Your interpretation of the game offering you a diverging MSQ path where you go and sort out the Weapon issue or go back to save the Scions and there being potential consequences to that is so much more interesting than the reality of them actually just going "hey we worked really hard on these Trials can you go do them please"

Also!! Highly recommend you visit the inn room, go watch the 2nd cutscene of the first entry in the Unending Journey. Might want to record reaction to it while you’re at it.
Just so you know – cutscene with catboy depends on role quests you've finished
And if you've finished multiple ones – you might "guess" who comes to you, with different characters to choose from (and secret options if you've done them all!) & and that might be quite interesting to see

Many comments on your latest FFXIV Yt video said this. Please go visit the inn room and watch the 2nd cutscene of the first entry in the Unending Journey and record it for Yt. You will be shocked & it'll blow your mind! It'll be an amazing reaction!
And that was the last MSQ before Covid-19 showed up and made a right mess of things. As a result, we would wait nearly 8 months before we learned what happened next in 5.3.
Having said that, 5.3 is a BIG patch just for the MSQ alone. It did things like allow flying in ARR zones too. I would not be surprised if you had to split it up into two or even three parts.
Also, that whole bit regarding the weapons in Ala Mhigo was a not-so-subtle hint that the ShB Trial series is now available. The quest NPC is in the Ala Mhigan Quarter.

It's been awhile
As someone who loves history and myths, I do like the part about Ranka and history being learned. Just seeing how people talk about about watching someone go through something they did back in the original content or earlier, you see how that “history” is learned.
5.3 def deserves a live stream
Oh wow, I completely forgot about that cutscene after the dungeon. That puts a whole new spin on stuff that happens later! When I did later quests, I had forgotten about this stuff. Such is the bad thing about playing the content as it is current — you tend to forget cutscenes when you see later content.
Just saying, you weren't the only one with the echo to begin with, though you may have forgotten it, other people with the echo would be Krile, Minfilia (both of them), Ysale, Arenvald. When you were recruited, the scions were already on the lookout for people with it.
Also, loved the intro!
I don't know if you've done the 8man raid story for Stormblood, but you'll see Nero there, which, within the timeline of the game was… a couple weeks ago.
