentions about huge amout of story problems with expansion, no acceptance, no promises to fix or not repeat this in future.
I play SCH and used it for week 1 raiding. Please stop trying to remove energy drain.. It's not about weaving or damage, it's about decision. I want to make decisions and I want those decisions to have feedback. The better you heal, the more damage you'll get out of ED or your cohealer getting an extra glare.
I don't care about bad healers who use too much ED, that's a player issue and not a job issue. WHMs literally have to heal every 60s and they're notorious for being "ゴリゴリ", but no one is asking to remove Dia or Glare.
In regards with scholars – I think people just like to feel like they're optimizing something and are a very loud audience protesting for ED to stay. However in practice, most of the same shouting scholars struggle to actually do it correctly and leave healing to their co-healers. The amount of scholars here on EU who just use everything on ED and then use succor/addlo is astounding. In one of my statics I had to purposefully let the team die until scholar realised they actually could place Soil instead of dropping everything on ED (I was on ast, could have used collective but that meant I would need to gcd heal waaaaaaay more on later mechanics). The same scholar would also not res and expect rdm to res, so scholar would have a swift for glare to go into position during prog. This is more or less the usual I see with other scholars I healed with in the past 5 years, so at this point I just don't trust them unless it's someone who is willing to do healing plans.
An issue I had with the food trail is that it basically randomizes the whole outcome of the contest. Imagine Wuk Lamat and Bakool Ja Ja had been paired up. They'd be bickering at each other non stop about how to do things, while Koana would have secured Zoraal Ja the overall victory. It just doesn't make sense to design a contest that way, unless you want the result randomized. Also it's kind of the climax of this adventure we set out on, which felt more like a guided tour at that point. Paired with some mandatory educational program.
21:00 I really agree with you. I think if a player wants things to weave always…
– I'd suggest just play Viper. That's THE weaving job at the moment.
I know professionally he would not comment on the stuff going around mainly on Twitter with the English VA and the overall state of western gaming but I do think it’s affecting Squre Enix as a whole. I just have to look at the renaming of beast tribe quests to see it.
Saying there isn’t a push for certain ideals/agendas sounds naive.
Hopefully that’ll be the extent of it though and BU3 focuses on a proper compelling narrative moving forward. Dawntrail was just not it.
My opinion of the msq is that it feels like a rushed shounen. The new "side" characters didn't get a chance to develop. The existing characters that i believe were ment to receive more fleshing out just got one area to quickly brush their story under the rug. Since there wasn't a full arch i couldn't bring myself to believe wuk was as stong as she was. And yes that scene the "1v1 me bro" was done poorly, our characters should have come in at the last moment. Most discussions have ended saying "that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't a cs".
Dang, if only Yoshi-P played Ultima 4. Game's got the same WoL situation. World is already saved and doesn't need the player character anymore. So what's a hero to do in such a world?
