We Deserve Homogenized Jobs 2 minute meta [FFXIV 7.1]

Pictomancer is an example of a job that does something unique in FFXIV and while I’m the first person to state it’s numbers are obviously out of line that I am highly resistant to the idea of simply nerfing it into the ground because pictomancer is unique. If we remove everything unique from the game, we end up with homogenized jobs and 2 minute burst windows that we currently have. At this point, we deserve the homogenized jobs and 2 minute perfect burst windows.

  1. I'm disappointed. I'm convinced we deserve the 2 minute meta and job homogenization. We need to ask what other jobs can bring that is unique to compete with pictomancer rather than break pictomancer apart just for the sake of balance in a very particular piece of content that pictomancer's damage style taking advantage of downtime takes advantage of. We need to ask what other jobs can bring. Eg: Red mage brings revive, and red mage has a lot of reasons to take it in a melee slot. Give jobs a reason to take them. Enough homogenizing stuff.

  2. Eh, been playing thru the years from 2.0 till Endwalker off and on id say 6 months out of the year at a time, or when the itch needs it. Probably had the most fun during HW and Shadowbringers. Jobs felt good to me. Never was a high end raider, never took the game that seriously. I think i just miss Dark Arts from HW, and it sucks they didnt continue to flesh it out with new possible combinations if affects. Havn't touched DT yet, from what ive seen & read i might not.

  3. the issues with the game overall and why we always lean back into asking for homogenization it is because of the way combat encounter is design. you dont have one of those gameplay content scenario atm where one dps is better at farming and aoe, one dps is better at bossing, one dps is better providing buff utility, etc. To justified any semblance of variety gameplay between job. most of the time for those who play this game they mostly be raiding. and when raiding is all you do for any semblance of endgame pve. people are going to play and complaint about homogenization to fit in that raiding scenario. which is why we are in this situation of constant debate about homogenization when there is no pve endgame atm outside of raiding. this game isnt like maplestory or wow where those game provide a buck load of endgame outside of raiding, such as pvp, delve, mage tower, and also exp booster with wow ice mage can aoe down mob for people to level up faster. FFXIV is a very on rail experience and endgame purely raiding, rp and lifestyle content atm.

  4. you know naoki yoshida said he will not nerf picto drastically, rather increasing the dps on all other classes because he dont wants the picto mains to be mad at him. so for the next raid tier i assume we get a bunch of dps increases aswell as boss hp increases to compensate the increased dps on all other jobs

  5. Personally, I've long hoped that RDM would get more… effectively downtime utility. Verregen, perhaps. Something that'd provide support, while dealing with the opportunity cost of taking up a full GCD.

  6. Unless 8.0 does something radical with gameplay and job design, I am never ever coming back.
I am so sick of the ShB paradigm, it's so static lifeless and boring, and I can't stand another minute of it.
Even worse is that EW retroactively ruined almost all of the old stuff, a feat that DT is keen to repeat with intent to finish the job.
I stopped giving them any money around 6.2; I am not giving them another cent until there is a marked improvement.

I was originally going to quit the game with 7.0's advent; "8.0 job identity, look forward to it" is the only reason I've yet to purge the game from my drive.
The need for a graphics rework with 7.0 was nowhere near as dire as the need for any kind of depth, dynamism, or mental stimulation in the job and content design.

  7. The root problem to all this is all jobs are oriented around raiding . A small fraction of the content and an even smaller fraction of the community that only participate in the game for a small fraction of the games life is dictating the entirety of FFXIV ?!?

  8. The worst thing is that when you try to point out PCT's niche people immediately call you white knight and "FFXIV defense force" because they accuse you of defending SE when we have asked for the past 5 years for more unique job design. Of course PCT needs number adjustments but it should still be the best DPS for downtime bosses. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I saw people unironically asking for the motifs to get reworked. This is Stormblood AST all over again…

  9. The community wants to fix pct so it can line up with blm overall because if pct beats blm in everything with a the point of playing blm in party then? when the party wants you to go pct

  10. I honestly dont think the community knows what it wants. Homogenization happened because of players in the first place. And now we are saying its boring. Honestly it willl forever be a back and forth at this rate. I swear if we get less Homogenization in 8.0 and people complain about balance, im really going to lose it.
Theres too many types of players that the feedback is all over the place, and the game has like no direction. Just a tug of war between casual and hardcore player feedback. Not to say the criticism is wrong. But its clear to me players dont know what they want and never will know what they want.

  11. My only issue with Melee healers in XIV is that having your core abilities and Job identity function in strictly from being in melee and (assumedly) using melee ranged abilities means that you are useless in most end game content around 30% of the time. As whenever the boss becomes untargettable or you need to go out of melee, you instantly become the worst healer in the game by a wide margin. Unless your mechanics are like Kardia, but then at that point you're most likely just overhealing your raid moreso than anything meaningful outside of oGCD cooldowns. A healer needs to function at all ranges and I just personally feel XIV doesn't need a strict melee healer. Could XIV have a healer that has some oGCD tools that excel when in melee, sure, but at that point it's just semantics really.

I also feel that the fight design in XIV is so drastically different than something like WoW, where you don't need gradually healing very often. XIV is more just mapping which off globals to use with the occasional global to heal and just dps outside of that. Sure a melee healer could be cool in dungeons but a job shouldn't be designed just for one piece of content and I feel like a healer should function equally at all ranges based on how XIV's fight design is.

tl;dr Melee healer is cool, but doesn't work in XIV w/o just becoming a regular healer that has a few tools that could be stronger in melee

  12. I think the "you have revoked your right over complaining such topic" is a massive overexaggeration. I think pct is overtuned and not healthy for the game in its current state BECAUSE we exist in a 2 minute meta. he plays outside of the rules of the game, no other job does that, putting them at a massive disadvantage. You showed the numbers, there are no statistics for BLM and MCH because they don't bring much to the table in anything other than damage and picto just thrives in downtime in a way no other job can dream of getting close. Imho, as someone playing since EW, the 2 minute meta should die and not return in 8.0, I'm disappointed it didn't now, but pct might be a step in the right direction, but this job CANNOT stay with the numbers it has while having this damage potential that invalidates other jobs so easily.

  13. oh this video deserve to go so high… i agree on everything said, i'm so sick about this BORING AS HELL omogenization just because the community don't know how to have fun in a mmo, we need individual class so so so much 🙁 we have 21 jobs but is like having only 5 (based on roles, because they're so dam similar), is so shamefull on a game where you can change job at every moment.
we have a light at the end of the tunnel with 8.0, i really hope to not see it ruined, expecially from community's stupid ranters

  14. in my opinion i think pct core problem is the way its designed yes it has job identity probably one of they few jobs that can say that but i think the reason the devs give it so much potency is because they over compensate for time lost when you are casting motifs they so they just give you a bunch of potency to offset the time lost painting and another thing is that it has a raid buff there is no way a job that does so much adps should have a raidbuff its just rather silly tbh if you gonna make a job this strong it should just be a selfish dps they literally gave this job everything you can imagine except for a raise you have a spreadlo a dash with a speedboost 5 holy in white for movement almost all the spells cleave a free prepull rainbow drip like holy shit i really want to know if the devs know it was busted pre DT release or they thought it was fine and will fit in with the other casters like just another job either situation is cooked

  15. Yeah pct is so broken that's it's basically required for FRU, they could have easily fixed it by nerfing pct potencies lol. They can design unique non 2 min meta jobs without them being broken OP, or by nerfing when one job is so out of line. This take is meh lol
