In this video Genjigear gives you his honest thoughts of FFXIV Heavensward so far during his first playthrough as a new player.
In case you are wondering, Genji is referring to Icehart when he mentions “Sally” and he is referring the two battles Shiva lost when he says she is not powerful… please don’t get mad and try to argue. It is factually true that Shiva is not very strong if she is 0-2 from both of her fights in the game thus far. If she ends up being the strongest character in the game later so be it, for now… she kinda sucks.

Regarding "Sally", I think it's established in ARR during those early beast tribe primals that the aether given by worshipers summons the primal. So without lots of aether and followers, it could help explain her power level.
The heart and soul of this game really shines here. All of this is building up to something that a lot of RPG’s get wrong or does not work out.
To the point.
I was saying this a lot of times – Heavensward is when game feels like classic Final Fantasy game – specifically like 16-bit RPG – it just has same vibes but with much better production quality. It gives me vibes of FFIV-FFVI, maybe because of Estinien and Ysale, maybe for other reasons. But this is focused, it feels like journey you go through and you follow common goal. I also like the fact that these characters are not one-note, each has their goals and reasons for going on this quest. This is what makes this story so good for me personally.
Yeah, ARR kinda juggled you around a ton to different scions really quickly. It's probably a consequence of all the cutting they did for pacing as well as them already being established in the world since 1.0.
Going forward it feels more like exploring with a group rather than them telling you how things work since it is new to them as well. Promotion from errand person to full party member
What's cool is that they build on a lot of these concepts going forward and get better and better with it. To the point where you and your group are presented with a problem and it's like "Ok WoL, X and Y will handle the problem on this front, A, B and C will handle the other problem and meet back up" and it all makes sense who goes where and does what. Instead of just being "Wait, why am I the only one doing anything while you all sit on your hands??"
you haven't seen anything yet!
From now on it becames a lot more like an FF story, and like all FF stories.. well … expect the unexpected 😏
For me, it was the moment that my character crossed over from the Western Highlands to the Dravanian Forelands – and I realized we were going to be traveling as a group. It really struck me how different the game was from World of Warcraft where each zone is distinct (sometimes each quest) and you would never see anything like that.
YES
I'm super hyped to see you get through Heavensward. It only gets better from here on out in my opinion atleast!
Woo-hoo glad you are having a good time
