  1. Krile is the ultimate bloodhound. Once she's recognized someone's aether signature she can track them anywhere.

She used this ability to stalk and bully Estinien into their service, which is why he calls her 'that infernal Baldesion woman'

  2. Think of it like this the soul in this game is recycled via death cleansing in the sea then rebirth so each reflection has its own set of sundered and new souls if they werent seperate then some reflections could have more than one shard of the same soul.

  3. "what's with that Asian music?" Yes. Omg. My biggest peeve about EW was the improper reuse of themes and leitmotifs that cheapened them. That music is actually called Paradise Lost or Paradise Falls or something. It was first used with the Tesleen scene. To me, it meant the inevitability of loss or the futility of attempts to change. Now it just means "good place bad."

  5. I don't know if you guys caught this during your msq stream, but G'Raha mentions that the Crystarium's architecture was inspired by Sharlyan's architecture.

And like, for me, I had been getting weird Crystarium vibes ever since I had first entered Sharlyan and I couldn't quite place why.

So thanks to G'Raha, I finally had my "Aha!" moment.

And then the implications of that started to sink in. And I started getting a little sad for him.

  6. I like Krile with the hood off. She should do that more often.

Anyway, I think there is a very telling moment about Faurchen… whatever he's spelled like, Levelieur senior. In the intro cinematic, you can see him gently stroking his hand over the map, but then pulling it back and balling it into a fist, like she's frustrated. I think he loves Eorzea and doesn't like leaving it hanging, but feels that his duty is more important… and he's frustrated that he has to decide between the two things. It also makes him very sore and defensive over being called out on it, to the point that he overreacts, and then is too proud to admit he made a mistake and just doubles down on whatever stupid thing he shouted out in the heat of the moment, like banishing his own children.
Either that, or he knows that his duty will put him in great danger and he wants to distance his children, to keep them away from this danger.

  7. I'm ready to throw a shoe at you within the first 20 seconds of the video. Since your doing ff14 though I'll continue to blame Koji Fox for his great evil afflicting the world itself with puns. 😛 Edit: Made it to 4:20. No the shoes are aimed at you once more.

  8. You know its a great video when I am equal part excited and dreading to run to the comments!

You're predictions mostly line up with what I was thinking when I reached these points. I think only one thing you guys gave more attention to than I did, but I wonder how much is that is the benefit of review for these videos than playing at a fever pitched pace on early access.

Another banger vid for the books.

  9. Yeah…the twins dad…….I wanted to beat the shit out of him basically the whole expansion. But particularly early on he and most the upper end sharlayans need continual swirlies.

  10. "I was going to be very mad if they just took Krile out of another expansion." Fun fact: The dev team admitted they actually forgot to tell the artist to include Krile in the pre-expansion artwork.

  11. This ENTIRE vid is me channeling “The Speaker” from Destiny 1. “I could tell you if all your theories are correct, I could tell you if you’re cooking with propane gas…….but, I won’t”. Lol

  12. I think the explanation for the Amaurotine masks and the Sharlayan senate veils get explained by random NPCs standing around somwhere in Shb and EW.

For the Amaurotines, their culture emphasizes wearing masks in public as expressions of personal identity was considered rude, basically our version of not wearing shoes or pants. They clearly had a "for the greater good of the star" sort of vibes. (Personally I think its cause they're all too good looking, can you imagine what they look like under those lumpy robes and masks based on the characters we've seen? probably Greek Adonis tier). So the maskless ones are usually major representatives of some sort (ie IMPORTANT CHARACTER indicators), and important characters still wearing masks sort of imply fading or lost memories.

For the Sharlayans, its a similar thing where they're basically hiding/foregoing their individual identities and interests to embody the greater will of the country. The ones without veils are mostly representatives or incredibly well known individuals anyway. I think there's a mention or implication that most of the senate know who each other are anyway and the veil is just a symbolic gesture.

  13. Harken back to the Antitower. While it's not established if the aetherial sea is a place that conventionally, physically exists under the surface of the planet, the antitower does establish and reinforce a correlation between going deeper under the planet, and reaching the aetherial sea.

  14. FYI, I think Venat's model is just a Hyur head put on an Elezen body. It's just enough different from both to be its own distinct thing while still looking human.

We see something similar with blood Garleans like Maximus, except blood Garleans have that third eye in their forehead (I think Gaius just uses a base Hyur model with third eye).

  15. I always thought the "punish the servants" line was more a joke to imply that her husband loved her so much that he would say to the servants what he should have said to her. Namely, that he would complain about her to them but would never say a mean word to her directly. I think the "punishment" would be to endure his grousing.

  16. It's always so interesting to hear what you two pick to pay attention and put importance to in the story, especially since you don't always agree. Also poor Noraxia, I had to look up their name too 😅

  17. Nice intro, and good try on getting Val and Tuna to be together on the boat. I admit as an animator, I do see him shift around quite a bit as it zooms out lol. I recommend you overlap the 2 videos first without the masking, move over the character, then you mask it. It should follow the boat much more smoothly, and all you have to do from that point is animate the mask.

  18. So many great takes in this section of the story. My favorite is the guy who founded and led his own nation for a century downplaying his political savvy and just saying he's "more in tune with the nuances of governance."
