As a lifelong FF player who never touched MMOs, this one sold me instantly with the words "personal chocobo companion." He fights alongside you outside of instances, and you can feed him fruits to change the color of his feathers to whatever you want.
Make sure to grab plenty of Gysahl Greens from the NPC shops. They are able to fight monsters with you outside of dungeons.
The more your pollo foghts, the more experience point it canbget to level up.
The max rank level is 20 and able to to Tank, Heal and DPS woth commands
7:00 The Chonkobo™ is the best mount in the game, I haven't even looked at other mounts since I got it.

I think it's messed up for people to give streamers all kinds of stuff. It's sort of robbing them of organic first-time experiences.

even with a personal mount: use the various chococo handlers to unlock the travel system. you cannot fly until lvl50 and a certain MSQ
